Northrup Homes Enforcement

Has anyone tried to take Northrup Homes to court for their enforcement policies in their neighbourhoods?

Sitting a a friend's house when a Northrup truck pulled up to the neighbour's house and told him that they had a work order to stain the deck and repair a section of lattice.

Notwithstanding the fact that the lattice should be replaced and the deck could use a coat of stain, I found it incredulous that a company can waltz onto someone's private property and perform maintenance without the consent of the homeowner. Luckily the homeowner basically brushed him off and told him to get lost, so none of the "work order" was actually carried out.

Had it been me, and my recommendation to the neighbour, I would get a lawyer so fast and have them sued.

They seem to treat these ridiculous covenants like a HOA.

Imagine paying a guy to drive around and hand out infraction notices. Such an awful, abusive company.

E-Bikes/Scooters

Maybe it’s time Moncton adopts a policy on these things. No helmets, zipping up and down streets at 40+km/h, no license, registration and more.

Those Vespa type scooters a few years ago required a full license and insurance/registration. But now it’s the Wild West and someone is definitely going to be killed - just a matter of time.

Lens Suggestions for travel

Hi there

Will be visiting Spain, France, and Italy next month and looking for some advice on which lens I could buy to get teh best photos possible, in general terms.

I travelled to Germany, Czechia, Hungary, and Austria in the spring with the kit lens and a prime 50mm (EF with an adapter), and the shots were quite good, but I found I either could not get the reach I wanted or sometimes lost part of the image since the lens wasn't wide enough.

I'm considering the following

RF-S 10-16 for $409 CAD

RF-S 18-150 for $699 CAD

Sigma 18-50 for 749 CAD.

Any recommendation on these lenses for my specific scenario? I don't think I'll be taking a load of indoor photos, maybe some outdoor pics at night, but mostly landscape images.

Thanks for any advice!

Amex Bonvoy card - Canada

I retired last year and am currently a Platinum member, but will drop to my lifetime gold status next year since I travel far less.

I am 39 nights from lifetime platinum (have the 10 years but missing nights). With the Amex card, I see you get 15 elite night credits per year for $120 card fee.

Seems like an easy way to get my remaining credits for lifetime platinum when combined with the 10-15 nights I do annually for personal travel.

Any catches I might not be aware of? I don’t see a minimum spend for the credits. I read that the 15 nights are credited to your account within 6 weeks of approval and then subsequent years are deposited in March.

Seems like this would get me to lifetime platinum in no time.

Thanks!

Options from Livorno - other than Florence and Pisa

We will be visiting Livorno on our cruise and our port time in 0700-2359 in late September.

Not sure if we want to spend a couple of hours on a train to visit Florence as we are not really into renaissance art and such. Plus we'd like to visit it, and the surrounding area, on our long Italy visit next year.

Are there any other areas reasonably close to Livorno that would be a low key place to visit? Maybe see some beautiful Tuscan scenery, taste wine, etc?

Any recommendations?

Thank you!

Chest growth - or lack of

58M, 5'9, 155lbs skinny fat. Been working out for about 6 months but can't seem to improve my chest at all. It still seems a little "flabby and flat" to me.

I've been following a 4 day split UULU with the last day being more of a "lighter workout".

Chest specific exercises happen on day 1 with DB flat press (35#), DB flies (tricon method 15#), DB incline press (25-30#) and close grip DB press (25#). All are roughly 12 reps for 3 sets each, except close grip press which is 2 sets.

Is it reasonable to expect some definition and growth by this period? I will say that I'm not a huge eater - I do eat 85-90% healthy but I don't expect I'm getting enough protein. 8-10 oz of chicken, beef, pork each day, 4 eggs for breakfast, 2 protein shakes per day, and maybe some ham or tuna in a sandwich for lunch.

Could the chest routine be improved upon? I have the adjustable DB with a bench and a power tower.

Any insight?

Thanks!!

Fibe TV app is basically useless

At the airport and wanting to watch the FIFA game on Fox but the app says I have to be on my home wifi in order to view it?

What’s the point in that?

Just another stupid rule from Bell

Overnight highs

Not gonna lie - loving this explosion overnight, but I’m hoping it’s not going to end up tanking tomorrow after the earnings come out.

Not sure what’s driving it like this tonight. Hoping it means some insiders know something big is being announced in the morning.

Big drop

Still holding, but obviously bought in too early.

I’m sure it will recover 🙂

Any reason why it’s dropping - is it the drop in bitcoin?

Will get back in next week

I owned HIVE a couple of years ago and sold for a nice profit when it went from $3 to $5 and now that they have reinvented themselves for the future, I think I will jump back in again.

Looking to buy the dip on the TSX next week :)

Northrup Homes Covenants

I've got to say - I've never seen any company act on covenant issues like this one. I could understand if it was leased land, but on freehold land it stymies me. To pay a guy to drive around and hand out silly letters just seems a little over the top. The worst thing is that it doesn't even seem to be equal - some people get "warnings" for the smallest of things while others with far worse infractions receive nothing.

I was visiting a friend a couple of weeks ago when the guy arrives with his letter. Something about mowing the grass - which had been done two days earlier. The guy says I still have to give you the letter. Friend tells me she gets a letter almost like clockwork. She points to a house that has grass about 8-10" tall and has been for a couple of weeks. She almost feels targeted by them. Last summer, she got a letter because she had a small plastic wading pool on the property for her daughter to play in on the hottest summer days. Immediately got a letter - no pools.

Doesn't affect me personally, but it just seems like a terrible company to buy from.

One of those days....

Ever have one of those days when nothing goes right? Playing my local course yesterday, which has a lot of water, and lost 11 balls 😄

On top of that, just could not make any shots at all. Usually I'm in the mid-high 90s, yesterday was 121 LOL

I might have the record for lost balls in an 18 hole round 😄

Back tomorrow!!

Halifax Marriotts

Seriously?? A night in Halifax costs $600-900 at mediocre marriotts?

Sorry….
