Love for Pip Decks

Decided to go ahead and grab Uusi’s Solis Occasum Lux Brumalis and I think I love it! I wasn’t expecting to because it’s not TdM, but the pips are so perfect! It’s a brilliant deck.

Looking for book recommendations

UPDATE:

This is why I love you guys, thank you all so much! I found almost all your recommendations online and I’m BEYOND grateful!

Here’s my library so far. What am I missing? I have DuQuette’s book about Thoth & a couple other Pitisci books on Kindle. I’m mainly interested in TdM, but I also love tarot history, art, and reading methodology in general. If you have any great book recs, I really appreciate your sharing!

The Light and Shadow Tarot

By Michael Geopferd and Brian Williams. A very interesting variation of the Major Arcana. The pips are cool too, but the cards are huge so I didn’t have room for the whole deck.

Tip-toe’ing into Thoth, which decks?

I haven’t ever really felt drawn to the artwork that I usually see in some Thoth decks, but I’m highly interested in learning more about the system.

I ordered the large edition of the Thoth deck I see everywhere, so that’s on its way, but maybe there are other versions or variations of it?

Which Thoth decks do you recommend? Which are your favorites and which ones are in your wish list?

I’ll take any recommendations, any price range, and from most countries. I prefer not to use decks made by AI just as a personal thing. Thank you in advance for helping me!

*Book recs would be appreciated too if you feel like adding them 🙂

Arrived today! Matronua Pocket Edition

It’s so amazing! I have the 2nd ed. so I knew I’d love the art, but I didn’t realize how fantastic this smaller size would be. Not too small that the art is lost, but small enough to easily shuffle and carry. Matronua is, hands down, my favorite deck in existence and this pocket deck is perfect.

It’s here, it’s amazing, it’s pocket sized true love

I already knew I would be in love with the art because I have Valentina‘s 2nd edition which, of course, is breathtaking.

What I didn’t know was how surprisingly shufflable this pocket edition is; so cool. It’s the same art paper style of card stock she uses for the standard sized decks, but it’s flexible. I’m extra impressed.

Matronua is, hands down, my favorite deck in existence.

Showing off the collection!

I did a major purge and gifted a bunch of decks to other people; this is what’s left of my tarot/oracle/lenormand collection. Trying NOT to shop for anymore for a while, but collectors gotta collect, lol.

Of all the decks in the photo, my absolute favorite is the Matronua Tarocchi Italiani. There are a few decks pictured without titles on the front and those are: Cerulean (the blue box top left) by James Eads, just below that, in the brownish box, is Green Glyphs Runes, and then over to the right a bit, top row, is a black box and that’s True Black Tarot from Andrew Wang.

ETA: the flowery box is Metanoia Marseille from Bouchette Designs

My favorite TdM decks (so far); what are yours?

Top L - R

• Matenoia from Bouchette Designs
• Madenié from Yves Reynaud (who is such a nice guy, by the way!)
• Vachier also from Yves Reynaud
• Matronua (my very favorite) from Valentina de Luca, one of the kindest people ever.

Bottom L - R

• Conver from Artisan Tarot
• Ancient Italian from Lo Scarobeo
• CBD, of course 🙂 from U.S. Games, thanks YBD
• Othrysian from Artisan Tarot
• Noblet also from Artisan

The Matronua pocket edition is on its way and I couldn’t be more stoked. What are your favorite TDMs? And where do you guys find them?

Weird sleepers

Dude has 2 dog beds, my bed, guest room bed, and 2 couches to choose from.

Yet he picks the cold hard floor, snuggled up with the cold hard wall. Where is your Golden’s favorite nap spot?

What does a Marine look like?

I was accused, by a civilian woman I’ve never met before, of stolen valor.

Her reason was because I have a USMC tattoo on my arm, but I “don’t look like a Marine”. A complete stranger literally took the time and energy to walk across a parking lot to me to tell me this.

So I guess my question is: what does a Marine look like?

Pic added to prove that I do, in fact, look like a Marine and wanted to show off my cute puppy who had to witness the interaction, poor guy.

Cerulean by James Eads

How cool for him to come out with a numerology deck; I love it so far! The guidebook is an awesome mess, it’s great. Anyone else have the Cerulean Oracle?

TdM is more secular than I realized & cool documentary

I hope it’s okay to share this here, but if it’s deleted that’s cool too; i’m not very good at Reddit, but I’m learning.

I just watched the Tarology documentary on YouTube featuring well known Marseille reader Enrique Enriquez and it TOTALLY changed the way I look at tarot, particularly when it comes to RWS v TdM and secular vs metaphysical or mystical.

I thought it was so cool; at about 16 minutes in, Enrique describes things I’ve always thought: that the myths and misconceptions about tarot are “nonsense”, as he puts it. They’re not magic, just cards with pictures on them.

And then he goes on to blow minds with incredible insight in his readings!

I thought I’d share with this group because I just think it’s a great documentary, Enrique is a great reader, and a lot of the messaging was right up our alley. He makes Tarot de Marseille so accessible for those of us who prefer secular approaches.

(I don’t know if it’s okay to link, so I’m not gonna just in case it’s against the rules, but it’s YouTube, Tarology, and it’s about an hour long). Has anyone else seen it?

Minchiate Fiorentine: Etruria 1725

Finally got my first Minchiate deck (and first deck from Il Meneghello); it’s gorgeous!!
I’ll be holed up at home all weekend learning how to use it lol

Codex from Daniel Martin Diaz

Very interesting concept, incredible artwork, and really well executed guidebook! I think this deck works great in spreads or line readings on its own and could be a great addition or clarification as part of a tarot spread.

Harvard’s Free Course: Omens, Oracles, and Prophecies

I’m not sure if I used the right flair for this. Or if this is even okay to share here, please delete if not! Sorry ahead of time, I never know what I’m doing on reddit.

I just thought this was so interesting and wondered if you guys would be interested, too: Harvard is offering a free course, via edX, called “Omens, Oracles, and Prophecies”.

It’s taught by Harvard astrophysicist, Alyssa Goodman, along with practitioners and Harvard faculty.

I signed up and it’s pretty interesting so far! All sorts of divination methods are discussed.
Totally free, unless you want a certificate (which is $99), and self-paced, online.

Hope this was okay to share here and I hope everyone’s having a great day

Fun with language barriers & Minchiate

Sadly, I don’t speak Italian - I will learn! - so I figured I was probably missing something when I saw the title of this deck.

I thought I better reach out to the seller to be sure about what I was getting.

lol it was so kind and patient of the seller to explain to me in English. I got a kick out of it and thought you guys might, too. 🙃

Y’all I had such a toxic negative experience in another tarot sub, that I had to run straight to my favorite subs, this one and r/TarotdeMarseille. These communities are so great and you guys are all so kind, helpful, and supportive.

So thank you for that. And thanks to the mods for creating and holding a welcoming space.

Also, I want to express my gratitude for all of the creators who share their decks here. I wouldn’t have the courage to do that, I’m always so proud of all of you, and just blown away by your work.

Thank you for continuing to post your new creations and your art. I’m a collector and I have no problems spending money to support artists, even when it’s a deck I might not normally buy or use.

So please keep up the good, brave, and important work! I’ll keep purchasing and supporting. I feel so lucky to have found this sub and all of you.

*eta: just bought Aorathian Anti-Oracle after the artist shared it on Reddit, even though I don’t usually use Oracle decks simply because it’s cool, but mostly because the artist is such a kind person.

I was prepared to pay a couple hundred ‘cause I assumed shipping to me in PNW, US would be expensive, but shipping is cheap!
