With the draught/heatwave we're all experiencing here in the Triangle, I took a little time to develop a map for people to see how severe the current and future state of the draught really is. It also could act as a hub for understanding restrictions and such across the region. Feel free to play around, share, whatever. It's all free no signup and selling. If you find a bug just leave a comment and I'll take a look as time allows. Open to suggestions on enhancements/features. Stay cool out there people.
Bought these locally a couple years ago from a military doctor who spent time overseas in the 1960s. Doing some research, The Radio People LTD out of Hong Kong is mostly a cabinet maker and catalogue company that uses a variety of internals. This set in particular has Wharfedale drivers. I’ve only ever seen a couple other sets like it online, making them pretty uncommon. The box is made of teak wood I believe and the grills are pure milled aluminum. Yes, they’re very heavy. About 90lb each. They have an excellent, full sound when paired with a solid amplifier. I had them paired with a Pioneer SX-1050 for a while. The only gotcha is that it’s challenging to find replacement connectors. It’s like a DIN antenna plug for a car radio. Because I am having trouble finding replacement connectors, the speakers are more decoration right now. I’m hoping to bring them back to life soon.
I have a vintage set of speakers made by The Radio People LTD. They have a connector in the back that I’ve never seen before. It looks like a standard RCA but the end is longer and it handles both positive and negative, with one side of the going to the end and the other connected to the collar. The only thing close I’ve seen is a Motorola antenna cable for car radios but that only handles a single wire. Any help finding a replacement or a DIY solution would be greatly helpful. Happy to answer any questions or clarify.
