When the owner fully comps one of their friends at your place, how is gratuity handled?

Had an owner comp a $225 table as a surprise and said they would make sure I got tipped on it. Had to remind someone a couple weeks later, twice, though they apologized for forgetting. I wound up receiving $25. Unclear if part of the money went to tipping out the bar and service staff or if they were just being cheap.

I've heard that some places will notify the dining person and that person will ask for a penny charge to tip on top of (usually helps if they've seen the check) or the dining guest will leave a random amount of cash. However, sometimes I've heard that servers just get nothing.

So, what has your experience been?

[Six Flags Great America] is making an announcement about their 2027 additions tomorrow in the Yukon Territory area.

Via the park's facebook page and accompanied by the hashtag #TreeTopAdventure27.

The park has been surprisingly light on teasers this year outside of some terrible wilderness A.I. art on a fence surrounding the demolished former go-kart track. Pre-merger they did very elaborate teasers for Maxx Force, SkyStriker & Wrath of Rakshasa.

The general consensus is a clone of Phoenix from Deno's in Brooklyn due to a shipping crate from Vekoma that was left facing the fence and footers that have been built.

With Cedar Fair's elaborate Jungle Expedition at KD and Shoreline Pier at SFGA, I think it's Great America's turn for more of a heavily themed area and will also involve news about the recently mostly gutted Camp Cartoon area.

Does anyone know why you can't add The Come Up mixtape to your library on Apple Music?

Seems to be playing fine on his artist page for what it's worth.

What music used to play on the overturned jeep's radio on Jungle Cruise in the late 90's?

I remember reading Fodor's Orlando guide in the late 90's and they mentioned something about how there's a funny song playing on the overturned jeep on the Jungle Cruise ride. I watched a POV on YouTube and I can't make anything out so I'm guessing in the decades since it has been updated.

Anyone have any idea what song it was?

Is $2,500 as the first offer for a voluntary bump a rarity?

Flight on the 5th got delayed from BTV - ORD because of the federally mandated rest period starting late on the 4th. Shortly before boarding, the plane malfunctioned. United got a replacement plane leaving in forty minutes. However, it was smaller so they asked for eleven volunteers to take a later flight which might not leave until the 6th. The opening offer was $2,500 in future credit valid for two years with no restrictions.

Has anyone ever experienced that high of an offer right out of the gate? In all my previous experiences, it starts pretty low and then goes up if no one is biting.

Moments in documentaries that you can't believe were captured on camera?

On the Truman Show episode, Blank Check regular Griffin Newman briefly mentioned moments in docs that you can't believe were captured on film.

What are some moments like that for you?

In Weiner, the scandal breaks while Huma Abedin is somewhere else so you see the clip from some major news network, cutting to her finding out and then to the camera that was following Anthony Weiner as he's at the press conference so you see a reverse shot of that event. Impeccable timing and editing.

In The Queen of Versailles, the husband more or less admits to rigging Florida for trump GWB in the 2000 election before saying he should probably stop talking.

In Microcosmos, a dung beetle gets some dung stuck and you see the gears ticking as it figures out how to get it unstuck.

What parks have the most coasters of a certain type? [other]

Out of the five coasters at SWSD, three are launch coasters. Can any park beat that much of an overkill on any coaster types?

Party from a month ago asked for part of the tip back.

We had a large party a month ago. Blocked off part of the restaurant, food and liquor packages, a couple separate servers, etc. You know the drill. Parties include an auto-grat that's listed as a service fee. They left an additional tip when they signed the final bill at the end of the event. I was not present during that signing.

Today a party member said they didn't realize there was an auto-grat and asked management for the extra tip back. The restaurant presumably complied because management told me to acknowledge the portion of the extra tip I was paid would be taken out of my next check.

Have you ever encountered this? Does my restaurant have to reimburse taxes they initially charged me for that income?

On CanobieCoaster's ranking video on SFSTL, he says that their boomerang isn't very comfortable because it uses Arrow trains. Steel Dragon 2000 has B&M trains now which I've heard aren't great, not awful, just not great. I think Goliath at SFNE might have had different trains towards the end of its life too that were much worse?

How does a situation like that happen? What regulations are in place as to what trains can be used for what coasters? Not to mention, if you were a park or manufacturer, why would you want to use a worse option that shortens the life of a coaster?

I know that Boomerang is from SFOT so I'm guessing maybe the original trains were in poor condition but Vekoma still exists. Steel Dragon was a Morgan but Chance has their assets now, not B&M. I'm wondering how Gerstlauer designing trains for RMC until the NTG accident plays into this too.

I'm planning to do a discography run-through the day of and time a first listen during sunset, preferably on a walk through the woods or a long bike ride.

What are the most absurd tip-out policies you've encountered?

I'm currently at a place with a 30% tip-out that comes out of tips only. I think half of it goes to the bar and half goes to support staff and hosts. First time I've ever been at a place where it wasn't based off food & bev or total sales. I've heard that's rare but not unheard of.

I once worked at a place where we tipped out the bussers, bartender and host. Not uncommon but there was also a minuscule amount that went to...the manager. Didn't realize it was illegal at the time.

What about you?
