Employment attorneys?

Hello everyone. I was recently terminated from my job and there is some really shady stuff going on, office administrators have forged paperwork with incorrect dates and are trying to act like they hired me at a later date than they did to avoid paying me out my due bonuses/etc. They also forged documents and dates where I supposedly “called out” as reason for my termination even though I have proof that I was working those days.

I also have documented proof of targeted harassment from office administrators. I have proof that my schedule was changed last minute on several occasions to try and cause me to NCNS, I have proof of derogatory statements made about me and my circumstances by office administrators. I have proof of this company violating their own attendance policies, scheduling single staff to work houses that they are paid to double staff, and overall generally unsafe working conditions.

I am still in the phase of gathering all of my physical copies and evidence together in a folder. I am currently looking for wrongful termination attorneys, but I have no experience with this and I’m scared of getting scammed. If anyone has any decent experience with reliable termination lawyers, please send me their way!

Also, to avoid any legal trouble, this is all I’ll say: be very careful which agencies you trust with the care of your disabled loved ones. You have no idea the kind of things that are sheltered and swept under the rug in the name of saving a few bucks and keeping staff as low as possible at all times.

Cut out of lines?

Just curious, does anyone else experience this at their local WinCo?

Shift changes happen. People get off, people need breaks, I get it. But I’ve literally never had this happen to me at any other grocery store, and it happens quite frequently at my local WinCo, so I was wondering if there was some kind of correlation lol

At my local WinCo, if you have to use the checkstands, you better watch your cashier like a hawk. If you don’t, they will MAKE EYE CONTACT WITH YOU, nod at you, generally acknowledge your patience in their line….and then tell you to go to a different line after 10-15 minutes of being in theirs. If you’re about to close or change, and you see someone ABOUT to get in your line, sure, tell them to move! Put your sign up and turn your light on. But what I can’t understand, and what gets me going so bad so fast, is when I’ve been sitting in a particular line for over 10 minutes and all the sudden the cashier leans over and shoves their sign between my groceries and the groceries of the guy in front of me. Like I will have all of my merchandise on the conveyer, and I’ve been sitting in line for a good while, the cashier has acknowledged this and it’s just… “sorry I have to close, go somewhere else”.

This happens probably every other time I go to WinCo. The other night I lost my temper and stormed out because it happened to me with three lines in a row. Waited a LONG time in the first one, probably about 15 minutes. All of my groceries are on the belt. The cashier was even chatting with me while checking out the other guy. And then she looked me dead in my face and told me to go to another line. The person behind me was pissed too, but we both shoved our things into our carts and went somewhere else. Then the same thing happened!! Cashier watched me load all of my groceries onto the belt, waved at me…and then 2 minutes later told me that I needed to go to another line and closed her line. Third time’s the charm right?

No. I go to a THIRD line, I literally ASK HIM if he’s closing soon, and he says “no come on up” so I start loading my things onto the belt behind the other shopper’s things. I make it 5 minutes in this line before cashier hits me with the “tssss, sorry but it’s my lunch, I gotta close my line, you can try self checkout!” (Which I couldn’t do, because I was paying cash)

I’m not proud to admit that I did lose my head a little and I didn’t put any of my groceries back, I just stormed out and left. Went to Walmart instead. This happens so so SO often at my WinCo that I don’t think I’ll return at all. Just wondering if anyone else has to put up with this same bullshit, or if it’s just my WinCo 🤣🤣🤣

In memory of my sweet Alfred

I don’t think I will ever understand. I didn’t get nearly enough time with you Alfie cat. I will never forget the hour I spent on my belly on the cold floor, earning your trust underneath the clothing rack. I’ll never forget the moment you finally came to me and fell asleep in my arms.

October 1st 2025 I brought you home and June 10th 2026 I said goodbye. I love you so much and I will never be the same without you

How do you get through it?

I lost my boy Alfred yesterday. I fed my cats and he didn’t come running. I found him sleeping peacefully under the armchair. He was almost a year old, I have no earthly clue what happened and I will never ever ever understand.

I dropped him off for cremation earlier and up until getting home I’ve been able to somewhat hold it together. Crying here and there obviously, but when I got home I just broke down. I can’t stop crying. I went to feed my cats again and I sobbed through the whole thing, poor cats probably had salty dinner.

The worst thing too is I can see it in them too. I allowed them to see him. I talked with them. But I know they’re looking for him.

This is the first time in a long time I have lost a pet. It’s rocking me in a way I did not expect. I got no sleep last night. I can barely be in my house but yet I can’t stand being away from my other cats. I got the day off of work tomorrow given to me but I’m afraid to return after that. I believe my Alfred passed away while I was at work and I will never be able to forgive myself for not being here with him.

I miss him so much. That’s settling in now. I think my whole mind has been on all the paperwork and the drop off and the ins and outs and all the choices and now that it’s over with I’m just sitting here looking at all of his favorite things and all of his photos. I couldn’t fricken cook dinner because I broke down, he used to climb into one of the kitchen drawers and I literally couldn’t even open it to grab my fricken stir spoon. I miss him so much and I want him back.

When does this get better, how does this get better

Conservators & Cameras?

So I made a similar post before in a different sub, I can’t find it but generally here’s what happened: about 6 months ago, a coworker and I were beginning to get uncomfortable on our NOC shifts after noticing that the camera in the client’s living room would follow US around all night. We work NOC shifts alone as single-staff. When I tell you this camera is on us AT ALL TIMES during the night, I mean it. No, it is not motion activated. It only moves when it is being directly controlled, live, by the app on conservator’s cell phone.

If I move from the couch to the table, the camera is on me within 10 minutes. It is facing the bathroom door when I come out of the bathroom. I can hear the zoom when it follows me to the table with my food. I thought I was being crazy and paranoid (I have a history of abuse/stalking from an ex, involving cameras in my home) until I had a convo with another one of my female coworkers and a male coworker.

My female coworker shared that she was noticing the same thing and it made her feel weird. Both her and I have a GREAT relationship with our client’s conservator so it felt weird why he is excessively watching us on the camera at 1am, 2am, 3am etc. Male coworker chimed in and said “that’s weird, the camera never moves when I do NOCs”. Both of us truly tried to shake it off but that comment did raise our suspicions even more.

6 months have passed. We have a few more male coworkers now. The behavior has continued and recently, I decided to ask all of our male coworkers. ALL FOUR OF THEM were shocked and didn’t even know the camera moves. All four confirmed that the camera has never followed them around when they are working alone at night.

Listen I do not want this to be what it sounds like. This conservator is, who I want to believe, a great guy and I see him like a father/grandpa figure. I have a lot of trust for him. But about two weeks ago, the straw that broke the camel’s back for me was when he was talking about his wife and started talking about how they sleep in separate rooms. I began getting a little weird at that point and then he started talking about how he and his wife haven’t had sex in 7 years, and that he has a hard time sleeping at night being “alone”. As SOON as he said that I thought of the camera and I kinda went clammy.

My coworker and I have brought this up to the office several times, and mentioned how we are getting uncomfortable given the fact that (as far as we can tell) it is only the female staff being watched on the camera and combined with the inappropriate comments recently. They are unsurprisingly very dismissive. This client has a long personal history with the owners of this company, as does the clients conservator. It is also weird because they specifically disallow other conservators from having cameras in clients homes but for some reason they let this one have one. They tell everyone else that it is for the “privacy of the employees”, which I disagree with because I do think a conservator should be able to keep an eye on their family member. But it’s just going too far.

I guess what I’m asking is, if my company doesn’t step in regarding the weird inconsistencies between male and female staff or the sexual conversations, what can I do? Who could I contact? Again, I think conservators should have a right to a camera and I’m not asking for it to be removed, but I don’t think I should be obligated to feel like I am being stalked at work.

Oh also; the other day, because of WiFi issues, the camera was having major connection issues. Male staff was on staff all day. Conservator showed zero concern in getting the camera to work. Found out about 20 minutes before shift change that one of my female coworkers was coming in for the NOC, and then he sent about 12 messages in the span of 5 minutes trying to instruct that male staff on how to fix the camera and insisting that he have it fixed before shift change. That’s just one more instance that really doesn’t sit right with either of us.

TL:DR; Our clients conservator has a camera in the home and follows female staff around with it at night, does not do this to male staff. Also tends to spark inappropriate and sexual conversations with same female staff members. Office + company is close with this conservator and refuses to address the discomfort brought up by myself and other female staff.

ETA to TLDR: No, camera is not on a timer nor can it be set to motion sensitivity/tracking. It is only controlled live by a person using the arrows, the only person who has access to the feed is the conservator. Camera doesn’t really follow me around on my day shifts, only night shifts.

Extra pet-rent for ALL tenants with pets?

Location: California

I live in a very nice apartment complex with generally nice neighbors. However, for the 2 years I’ve lived here, every door gets notices probably once every 3/4 months about dog poop on the lawns. This is one of the only pet friendly rentals in the whole damn county, and 90% of the people here have pets, mostly dogs. And yet, notice after notice, there is always someone leaving their dog poop out.

We recently got a notice saying that if you are caught leaving dog poop on the lawn STILL, you will receive a $200 fine per incident (as they should) but that, if it continues for another month, the complex will be adding $175/month PER PET PER LEASE, for *all animals in the complex*. They are talking about applying this rent to people who don’t even have dogs.

I have two cats. This would increase my rent by $350/month and I would literally have to move. There is no way I could afford that. Why should I have to be penalized because of my shitty trashy neighbors?! Is this even legal?

I know people are upset about this because I think some of my neighbors actually called the news about it. There are plenty of people here who only have one or two INSIDE ONLY house cats. I can’t imagine how they’d legally be allowed to raise everyone’s rent for the actions of a few people, especially when they already have cameras posted around the lawns where it happens the most.

I don’t know what I would do if my landlord tried to raise my rent. I wouldn’t be able to afford it but I doubt I’d find anywhere else that will accept my cats (it’s that bad, less than 25% of properties accept animals at all and out of the ones that do, 90% of them only accept dogs) so I am kind of freaking out.

Looking for help with groceries

Hello all, my name is Fran and I am currently in a predicament with my food situation. I work as a direct support caregiver and due to an issue with my direct deposit form, I haven’t been paid yet. I had $50 from last month’s budget left that was supposed to get me through until I got paid two weeks ago, but that hasn’t happened yet. I have managed to make what I had stretch but I have no food left for myself (and I’m not in the interest in eating out of my cats bowls 🤣)

If anybody could help me get some staples, I would be so grateful. I’m looking for a loaf of bread, some peanut butter and jam, microwaveable rice/pasta cups (I DO have a stovetop so regular rice or pasta works fine as well, microwave is much easier given my time and work schedule). Canned soup or ramen. And maybe a case or jug of water. Just a few staples that will get me a sandwich and hot meal a day for the next few days, until I expect my check to finally come through on the 19th.

Depending on which store, I can drive, but it has to be close to where I live. I have just enough gas in my car to get myself to my next three work shifts. There is a Walmart within walking distance of me!! I live in Northern California.

I am stocked well on cat food, they are eating better than me right now 🤣 I never come on the internet to ask for help, and I would like to come back here and pay it forward when I can. If anyone would be willing to help me get a pickup or delivery order for this, I would be so incredibly thankful!! 🥹

It is currently 10pm and I will be going to bed soon, but thank you all in advance!!

I’ve been working for almost 10 years, had many jobs, I have plenty of experience with annoying coworkers. This one just takes the CAKE. I have genuinely never encountered an adult that pisses me off so badly, coworker or not.

We’ll call this coworker Smith.
Smith comes to our company from another company (where I believe they were a supervisor) and they do NOTHING. I mean literally nothing. They’ll walk into work and sit down for an hour eating their lunch, but if *I* walk into work and *they’ve* been shifted before me, they’ll immediately start bitching about everything they need me to do because “they’ve been doing this for hours now”. But when Smith relieves ME (and others) who has also been working single-staff for hours, and I try to give them some tasks, they will literally just point to their food before sitting down to eat. Usually they take over an hour. Then they get up, walk to the great room, and sit down on their phone for the rest of their shift. EVERY TIME you need help with something, “they have to go to the bathroom” or “have to take a phone call” or has something else to do.

We work in a healthcare related field, doing work in client’s homes. They’ll sit on their phone and call previous clients of theirs, talking about how much they miss them…meanwhile, they’ve practically ignored OUR ACTUAL CLIENT for the majority of their shift asides from a quick “hey there” when they walked through the door.

Also, when we are double-staffed, we are supposed to have a “tag-team” approach so one of us sits with the client and the other tends to chores/tasks. Well, none of us can trust them to sit with the client, because if I take the chores, I’ll randomly go out into the great room and Smith is just gone. In the bathroom again, or out in their car smoking, or out taking a call. The client will be in a position that tells me that Smith has been away for at least 10+ minutes. As a result, anybody who works with Smith will end up sitting by the client the whole shift, Smith doesn’t do any chores, so the shift ends and the next staff comes on to a restless client and a messy house because nobody could step away for long enough to get things done without risking our client being left unattended.

Smith is one of the older people on our team, a grown ass adult, and I’ve literally worked with TEENAGERS that act less entitled and annoying. They’ve been spoken to by management multiple times. Every single person on our team, manager included, has gone to our higher ups and complained and suggested Smith be moved to another facility. I genuinely cannot stand working with them to the point where my stomach drops when I see them on the schedule with me. I literally feel like I’m babysitting them when we’re shifted together.

I’ve come to accept now that upper management will likely not be moving them, despite rising conflict. (I literally got in a huge fight about it last week because I worked 14hrs with no second staff and when Smith came in to relieve me, they actually demanded that I stay a few more hours because “it’s not fair to be alone”. I had been alone 14 hours!! They were called specifically to relieve me and send me home, after everyone else kept calling out!!! obviously I did not stay but my poor therapist had to deal with that crash out lol

I don’t know, I’ve just never encountered anyone so grown and so boldly lazy and entitled. One of the cherry-on-top moments for me was when they walked into shift and immediately got on their phone to the point where one of my clients conservators had to stand up and start taking care of the client (who Smith was sitting right next to).

TLDR: I’m stuck working with a coworker 2x my age who’s very entitled and actively refuses to do their job, leading all of us to end up pulling double the weight. How do yall detach/disassociate while at work with people like this? How do you ignore when you feel like you’re babysitting a coworker?

Name and pronouns changed for anonymity.
