What would you plant here?

A while back, I saw someone convert a tiffany style lamp shade into a plant, and I have been wanting to do the same ever since. I finally found one, but it wasn't until I got home with it that I realized just how massive it is (about 18 in across). Now I have no idea what to plant in to in order not to have a bunch of dead space in the "pot."

Also for anyone worries, I'm not making any change to it that won't be reversible.

I would love to put in something big and bushy (maybe trailing) and preferably somewhat affordable. I thought about a fern but don't think I have the right humidity for it in my apartment.

Details

Light: absent daylight most of the day, direct sun late afternoon

Bowl size: 18" x 7"

Poor humidity

Have cats that mostly leave my plants alone

Terrible with cacti and succulents

What would you do for Solo Birthday Plans?

So my birthday is tomorrow and I am spending it alone and still have no idea what I want to do.

So what would you do if you wanted to spend a whole day in NYC / Brooklyn doing a variety of things. Spefic place you would go or activities. The best / unique to the city birthday freebies?

I am on a tight budget so not looking to break the bank, but what I'm thinking so far is spending at least a little time in nature, maybe a lunch picnic, and some sort of self care / pampering (if I can find an afordable option) and maybe something to do with art.

Insanely cool plant "pot" but need a better "soil"

I got this really cool "pot" a few weeks ago. There were a lot of really cool, more established plants, but ceramics are pricey, so I got one of the smaller spider plants. One thing that did make me nervous is all of the plants were potted in sphagnum moss, and as expected, the small vessel tends to dry out very quickly. Any suggestions on a different material I could replace it with?

Refused this guy from a life on the streets

Was walking around and found this guy tossed out on the curb. Not sure what it is, but I trimmed off the dead leaves. Next step it checking for root rot because the soil is half water. If you have knowledge or advice, it is welcome. Otherwise, I'm excited to see what he looks like when he's happy

Analysis Paralysis picking out new demo reel mysic

I have been looking, on and off, for days for a new song for my new demo reel. I know I'm probably being to picky but everything I'm coming across seems to be a comatose lofi beat or no interest to it at all. I've already asked for suggestions where to look and am seriously considering having someone else pick one out for me. Idk why I'm so badly blocked this time round but could use whatever advice you may have. He'll if you want to suggest a song have at it.

This was my last reel and I definitely want a similar vibe, tho some of my newer work has made me consider something with my of a synthwave rather than jazzy vibe (still undecided)

Recommendations for daily pain relief?

Lately my knees have been bothering me a lot faster than typical. I live in a city and do a lot of walking but at the end of each day I really feel the strain of being on my feet most of the day.

I used to use 365 CBD Pepperment gel to help with joint relief (along woth advil or Tylenol) but it seems like they've stop making it so I'm looking for an afordable alternative. I'm wondering what other pain relief products/ tools/ techniques people have use that have helped beyond the obvious pain meds, heat/ice, soak. Additionally if there are any specific products people like, especially when it comes to cbd since I've found their effectiveness can differ wildly.

I have been looking for ages to find a royalty free piece of music for my next demo reel. So far nothing feels quite right. Most of what I've found feels like it's the background for a movie, a pharmaceutical ad or is to shirt or a whole song.

Just looking to see where other Freelancers find their music and if there are any specific terms to use when searching.

(Vibe I am going for is big band /jazzy energetic)

Soooooo I am depressed. A little off er a month ago I finally got a job after endless searching, little bit after that my partner left me, and then a few days ago my job unexpectedly ended my contract due to "restructuring."

I have been fighting tooth and nail to get back to a place where I feel normal again, where I like myself and my own company. Tonight I just really need to get out of the house. Original plan was to go see the new Devil Wears Prada movie, I neglected to get ticket in advance so most of the good seats are gone. I'm not really sure I want to be around people, sometimes make me feel more lonely. At the very least I'm not really in the mood for a crowed noisy bar with nothing to do. So what do you do in Brooklyn for a cheep night out where you don't have much energy? (Pref in the bushwick area)

Edit: For those suggesting a work out or a walk, I've already considered that but those type of activities tend to let me dwell rather than provide distraction. Also I'm disabled so it's not the easiest for me.

I don't look disabled. I look like I'm in my early 20s, I don't use mobility aids, there's nothing obvious about me that would make someone give up their seat. The thing is, I'm afraid to ask.

Part of me worries I'm not disabled enough to ask. Some days I start off feeling fine, but I know by the end of the day, if I'm not taking every opportunity to sit down, I know I'll really be hurting. I have it better than most people with my condition and I do ok, but I hurt and ache often, especially now I have a job I need to commute to with heavy supplies.

I carry an invisible disability lanyard with me most of the time unfortunately, few people actually know what it means. I've

considered getting a cane, but tbh I have not idea if it would help me at all and would be more cumbersome than anything, would just make it more obvious I have mobility problems.

I know a lot of this is just me needing to get past my on anxiety, but how would you handle this situation, and does anyone have any ideas how we could raise awareness so people recognize the lanyard?

I (28) have 2 cats. One roommate (22) has lived with cats before, the other (21) seems to have no idea how to interact with one.

Sporadically, over the past several months the 2 of them have come to me to tell me that the apparment smells because of the cats. I will admit sometimes I'm not on top of the litterbox as I should be and I am partially nose blind to the smell, however they describe the smell as completely unmanageable. That they cannot stand to be I'm the main areas for any amount of time. While I'm am a bit nose blind I am not that nose blind.

Since they started I have been a lot more consistent. Additionally I have gotten diffusers, charcoal oder absorbers, air filters, candles, the works. It got to a point where I hadn't heard anything then yesterday I got a mostly friendly, hey it's starting to smell, can you priorize taking care of the litter box. This was not big deal to me. I needed to do a deep clean of the box anyways. But then again today: there's a really strong smell in the living area I think the cats are peeing / pooping in the main areas. I have never had an issue like this with my cats. They aren't stressed or territorial, it would make no sence for them to do this at all. Regardless I come scour the apartment. I smell nothing, I find no evidence. I have lived with other cats before where this was an issue so I know what to look for but there is NOTHING.

I check to confirm they it was a cat smell and they insisted but I am so confused. I am convinced they are smelling something else, making it up or exaggerating because I am trying so hard to eradicate this smell and they never seem to be satisfied. Idk what to do because I don't want to be the problem roommate. On top of it all it feels like I'm the only one cleaning this damn apartment and I'm struggling with so much in my plate rn.

Edit: Cleaned the litterbox just the night before, this morning got a txt saying the apartment smells "really really bad." Now I'm convinced they are complaining everytime the cats freshly take a stinky shit before ot has time to air out.

I'm going through a rough break up and moved to NYC a few months ago. I've been kinda depressed and rn everything feels kinda bleak so I'm looking for movies and TV shows that make me feel excited to be living here again. Preferably show that really feel like they're about living here rather than just set in the city. Think sorta Sex in the City (not my ussualy kinda show but I enjoyed it and it really seemed to capture the city), the Bold Type, movies like When Harry Met Sally and You've got Mail, bonus points if it's about female community / friendship (al open to suggestion of that nature not set in NY ie practical magic)

Ultimately I want some feel good suggestions (low drama) to help distract me until I feel motivated again lol
