The Genius of If The Emperor Had Text To Speech: Episodes 5-7 (Reaction/Analysis)

The Genius of If The Emperor Had Text To Speech: Episodes 5-7 (Reaction/Analysis)

These episodes were pretty great to revisit!

Of course, the Fabulous Custodes were a highlight of them. Aside from the Jojo reference, they are hilariously over the top, even before they became distinct characters.

Yeah, at this point, they're basically all the same person. Buuut, that doesn't meant they're not good characters. It's just that we're at the introduction point for them.

We're also establishing the plot, characters, and setting in these early episodes. And Fyodor is already making a fantastic villain with Decius' reaction to him establishing a lot. And Decius' general reaction establishes how different he is from the inquisitor. So, very good.

FALLOUT 4 - BUT EVERY GUN FIRES A NUKE?!? Reggie React

Wow! That was certainly an explosive video! And I loved seeing Fallout 4 get nuked in it! While also being very disturbed by what Nuka World does...

The Genius of If The Emperor Had Text To Speech: Episodes 1-4 (Reaction/Analysis)

Alright! Doing a reaction/analysis of this series!

Sadly, there isn't too much to comment on the writing of the first few episodes. It's good, but it's mostly Emps pointing out how stupid everyone is and complaining about stuff before sending a letter to the Inquisition and Ecclesiarchy.

Still, while there isn't much to comment on, I can say that it's a great way to start the series! It gets the comedy out there right away, sets up the central characters of Big E and Kitten, and gets the main plot started.

So, yeah, pretty good.

The Genius of Hunter: The Parenting: Plane Policework (Reaction/Analysis)

Okay, Plane Policework. Aside from being a day in the limelight for Kevin and Guy, this establishes Pentex as villains.

Before, they were mentioned and hinted at a few times. But this is the first time we really see Pentex in action, fully showing that we're in the werewolf arc of Hunter: The Parenting.

Pentex appears incredible powerful here, pulling up with a full squad of goons who could probably pretty easily make mince meat of Kevin and Guy. And even if they got past them, there's also Ross, who is very likely a Black Spiral Dancer. Also, he might be one of Big D's children.

And then there's Palmer. I have no idea what he is. He's most likely a mage, in my opinion, which shows the power levels Pentax has under its command. But that isn't certain. He could be an executive with a few special tricks, or something else weird.

Whatever he is, his squad was more than enough to intimidate Guy and Kevin, despite the latter trying to keep a brave face. And the fact that they're working with the Tremere of Norfolk is very worrying.

If we ever see the werewolves team up with the family, I am definitely looking forward to their reactions to Kevin. If they don't kill him right away, I honestly think Kevin would probably get along with Stig due to their senses of dramatics.

Though that is speculation. The main point is that this episode established Pentex as a threat. And it did a great job of it. I mean, their opening moment is literally shooting down an airplane.

My Current COFD Party

A Kamen Rider (Deviant, which is very fitting for some seasons of that show).

A Princess (From a fan game, though she's more punchy than Sailor Moon, the actual punchy magical girls don't have designs that scream "magical girl").

A stand user (Geist, looks very different from Giorno, but is Giorno in personality).

A vampire who loves acting like a stereotypical vampire (since Bela Lugosi's Dracula is the basis for that, he's the perfect representation).

A mercenary (Hunter, but someone who hunts for profit and understands the supernatural even less than normal hunters).

And all of them are in Las Vegas. If you were in that city and saw that group of people walking down the street, you probably wouldn't question it.

Let's Play and Analyze Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines: CQM: Part 1: I am a Vampire Wizard!

Vampire the Masquerade Bloodlines is good, but how good? This playthrough series will analyze its writing.

So, first off, we have the tutorial. It's one of the best tutorials in video games. You're thrust into the world of vampires in a way that draws player attention right away.

Smiling Jack is a great character, and he's able to make the exposition on vampirism very interesting. After all, who wouldn't want an elder vampire/ex-pirate to be their tutorial guide?

The introduction to the Sabbat, aside from giving tutorial enemies, establishes one of the main enemies of the game. As well as gives motivation for Lacroix to blow up their warehouse (or, rather, additional incentive. He'd want it destroyed regardless).

And, of course, we get to see some more advanced vampire powers in action while establishing the power level of the game's final boss.

So, overall, very good so far.

The Genius of Hunter: The Parenting: GHOUL LORE: Big-D & Kitten’s Crash-Course on Fatally Addicted

Ah, this episode. It's mostly lore, but there's more to it than that. I think this episode is important for two main reasons:

  1. That backstory with Marckus.

  2. It shows Big D's good and reasonable side.

This part is especially important after he was an absolute menace at the 99-P store. That showed Big D at some of his worst, with him being completely unreasonable and causing all sorts of trouble for a very petty reason.

And, even in the Probing of Kevin, D used a form of torture by hitting him with a frying pan. And, while D does suggest killing the dogs as a form of mercy, there are a few things that showcase his other side.

First, D's dialogue in words and voice actor's performance indicate that he truly cares about helping ghouls and wants to do more for them.

Second, Kitten is able to convince Big D of two things. He convinces him to spare the ghouled dogs, and he convinces him to tell Marckus everything at a certain time.

This shows that D can be reasonable with the right person talking to him in the right way. While he is a menace at times, D is not a complete lunatic.

At his core, Big D is a good person, just traumatized from his past experiences as a hunter. And that is perhaps the most tragic part. The madness that makes him a menace could very well have come from his good side.

The Genius of Epic: the Musical: the Cyclops Saga (Reaction/Analysis)

This is where shit really starts to hit the fan.

Aside from Odysseus' name first being said at the end of this arc, we get the encounter with the Cyclops. Odysseus tries open arms, but it fails hard. Polythemus is not moved by it beyond wanting to kill Odysseus last. His pain is too great.

And yet, even after Polytes' death, Odysseus still spares Polythemus. He tries a variation of the open arms thing, and it once again fails. In fact, it is probably because of Polytes' death that he tries to do this. He's tired of all the killing, especially after the infant thing.

Also, thinking back on it, I think Athena's words to Odysseus to get him to kill the cyclops are probably the worst things she could have said. If Athena said something different, she might have convinced Oddy. But she was filled with rage and disappointment on her own end, not as much as in My Goodbye, but close.

And that caused the fight between them, which resulted in them not seeing each other for years after that. All the while, Odysseus was brought into a world of suffering.

The Genius of Hunter: The Parenting: 2006 Gamer Podcast

Ah, this episode. One that doesn't have quite the views of the other ones, but I still think is fairly important. Not for plot reasons, unless something in it turns out to be massive foreshadowing, but character development.

This episode showcases Marckus and Kitten's relationship without anyone interfering (until the end, at least). It gives us examples of some of their relationship difficulties, like how Kitten is a bit frustrated with the chores and how Marckus' ADHD affects him, and it also lets us see how they care for each other and interact on a daily basis, when they're not on the hunt.

We got a bit of it before in the first episode, but this gives us a lot more that helps to humanize both characters. And I think that's really important.

Also, I really like that Marckus attempted to include Boy in their podcast. It didn't go well, but it helps show their relationship as uncle and nephew and how they do have some things in common. As mentioned in a previous episode, Boy is into video games.

So, yeah, I think this episode is actually fairly underrated.

The Genius of Epic: the Musical: the Troy Saga (Reaction/Analysis)

So, here we have the Troy Saga. The main purposes of it are a few in number:

  1. Introducing Odysseus and some other important characters: Polytes, Eurylocus, the crew, and Athena. Also, give us a reason to like and root for them.

  2. Establish how bad the war messed up Odysseus, especially with how he had to kill an infant despite his reluctance.

  3. Establish the idea of open arms, which Odysseus accepts and continues to for a while in this story.

Aside from that, it establishes the running theme of when a man becomes a monster.

The Genius of Hunter: the Parenting: The Blender Crusade: In Spiteful Defiance of Corporate Villainy

So, I think this episode is actually key to D's characterization.

So far, we've seen a lot of Big D's good side. This is more his bad side on full display. Sure, D doesn't go as far as he could have, and we already knew he stole stuff a lot. But Big D in this episode was insane, manipulative, needlessly destructive, and caused a lot of trouble at the 99 P store because of an utterly unreasonable desire.

It's funny, yes, but it'd be very painful for anyone to go through.

Why is this important?

Well, in my opinion, to establish another reason why D's romantic relationships are a string of divorces. Part of that is because Big D is a hunter and that will come before romantic relationships, which a lot of people won't be fine with. But if D finds someone who would be fine with that, there is the issue of the parts of his personality that could grate on people.

And if he finds someone who is okay with his hunting and the downsides of his personality, there's still the issue that most of his family have lived out of a bus at some point or another. Those three things combined really lower D's chances at finding someone who he could have a long-term relationship with.

Even if he can, there's a chance they're the sort of person that he'll end up breaking things off with.

D is very charming and there are probably a lot of people who could get along fine with him. But you don't have a string of divorces for no reason.

The Genius of Hunter: the Parenting: Something is Wrong with Horse (Reaction/Analysis)

Ah, the Horse episode. I think, out of the early audiologs, this is one of the most important.

Yes, there is the prophecy, which could be critical for the series. And it also generated a lot of hype and speculation that helped it grow, but there's also the characterization. I've seen a lot of people go into Hunter: The Parenting, expecting the characters to be roughly the same.

This is the episode where those expectations were fully shattered. I draw this both on my own experience and some comments in the original video. D shows personal doubts. Kitten is less together than Captain-General Kitten. Door shows Marcus a lot of empathy. Marcus treats Door and Horse like brothers. Horse doesn't betray Big D. And Boy is an alcoholic.

In simple terms, this episode is what put the idea that these were the same characters to rest once and for all. They are based on them, yes, but they are very different people.

Or at least, that's my opinion and analysis. I could very much be wrong about this or have a mistaken impression. Whether or not I am, I hope you enjoy my reaction/analysis of the writing in this audiolog.

The Genius of Hunter: The Parenting: Hunters Hunters Hunted

Here it is, a reaction/analysis of Chapter 3! If shit hit the fan last episode, this is where things really got bad for the first time.

This episode has a lot of action compared to the others, and a lot of suspense. Both of these are very well-written with a few hints of what'll happen before it happens. And one thing I don't see mentioned is how a certain part of this episode is written a bit like a quick draw duel with a few twists on it.

The Genius of Hunter: The Parenting: If the Vampires had a Tortured Wrestling Match

Here is the next reaction/analysis video! This time, the episode where shit officially hits the fan. And as a sort of sneak preview, I do like the pro wrestling references here, even if I'm not a fan of professional wrestling myself.

In particular, I like the irony of a gangrel vampire fighting in a wrestling deathmatch when WWE had a pro wrestler named Gangrel.
