Maid of Honor roles and expectations

Hello Brides, I am getting married here in the US this December. He was showing a lot of frustrations kasi hindi daw very helpful ang maid of honor ko in terms of supporting or giving me ideas, pati narin sa pag cocoordinate with the vendors. My MOH doesnt also ask me kung nasan naba ko sa wedding prep, like wala lang talaga. Ako rin naman mismo di ko alam ano nga ba talaga ang role ng MOH kasi? my MOH is also filipino just like me. So baka di rin nya tlaga alam ang dapat gawin bilang MOH if she looks at it in an american perspective. For those getting married in pinas with both Filipino, ano ba ang natutulong sa inyo ng MOH nyo right now? Meron ba silang shared ideas sa planning phase nyo? Yung shoes na isusuot niyo? etc

Alexandre Birman Poor quality!

OMG! I jumped into purchasing a pair of Angie 50 satin pump from Alexandre Birman, and paid $880ish for this only to receive a bad one!! The quality is insane given how expensive these are! One of the shoes’ ribbon was off and it seems like it was just attached onto the shoe with some kind of glue! The tip point of the shoe is looking really terrible too!! Just beware!!

Trial and errors

OMG, anyone here getting married na ang daming purchases then end up returning then buy something again na babagay sa overall look on the wedding day? Nakakaloka. Pati shoes.. it is just overwhelming. Tell me i am not the only one! 😭

Update: Ako lang yata hahhaha

DY bracelet only lasted for 3months!

I just want to rant.

So disappointed with my very first DY purchase. I bought this bracelet last April, right before they increased their pricing. I was completely hesitating to get one, but since I have been reading good reviews about its quality in general, i took the chance. 3 months into owning it, the other end part of the bracelet came off, I don’t even know where it went, i just caught it by surprise. I only wore this at least 2x a week every other weekend, basically only when i go out on weekends. I am on healthcare so I don’t really wear this for work. Really disappointed, I didn’t even get my money’s worth.

Previous Attempt: i haven’t sent a query with DY on how much to get this fixed, I don’t even know if it will be honored since I do not have the other end piece.

Earrings far from what i expected.. AIO?

Okay. I ordered something from Etsy. This is the one advertised versus what I received. I know it is just 30usd and should have checked it through Temu because they only sell this for 2usd lol. I asked the seller for refund and I can also return the item. She said the item is not significantly different from what was advertised. AIO? Is it just me claiming it is far from what i expected? She didn’t reply at all after i said yes i still want a refund when she offered me for a partial refund.

She had a disclaimer saying “The color and size of the product may vary slightly due to photography and screen/display settings." In addition, each pair is individually crafted, so there may be slight variations in the enamel finish and the shape of the pearl.

I guess i shouldn’t have expected that much.

How to love someone who is ill temper?

I wish my husband is slow to anger. Hindi naman sya sobrang bilis talaga magalit, pero usually it is when things go wrong or out of hand nagagalit sya to me and to our son. I take things in a more relaxed way, I have good temper and patience esepcially nanay ako. But to him, getting angry shows that he cares daw. How do you keep loving someone na mabilis magalit? 🥲

Midi Wedding dress

Is it okay to wear midi wedding dress for a church wedding? It will be something like on the picture shown. I’m choosing to have this kind for functionality reasons.. i have a 3yo son who might cling onto me and wedding will be on December. There’s a chance it will rain so I do not want my gown to be touching a wet ground. But is it underwhelming tho? The wedding will be a small one with about 45guests. Thank you for responding!

EDIT: WOW Thank you all for your lovely responses! ♥️

Finally getting married in the church. For reference, I am 5ft1 and petite body frame, i don’t have wide hips and not much butt. These are my 3 choices. Most people i asked chose the first one— A line and flowy, then some for the second one that has V shape which can help emphasize my waist. The last one’s design is unique, has puffy sleeves and the details look new to my eyes. i like that, but my body looks straight with no curves at all. Will appreciate all your insights, opinions. ☺️

Edit: reason for selecting gown with long sleeves is that my wedding will be in December and it’s on winter solstice so it’ll be cold ❄️ ☺️

I 35F will be getting married in the church finally with my live-in partner of 4years. We share a very amazing 3yo son together.

Prior to the decision of getting married, my live in partner and my parents had a huge conflict 2years ago when my parents came to visit us from another country. It started as a misunderstanding due to cultural differences, then turned into a heated argument that no one would ever wish to have.

My mom is a very emotional lady driven by my dad’s controlling behavior. I grew up being raised by them with my dad as the one who always has the “say” and my mom was very submissive to him.

I have been in this bubble that I am so loved by my parents, with no boundaries set even I am already an adult. That means, whatever i say, most of the time doesn’t bear any weight on them. I am the very nice daughter, obedient and the one who wouldn’t want my parents to cry.

Now that I have my own family, my live in partner popped that bubble. He told me how it seems like my parents don’t respect my words at all, and still treat me like a child. (all this observation happened when they stayed in our home for a vacation). That was when all the conflict came until they went back to their home country with no closure.

When I told my parents about the decision, they were not so happy and I was given a silent treatment. The decision of getting married stemmed from what I wish to have.. to receive the sacrament of matrimony, to be able to receive the Holy Communion that I have been so thirsty to receive. I have been wanting to correct my mistake and be reunited with God and of course to give our son a family legal in the eyes of God.

My question is am I doing the right decision? I have been praying for my parents and my live-in partner’s reconciliation.. to have their hearts healed. But i also don’t want to risk hell by waiting for both sides to heal before I make the decision for my soul. Don’t get me wrong, I love my live-in partner and we wanted to make things right for our son.

I want to get this off my chest so I’ll try to make the story short kasi mahaba talaga ang kwento.

For context, I, 35/F has lived on the same household with my parents sa pinas for about 25years. I have been living in the US for more than 5years now and many things have changed. I now have a son and a partner who is of Asian descent and more on American way of living.

FFW, my parents visited us in the US back when my son was only a year old. It was also their first time coming, so excited sila. They stayed for about 6weeks sa amin.

The scenario goes a long way.

So both parents were also offended and hurt per se pag kinoconfront ni partner about their opinions or thoughts sa mga bagay bagay. Like to them it was a disrespect.

2 years has passed, at may plano na kami mag pakasal sa simbahan. Walang closure about sa nangyari back then, walang nag reach out either sides.

That hit me hard! So tingin nila sakin or kinompara talaga ako sa tuta?? I don’t get it. 35 na ako, marunong na ako mag desisiyon sa buhay.. hindi naman ako 15yo na mag aasawa na lang. I just find it very toxic up until sa huli.
