Let's Talk Pants

I'll be honest, when it comes to fashion, or effort into what I pick to wear, its very minimal.

Im more of a "if it fits its good enough" kind of dresser. However I have been trying to be more mindful as to how I dress myself and what would fit my body type best. One thing that got me thinking was low/mid/high rise in pants and what makes or breaks them for each person. Obviously there are many factors such as body type.

I added photos of myself for reference as I have all three, and shockingly enough (to me), I found the mid rise to look the least flattering. I honestly was expecting it to be the high rise after past posts in this reddit from other people with short torsoes. Unfortunate since they are amazing pants in both quality and comfort lol. I think its due to wear it sits on my waist.

That said, I do consider myself to have a short torsoe but I don't have much issue with high rise even when it sits just under my ribcage. I also don't feel like it cuts toooo much? Which made me wonder if I even have a short torsoe at all

As far as discussion goes, im curious to hear what rise people feel looks best on themselves and why. I find it pretty interesting how much something so minor can change the overall shape of your body. For myself, I prefer high rise. I find I can pair them with a looser fitted crop top which I feel emphasizes a more hourglass figure. But I also prefer the comfort of it over lowrise jeans

For anyone wondering, here are the jeans brands in order from left to right - 000 American Eagle, 00 Kimes Ranch, 1 (Vintage)American Eagle

If Gap Petite was too long for you too

I am 1m53cm (5 feet), and was on a hunt to find flared jeans that were already the right length, since tailoring them would remove the flared bottoms.

I initially tried Gap Petite jeans, since I’ve seen it mentioned here a lot, but they were still was too long. I also tried Abercrombie extra short, and while the length was good, I found the fit to be very weird on the crotch area for me.

What ended up working for me is the American Eagle Super High Waisted Flare Jean, in 00 Extra Short. I am normally a size 2, but maybe because of vanity sizing I had to go down 2 sizes for this product to fit my waist. It ended up not being a problem because the material is, as is advertised, stretchy, so it is still very comfortable on my thighs, but something to keep in mind.

In the picture it looks a tad bit too long, but while I’m wearing shoes it is the perfect length for me.

How do I not look silly when tucking tops into my high-waisted pants/skirt? I'm all bust and then my bottoms start.

Visual provided.

I've followed the advice that curvy people should wear high-waisted pants, especially as I have a bit of a belly and it makes me more comfortable to have a thicker fabric covering my stomach rather than a line visually cutting it in half and bringing attention to that area. But as a shortie, how do I tuck in clothes without looking like I'm half boob and half leg?

Do I add a belt? Is there a specific tucking technique that's supposed to look good (I've tried both French tuck and tucking in the whole thing shirt all the way around). Do I leave my tops untucked, so the shirt stops at my hips? Should I just wear dresses 24/7?

For reference, I'm 5'0" and ~150lb, size 8-10 (medium), chest 37", waist 30", hips 38", inseam 27". Not really sure if this problem is happening because I have a short torso or short legs or both. I am correctly fitted for a bra.

Help please!

hi! I know this look is not for everyone, but can I get advice ? I live in a crunchy mountain cowboy town, and people wear cowboy boots on the Daily everywhere lol.

Do any of these look okay?
Female in 30s❤️

Thank you!

Does this top look flattering on me? What types of tops and pants would you recommend for my body type and where are you getting them?

For reference I'm 4'11" and have a longer torso. Looking for comfortable, easy/low-maintenance, yet flattering outfits I can wear to class as I'm starting college in LA in the fall!

Why is this dress so unflattering on me?

I love this dress - Uniqlo linen blend drsss. I tried the S and the zip doesn’t close and it’s tight around my chest. The L is too loose around the arms and the chest. I’m wearing a M. I have taken in the straps as they keep falling down.

I’m 5ft2, and not sure what to do bc I think milkmaid suits my chest.

Do I just need to lose weight? It’s so bad especially from the back and sides.

Perfect Maxi Dress for Short

Just sharing this cute maxi dress I wore for an event… for any short and skinny ladies like myself, this is the perfect length! I got the S.

I also really love the boning detail — it helps lift the waistline and makes me look a little taller in photos, which is always a plus.

Will link in comments.

Are any of these a yes?

I’ve noticed most women here wear mini skirts or dresses with cowboy boots. I took a few fitting-room photos and would love honest feedback. Which outfit looks the most current and flattering? What should I keep looking for?
I’m in my 30s. Outfit for going on dates for maybe going to dinner walks etc

What do we think of this ribbed knit strapless maxi dress

In love with the twist knot front and cut-out details. Just have to secure it properly in case of accidents when out and about

Lots/Bundles of Clothes for Sale?

I am very petite and struggling with Shopping for clothes.

I am 4 foot 10 inches tall, size 2 and size 35/5 in shoes… And neurodivergent in a way that makes me loathe shopping. Because of the sensory overload I get from trying on clothing and being in loud spaces with overhead lighting I typically give up before I’m able to purchase anything other than absolute basics. I also just went through a really severe depressive period where I feel like I lost my personal style.

I would love to find a way to buy a “lot” of clothing whether it’s a curated bundle from a reseller or just an individual lady that’s outgrown my size and looking to sell their old stuff.

Any recommendations are appreciated!!

Has anyone tried Kavala Collective swim?

I'm curious about the surf suits, but I don't want to spend the money and go through the hassle of return if the torso is just going to be unreasonably long. I am a compact boxy little 4'11 petite and torso/shoulders are alwayyssss too long on me.

Has anyone ordered from this brand before? What was your outcome?

Has anyone had good success with a swim piece like this from any other comparable brands?

Which jumpsuit to keep

I have these two identical-style off-shoulder jumpsuits, just different prints. I already own some polka dots, so I’m torn.

Which one should I keep?

Thanks!

I'm going to a semi-dressy dinner. Are the proportions okay for my height? A longer skirt feels too matronly.
