Apple Fritter Wings

Folks, as you may know it's wing week. What you may not know is this:

Chattanooga Pizza Company No. 2 is dishing out apple fritter wings in celebration of the holiweek.

I found myself driving past today and thought that apple fritter wings sounded intriguing so I popped in and got an order.

Guys...

Guys these were not only the best wings I've ever eaten, these hunks of meat and bone transcended every culinary experience I've had in my life. I believe in God now, and God is whoever made those wings. I want to be baptized and/or waterboarded in that sauce. I want these wings for breakfast, lunch, and dinner every single day until my death, at which point I want to be cremated on a funeral pyre comprised entirely of apple fritter wings.

Seriously, go get some apple fritter wings.

Note: I am not endorsed or sponsored by Chattanooga pizza company in any way. However, if they'd like to repay me in apple fritter wings I would happily accept.

My best/most tragic game ever. Imagine if I had picked up the spares...

Eight weeks into taking bowling seriously. I have a goal of hitting 200 with a house ball. This is the third game where one easy spare would have pushed me into 200. I'll get there soon!

[request] Deep games that don't need a wiki

I've really been enjoying Shattered Pixel Dungeon and Pathos lately, games that are mechanically simple but with a ton of depth.

What I don't like (Pathos is really bad about this) is having to look things up on a wiki to survive. What similar games embrace discovery, exploration, etc that don't basically require looking up a wiki?

How do I adjust my throw to account for dry lanes?

I've just started taking bowling seriously. I've been playing in a league and having a blast. I've had an average of 141 up until last week when for some reason the lanes are just dry as a bone(I think that's the issue at least.)

I throw a house ball one hand no thumb. These past couple of weeks I have to get my shot literal millimeters from the gutter to hit the head pin. The ball hooks SO hard and just takes a 90 degree turn 3/4 down the lane. I've changed where I start from, I get my shot as close to the gutter as possible (scary) and I've tried to give less spin yet it still just yeets itself off to the left. Any advice?

I could use some help with Crime and Punishment...

Crime and Punishment is the first Russian book I've attempted. I've tried thrice to get into it. The first time I didn't even make it to the murder. The second time I had a bit more success, but I still ended up putting it down shortly after the murder. This time I'm bound and determined to get to the end.

I've been SLOWLY making my way through (this thing has been on my coffee table for over a year now)... I'm a little over 200 pages in and folks I gotta admit, I don't have a damn clue what I'm supposed to be getting out of this book. He killed a lady, stole her gold, hid the gold, worried so much about someone finding the gold that he threw it away (am I remembering that right?), quite literally worries himself sick, and people talk a lot about a bunch of things that are of no concern.

I KNOW I'm missing everything I should be getting out of this book, what sort of mindset change should I employ/what new perspective should I approach the remainder of the book?

I'm convinced that my hips are made of rebar. Please help me create a routine that actually works for me!

Time for backstory: I'm 30. When I was about 13-15 I was quite flexible. Since then I have locked up tighter than a nun's pussy. I'm lucky to spread my legs to a 90° angle.

I've tried for probably 10 years now to achieve a decent level of flexibility. Whatever I try simply makes my hips lock up even tighter.

I'm overall quite athletic. I'm a rock climber, caver, backpacker, and cyclist.

My partner and good friends are personal trainers. Even they are stumped by my utter lack of improvement.

I thought I'd turn to the dedicated experts with this conundrum. I'm thinking I need to start with like the barest minimum stretching possible to stop the tissue from locking up.

Any advice/exercises y'all recommend?

Edit for clarification: my upper body has great mobility, as do my quads. it's just my hips/hamstrings.

Do I need a surveyor to pin the corners of my home or can I use geometry?

I'm building a house. When it comes to pinning the corners for the footings, what I initially did was split the home into rectangles and used basic geometry(ie measure each segment, opposite corners, mid points. If they're all equidistant then they have to be square. At least to my understanding) to ensure they were all within 1/4" of being perfectly square. I've heard some other folks tell me that I absolutely have to have a surveyor come out and use whatever fancy apparatuses they have to pin the corners. I welcome any input on the situation. Thanks!

Note the homesite is nowhere close to property lines

Structural Engineer?

I'm building a home, and it seems it may be in my best interest to consult with a structural engineer for the foundation portion of the build. Are you a structural engineer? Do you know a structural engineer? Have you previously had a nice experience with a structural engineer? If you answered yes to any of these questions I'd love to hear from you!

Could use some foundation guidance.

As one may suspect from this subreddit, I'm building my own house. I've been in construction for basically my entire adult life, and I'm pretty comfortable with the overall process. The one part I'm not familiar with is the foundation. I understand the concepts, I am not very skilled in practice. Here's my dilemma:

When digging my footings last weekend, I dug them much too deep in many places. They're also not especially leveled yet. Can I

A. Return soil to the trench and let it compact with rain/get a jumping jack(aforementioned soil is Tennessee clay)

B. Add gravel to the trenches to both level and reduce depth, or

C. Deal with the consequences of my actions and pour extremely deep footings while kissing my money goodbye

I am in Hamilton County Tennessee which uses the 2018 international building code. I have attempted to find all this information on my own to no avail.

I'm residential. Is the switch to B2B worth it?

I've been in residential sales for a long time. I started in 2014 in roofing. I went to non-sales roles for a few years, I'm back now. I'm currently doing residential pest control sales. I've been wanting to switch to B2B because apparently that's the place to be. I've been thinking today though, is it worth it? Let me tell you why I've suddenly got some pause.

My job is CHILL. I prospect, I show up, I try to close business, I follow up with previous clients. That's about it. Nobody is breathing down my neck, I don't have to jump through hoops, it's peaceful. I don't make the most money, last year I made 70k and this year I should be right around 100k. That's a comfortable living for me, though my goal is to hit 180k before I'm 38 and I don't know if I can get there doing residential.

I've been in talks with an outside recruiter for some uniform people that start with a "C"(I don't know if I can say names here.) folks, this man is ANYTHING but chill. Now I get recruiters have to be a certain type of way but my god. Every time I've been on the phone with him it's been at least an hour. It's given me the sense that maybe I'm wrong about swapping to b2b and that I should stick where I'm at.

Remarkably Bright Creatures discussion. Huge spoilers inside!

My wife and I both LOVE this book. We just finished the movie and thought it did a pretty bang-up job of staying faithful to the story and capturing the overall vibes and feelings. There's one detail we're having a debate on, and I'm curious about the opinions of the greater internet.

She is of the opinion that Marcellus dies at the end of the movie, as soon as he delivers his final line. I'm of the opinion that he was simply done telling his tale, so he has no further need to speak with us and will live his final days peacefully in his home.

What do you guys think?

Edit: I just want to be perfectly clear I'm well aware that Marcellus is not long for this world. His death is "imminent" as he himself says. The debate is whether he dies AT the end of the movie rather than shortly after.

I've gone from V11 to V8 in the past couple of years. I don't know why.

This post is really just a rant, though if anyone has advice my ears are more than open.

I've been climbing for 13 years now. For 11 of those years, I just climbed. I would occasionally do a hangboard workout or campus a little bit, but the VAST majority of my time was spent on the gym wall, systems board, or outside. I climbed my first V10 and first V11 in 2020(thanks lockdown). Since about 2021 I've been pretty hard-stuck in a plateau.

I really wanted to send v12 my 12th year of climbing, so I decided I would buckle down and start training. I started doing focused drills on the wall and actually lifting. Season came around, I'm feeling strong, start tapering my training, and...... I send basically nothing. I managed to tag one 10, one 9, and one 8(which to be fair felt every bit a 10).

End of season-- I chalk it up to having goals that were too big. No worries! We'll dial it back and meet ourselves where we're at. I move back into training phase.

Last season comes around aaaaaand..... I'M EVEN WEAKER. I was intentionally not trying things close to my limit, and they still felt just as hard.

Here we are now. I've basically scrapped all training and I'm just trying to learn how to try hard again. I've been able to pinpoint that my fingers have lost a lot of strength, so I'm working on that. I primarily climb on the TB2 and a 45° spray wall. I used to be able to fire off v9-10 relatively easy on the TB2. Now even the 7b+ climbs feel impossible.

Like I said, this is mainly just a rant. I've been pretty frustrated for two years trying to get back on track and I've yet to figure out a solution. I thought screaming into the void may help, and perhaps the void just may have an angle I haven't thought of.

Edit: dear everyone, I really appreciate the input from each and every one of you!

[REQUEST] I'm looking for a very specific game... Does it exist?

Okay, here are some bullet points of what I'm looking for, in relative order of importance:

-LOTS OF CLASSES AND BUILD VARIETY WITH UNIQUE ABILITIES: this is number one. I want to feel like I'm building DND characters while I wait for my next session

-unique solutions to problems: the ol' "get your character strong and then trade blows with monsters" gets really stale to me really quickly. Buriedbornes suffers from this.

-does not require a two semester class to competently play: looking at you, nethack, CDDA, DCSS....

-minimal story: I just don't care. If I want a story I'll read a book. If I'm playing a game it's because I want to enjoy creativity and mechanics, not follow a storyline

-portrait mode: not a must, but a big plus.

-does not rely on fast twitch controls: real time is okay if it doesn't require fast button presses. I prefer turn based.

Open to any and all suggestions!

I have a level 5 barbarian. I'm bored. Where can I take him?

Bear totem barbarian is just getting a little bland. The whole "tank damage, attack twice" combat turn is pretty boring, and I have very little utility outside of combat other than being strong. Based on our campaigns storyline it would be neat to go into either paladin or echo knight. With paladin, I don't have nearly the required charisma and I see that the 2024 edition of 5e completely ruins the paladin/barbarian synergy. Echo knight would be really awesome with our storyline, but we level up SOOOOO SLOOOOOW and it would be probably a year before I actually reach the echo knight part of fighter. What do you guys recommend? Alternatively, if you have ideas to make barb more fun I'm all ears!

Edit: stats are 16str 14dex 16con 10int 8wis 8cha

Is it better to have really good shoes that are a little small, or not so good shoes that fit right?

I just ordered my first pair of shoes. I found an absurd deal on Dexter sst 8 pros.I got a brand new pair for $80. Thing is, they only had one size and unfortunately they're slightly small. I'm a rock climber so I'm not too bothered by snug shoes unless it impacts performance. My question is will it be better to just live with the snug shoes, or get a lower-end model that fit properly?
