How are the lineups for Oakridge Time Out Market nowadays?

It’s been about a month since the food court opened, so I’ve been wondering if the lineups aren’t as bad as before. For those who have been there recently, how are the lineups? Are they still long and do you have to wait for a long time?

For making reports to Transit Police by texting 877777, are we obligated to share our personal information?

I’m asking this question out of curiosity, in case I need to text 87-77-77 in future. I’m wondering about cases where you want to inform them regarding something you witness and not an incident in which you are directly involved. I thought 87-77-77 is more of an anonymous tip line but found they ask for your personal info like name, birthdate, address, etc.

I would prefer not to share this information. If I choose not to provide personal details, do I get into any trouble, or will they simply not proceed with the report?

How long does it take to hear back about a contributed resource on Tutela?

Is there anyone here who contributed a resource on Tutela (tutela.ca) before? It’s a resource bank for ESL teachers in Canada. If so, how long did it take for you to hear from them regarding whether it’s approved or not?

How is the weather like in Hokkaido in mid to late August in terms of clouds, rain, and temperature?

I tried to look for this info online, but the historical weather data doesn't show enough information about the number of cloudy days, and there's not a lot of posts about this online.

I'm planning on going to Hokkaido, mainly Sapporo and Otaru, in mid to late August this year.

I took a look at Accuweather and was surprised to find out they predict almost every single day in mid to late August to be rainy and cloudy. If I look at travel articles about Hokkaido weather in August (but written long time ago so they can be outdated), people say that there aren't too many rainy and cloudy days. Since it's still June, there are chances that Accuweather is not accurate.

Generally speaking, have there been many rainy and cloudy days in August in the last couple of years? If yes, does the sun appear at some time during the day, or is it cloudy and rainy during the entire day?

How strict is Hong Kong Airlines with checking the carry-on luggage and personal item at YVR?

Has anyone used Hong Kong Airlines at YVR? Their carry-on luggage weight is very low at 7kg, and they also say they will measure the personal item weight as well, since it needs to be 7kg for both carry-on and personal item combined.

I know many airlines tend to only state this on their website and not actually measure the weight of the personal item, so I wanted to ask about people’s experience here.

Otherwise, I would need to check my luggage, but I heard they don’t handle checked luggages properly, and my trip has a layover, so I’m planning on taking a carry-on only.

Should I go to Maritimes (Canada) and Hokkaido (Japan) this July-August OR only go to Maritimes?

TL;DR - Facing a potential 2028 layoff, I plan to freeze travel in 2027 to focus on a job search, making summer 2026 feel like my final opportunity to see Hokkaido. I have already booked a trip to the Maritimes and am considering adding Hokkaido after a 10-day rest at home following the Maritimes trip. I must choose between doing both trips and facing exhaustion and financial guilt (I have enough money saved but I will feel this regardless) or doing the Maritimes only and dealing with the painful regret of missing my chance.

There’s a chance I might be laid off from my job in 2028 due to reduced funding, so I need to be looking for another job or go back to school. Since it’s better to do this early, I’m considering avoiding travel in 2027 so travel doesn’t interfere with my job search/schooling.

It’s been my life-long dream to visit Maritime provinces in Canada and Hokkaido province in Japan.

I work in a non-profit with a scheduled 2-month summer break in July and August.

I have this fear that a trip to Hokkaido won’t be possible for an unknown amount of time if I do not go there in 2026.

I already booked my ticket for Maritimes in late July to August. After this trip, I can rest at home for 10 days and travel in Hokkaido between mid and late August. When I return home, I will have 10 days to rest again before returning to work.

Choice 1: Go to both Maritimes and Hokkaido. Get the bucket list items done and feel accomplished. Deal with the financial guilt (I do have enough money saved, but I will feel this no matter what) and nagging from family for doing too much traveling. Deal with the risk of physical exhaustion.

Choice 2: Go to Maritimes only. Deal with the uncertainty of “When will I ever get to visit Hokkaido” hanging over my head as I enter my job search phase. Still deal with the financial guilt but to a lesser extent. Can have a month instead of 10 days to rest before returning to work.

Which choice would you recommend?

How likely is it for Canada to still keep the visa-free status for travel to China beyond 2026?

I have been hoping to travel to Shanghai one day, and because of the 12/31/26 deadline for Canadian passport holders to enter China visa-free, I have been considering booking a flight before 2026 ends.

However, someone told me China usually extends, or renews, the visa-free status for many countries on the visa-free list, and it’s likely Canada will still be visa-free after 2026.

Is this person correct? How likely is it to happen?

How do I emotionally detach away from one friend but stay close to another friend in a group of 3?

I am in a group of 3 (two friends and me), and we usually hang out together. I will call these friends A and B.

For a while, spending time with them has been causing me anxiety and stress, especially due to A’s actions.

There isn’t anything overtly wrong. It’s just that there are subtle signs that show she dislikes me or sees me as someone of low priority or low worth.

On the other hand, I wonder if I’m overreacting and overthinking all of this. I’m second-guessing my sanity every time I interact with her, wondering whether I am right in feeling dismissed by her. Her actions include:

\- Cutting me mid-speech when I’m speaking. She usually cuts in by talking about something totally unrelated to what I was discussing.

\- Not replying to my messages in a group chat. She just clicks the “like” button, and that’s it. I wouldn’t mind if she acts like this with everyone, but she replies to B’s messages. She’s excessively cold to me in a group chat.

\- Talking about my job in a somewhat condescending way, asking questions like “Do you get vacation?” “Do you get sick leave?” when I told her previously that I do.

\- Talking negatively about my appearance, asking questions such as “Why do you always wear dark clothes?”

She also didn’t wish me happy birthday so far although today’s my birthday, and that is another nail in the coffin.

I like B, but since we all hang out together as a group of 3, and I don’t know how to keep my distance from A while staying close to B. Also, A acting more friendly towards B causes feelings of exclusion, and I feel like the third wheel. However, since A didn’t do anything extremely dismissive, ending the relationship completely would be extreme. How should I go about this?

I used the vending machine at the Commercial Broadway Station. I clicked the button for a bottle of Zero Sugar Coca Cola, and the card machine prompted me to tap. Upon tapping, I got a notification from the TD MySpend app that I paid $15 to Coca Cola Coquitlam BC. I don’t think that bottle was $15..

Has anyone experienced this before? This transaction is currently pending, so I’m wondering if this is just a placeholder and will be corrected after getting posted. However, I have never experienced this prior to today’s experience. Usually, the vending machine will allow me to pay the correct amount of money.
