Keep seeing ads for these micro dose mints. Does anyone know of a dispensary in silver spring/MoCo/close by that sells these?? Previous post blocked on the MoCo subreddit
Hey. New to the area. I was hoping to find a gym in the area and wanted to ask around. I used to have someone that would go with me but I moved across the country. Let me know where you all go or what you would recommend. My DMs are always open too if you would rather message me about it. Right now I was thinking about the aquatic center since it also has a gym. HMU :).
I saw a mouse run across my bedroom last night and I am worried I have an infestation (even though I have been living in this house for 18 months without seeing one).
Does anyone have a good mouse/rodent exterminator that you can recommend that did a great job? I don’t care about non-toxic, I just want them gone.
Hey yall,
Sharing in case you’re in my same unlucky shoes for the heat wave and your AC picked the perfect moment to up and croak.
1a. Inform the landlord in writing!! Even if you called front desk/office, follow up with a quick email. Timestamp everything.
If your unit is still above 80F after that, they have to offer alternative housing until the issue is resolved OR the heatwave is up (I would push for “issue is resolved” considering that Monday we’re still expecting a high of 86 so I doubt anyone’s unit is going to cool down significantly by itself in the meantime).
This is where it gets more confrontational if the temp is above 80F with the extra cooling units, and the landlord/management is refusing to put you up somewhere else (for example if they’re telling you that’s not possible or that renters insurance should cover it):
Call 311, ask to be transferred to “code enforcement”. They will send an inspector out to temporarily condemn your unit and to force the landlord’s hand to provide/pay for alternative housing or to reimburse you for a hotel stay.
In my case my building mgmt took almost 4 hours to confirm that a sister property had an available hospitality suite and to let us know we could move.
Amazon “delivered” a package of mine today and left the photo for proof, however that is NOT my place of residence and I have not a clue where this is. Look familiar to anyone? Amazon won’t issue a refund at this time and says I should “check with neighbors”….
New to the area. Can anyone recommend come walking or hiking trails in the Layhill area? TIA
Falkland Chase residents were sent this email on June 30th around noon. It is now July 1st at almost 9 pm and things are still not fixed - if anything, getting worse. I could understand a difference between “fixing it at 2 PM” and things only get fixed around 5 PM, but it has been more than 24 hours. It’s going to be well above a hundred degrees tomorrow. How does this happen? And mind you, no further updates have been sent. The “emergency line” is now automated and sends you straight to voicemail. I put in an “emergency maintenance request” a couple hours ago with no response.
I can’t wait until my lease is up and I can move.
TP has made the very good decision to cancel Saturday's events due to the dangerously high heat.
We are visiting family who recently moved to Downtown Silver Spring. Where can the family go to watch fireworks on the 4th? We have a car and are close to Metro. We don’t want to do the National Mall area.
At the end of 2025, Consumers’ Checkbook wrapped up our latest grocery store price and quality report, and we figured this community would want to see the numbers, especially given how rough the last few years have been at checkout.
Our undercover price shoppers physically walked store aisles with a 150-item shopping list and priced everything out, and thousands of DMV residents ranked each store for overall quality in our survey.
One big thing we noticed when we started comparing our 2015 report to our latest is that we had to raise our reference family budget from $200/week to $300/week just to reflect what people are spending now. That's before we even started to look at which stores have the lowest prices.
Comparing 2015 vs 2025:
One more thing worth knowing regardless of where you shop: Swapping about a third of your cart to store brands saves around 8% now, up from 5% in 2015. The store-brand options have improved, too.
We're Consumers' Checkbook, a DC-area nonprofit that does hands-on consumer research. The full grocery store report, including how local shops rank, is on our site. Happy to answer any questions about how we approached this project.
I just moved into the Veridian and I cant stand the loud AC noise coming from outside. It gets exceptionally loud at night and sounds like its vibrating through my bedframe. I thought it would go away after moving in more stuff but it’s such a low pitch noise I think it’s just passing through everything.
And FYI I’m hearing this when my AC is off
EDIT: Wanted to add that I’ve lived in places near construction zones and trains (NYC) and this is by far the worst. I have to sleep with my airpods with ANC on.
No but for real though, what happened, and who's getting fired? Is everyone okay? They're going off at a regular speed and not all at once, so I'm assuming it was someone pressing the wrong button and not some kind of fire. If anyone gets any info, post here!
How expensive is Mom's compared to Whole Foods? Is the quality better?
On Tuesday afternoon, I observed pallets of escalator parts being brought into the Wheaton Metro Station lobby. (they were huge gears with multiple bars connected to each.). I assume any repairs would take some time. Would they always leave two running while one is out of service?
I know that it can be counterintuitive to think that adding new homes that not everyone can afford may not help affordability, but research consistently shows this is the case, and I was reminded of this piece of research from Pew recently, please take a look.

The basic concept is the same.
No building more market rate homes is not a sufficient solution on its own, nothing is, we should also do other things, but it’s absolutely necessary and probably the biggest part of the solution.
Affordable set asides and reasonable rent caps and dedicated, subsidized affordable homes are all needed too, but the capacity for those is also limited, and for the last one, public funds are a severe limiter. We should push for more of it, but there is still an upper bound with budget realities
When there isn’t enough of something to meet the need for it, the price of it goes up as people spend more money on the scarce amount of it. And this includes upper income people that buy or rent older housing that would be cheaper if they had newer homes to buy or rent instead of bidding up the price of existing housing.
I want good bagels. Tried cafe K and the bagels taste like they came out of a bag from the grocery store. Where are your favorite NY style bagels?
