Odd question; Slack iOS on shared devices

I live in a kind of niche world of shared mobile devices, https://www.imprivata.com/products/access-management/mobile-access-management these are iOS/Android devices normally used by frontline workers in healthhcare/commerical and the goal is always being able to allow quick change between users without idenity bleeding over between users. We have a couple different ways of making this happen by using ulc https://apps.groundctl.com/ulc-tester/index.html on ios, android tad easier since we can auotmate clearing cache/force closing. Anyway working with a customer using ipads and Slack is their main tool for chatting and getting info to frontline staff. The only way can make this work in current state is deleting the slack app inbtween users(on ios the users "dock" the device which triggers things through our solution) but that sucks since when you delete it the first setup screen for slack will keep coming up. I have been digging into everything I can but wanted to see if anyone on here had any ideas?

  1. Does slack support msal? If so I could go the path of something called shared device mode(SDM) https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/entra/msal/objc/shared-devices-ios

  2. Anyone here ever use slack in a setup of shared devices?

  3. Customer has reached out to slack and our partner resources have also but I'm inpatient and trying to find something that works

I know this all might seem crazy but its the world I live in :)

My email to Jack about Low

Just got done with the podcast and sent this in, maybe people had different feelings on it.

One thing and wonder if others have a different take the whole Nick part of the story, this nick guy has access to a private jet that can fly non-stop for 13hrs, that is 70 to 80 million dollar jet right there. He then also has enough contacts to land in a place in the USA that had zero customs or questions on why a random 13 year old boy was with him? This is post 9-11, even private jets landing in private airports need to have customs done.

Long time listener, first time emailer

Disappointed I think is what sums up my main feeling about the new podcast and my wife shares that feeling. I have been in IT for 25 years now and she is a social worker but loves the darknet podcast since you do such a great job at making very technical stuff easy to follow.

Why did we have that feeling? The story played like some teenager’s revenge fever dream. In all honesty it felt like the book “Rule of the bone” but starts in Russia.

We both feel very strongly you would not make something up but by having the voice actor vs using his real voice just removed any chance there being an anchor to bring any chance of reality to the show. He must have been beyond convincing for you want to create this 7 years later but without any “truth” for the listeners that this was not just your story it quickly fell apart that a random oil executive just left a bag of cash before hanging himself…really that part of the story makes zero sense.

Anyways glad to keep supporting and being a subscriber but this series missed the mark

Faithless Street-rough shape?

Anyone else get a copy this and have a lot of surface marks on it just out of the package? It’s hard to get a good photo but best way I can describe is it’s comparable to albums I got from the used bin. Ultra sonic cleaned also. Get some cackle on playback every so often.

Salt shed-7/24/26

First time ever seeing Jack live, in my mid forties and loved the white stripes but missed seeing them live which was a always a regret but grabbed tickets to this to combine with a weekend in Chicago with wife and our dog. Big fan of goose island but always went to Fulton when coming to town and have to say love this location for shows. Grabbing a bcbs before a show was a highlight. The layout was great and we easily grabbed a spot just a few rows back from the stage. We typically trying to only go to shows under 2k capacity but this layout never felt like an arena show.

Cheese and rice have seen legend’s and this is like saying the sky is blue but can Jack play guitar, it’s just memorizing watch him play and perform. Setlist was perfect, my only complaint is pretty much just a me thing but I hate seven nation army, never understood how that has lasting power over a song like icky thump, would pay the cost of a ticket just to see that live.

Biggest thought from the show is please please more bands enforce the no phone rule, how nice is it to not have to watch a show through someone’s screen in front of you! Forces people to do the thing they paid for, enjoy the show.
Yet how is it nobody has created a system using rfid that just unlocks the phone bag as you pass through some gates, I work in a field that uses rfid and low power blue tooth, seems like fully possible to streamline this.

Even with three grown kids now its still odd to see kids at concerts, I’m clearly a product of the 90’s but I remember the freedom of being 14 and just getting dropped off a Nine inch nails for my 14th birthday, being told “don’t do anything dumb”. When my own daughter walked in with a black eye after seeing trippy redd laughed at how pumped she was like the time I came home from a pantera show with no shoes, no shirt, and one of the best stories of my life. Not judging or saying it’s bad and guess it’s better for forming bonds but same time hope these kids get to feel the freedom and thrill of shows themselves, feels like the my generation has kind of robbed them of that these days.

Look forward to catching him again next tour

In person training-3 to 7 days? USA based

Hello,

So guy who hated AI and got tired of being told had to use it for their job ended up building an entire analytics platform for the solution I support and turns out I kind of love it. Learn best by failing so made a lot of mistakes at the start but what I built impressed the dev leadership so much they have asked I start working within their guidelines and given me access to some of customer facing solutions to see what I can do.

Here is the thing, I know have a ton more to learn and most people look the other way at how chaotic I’m in my normal role since end of the day get results but if I’m going to get better at this it might help to go through some structured learning classes. Big thing is I’m terrible at online training, type of person if you want to teach me something lock me in a room where I can’t get distracted by emails, texts, can I still name all the members of poison? So looking for recommendations on any training that would be in the fall, I’m in the Midwest but travel to anywhere is fine.

Anyone done a in person they really loved? Any that felt like a scam?

[Wanted] katatonia-live consternation

Looking for this on vinyl, USA based if possible. Not easy to find and willing to pay a fair price. It’s the last full length Katatonia release I need for my collection.

Anyone have a manual? Panasonic SS-7900

It’s an odd duck model that came with a record player, 8 track, and quad speakers. It’s a great little system but love to find the og manual. One was on eBay for a crazy amount.

Interview I did with Anders back in 2022

Title should be 2002, not 2022

Took me a bit to hunt this down, cannot believe this was 24 years ago. It was just done through email and keep in mind was only 22 at the time and had no clue how to interview bands, just ended up somehow working this site since was really good at hunting down people's email addresses in the early days of the net ask them for interviews. I did do one with Jonas but the site went through one of its many internal fights and was shutdown so it go lost to the sands of time.

Viva Emptiness half speed vs 2013 remaster: my thoughts

Setup:

Fluance 85 w/vmn50xSH
Sansui qrx-6001
Normal mode speakers: Yamaha ns-1000
Quad mode active: above speakers paired with Bic formula 6 spec 2
Room setup: my crappy office where the overlords of this house have forced me to keep all my really neato stuff

The 2013 showed up this weekend so figured spin both for science and see what I thought. Spoiler: the 2013 blows the half speed out of the water when it comes to clarity and dynamics. I’m not an audiophile type person here either but switching between the two albums is night and day for which one I would rather listen to. I know this is a tad unfair since the 2013 was reworked in many parts vs the half speed.

Of course everyone hears things differently so nothing against anyone who loves the half speed more.

My vinyl collection & question

Long time fan and lurker to this sub. Had never heard of Katatonia before but back in the olden days of July 2000 I was 20 years old and that month my parents had crashed their motorcycle, dad died and my mom suffered massive injuries and required me to drop the job out of town had just accepted to live with her and help her recover. I got a night off and buddy was driving 4 hrs to attend Milwaukee metal fest and so jumped in just to have something to take my mind off things. Just heard people getting excited about some band who had never played in the states before so followed them into the 2nd stage area. Even with sound issues by the time “Deadhouse” had completed I was a blubbering mess in a sea of metal heads. My musical tastes have changed over the years but Katatonia will always have a special place in my heart.

Which brings me to tonight, was in the process of labeling all my records with QR codes so I know which version they are and as you can tell a bunch if these are the half speed master releases besides last fair deal gone done, are the two LP releases worth hunting down? Is there notable differences?

Side note: fall of hearts-2016-gold, city of burials-2020-silver, Viva Emptiness-2015-uk, Proscenium, and Kocytean are all arriving someday so missing from the pic for now.

As good as dead no longer limited to 1k?

When I ordered it stated each copy was limited to 1k, it no longer says that and has been changed to “this is a limited release” guess since they are showing up a target for sale the 1k no longer applies? Was this discussed already and I missed the memo.

Record stores with rare stuff

I seem to be in Sacramento a lot for work but never really have time to check stuff out but tomorrow have free time. I like record stores with a wall of whales or rare sections, don’t care about new releases. Anything like that in the area? I collect most types, mostly indie/punk type of releases. I still love digging but when on the road for work I don’t have hours to spend going through bins.

What is this photo from? Older movie?

Pretty sure it was at restaurant in Omaha, NE. Yes I have done reverse image searches and tried ChatGPT/claude with no luck. Anyone seen it before? Really want a copy

Have played this record numerous times, for whatever reason my brain never connected the promo mark since most Japan promos have a white label. The obi was on there super tight but after a little wiggling it there was the sample sticker. Good thing I washed the peanut butter off my hands before I spun it this morning :)

Got this since needed another record for reduced shipping, figured it was just a normal reissue but I believe it’s this one https://www.discogs.com/release/28552720-Slipknot-Slipknot

  1. Stema is on the vinyl label, which points to Europe/netherlands but the spine is rr-8655-1 not 0 so not the 1st press from Netherlands
  2. Know it’s not USA due to the stema
  3. Later reissues had different inserts, is the paper sleeve with lyrics printed on them and picture on the other side
  4. Plain cardboard inside
  5. Does not match the many unofficial bootlegs
  6. If it is the one above anyone know the history of 2500 only released, like who did the release?
  7. Came from a Japan with an order of over records so not bought in the states.

Mostly just bored and like to know I’m picking the right one.

Tried some fb groups but nobody seemed to read the info I had already added and just kept saying it was a new one, trust people in this group to be better sources. No big deal if it is a new one, I just like to label stuff correctly
