Upcoming repairs to the Wheaton escalators?
On Tuesday afternoon, I observed pallets of escalator parts being brought into the Wheaton Metro Station lobby. (they were huge gears with multiple bars connected to each.). I assume any repairs would take some time. Would they always leave two running while one is out of service?
Win or lose, pick up your trash afterwards.

Voting gripe
I arrived at White Oak late in the afternoon to vote. Deciding to use one of the three touchscreen devices, I sat down in the third position in the queue and waited for my turn. Once I was called, I finished quickly as I had pre-marked a sample ballot to guide me. There were four people in the line waiting for their turns when I left.
The entire time, at least 20 minutes, someone sat at the center position and appeared to do nothing but read a stack of candidate fliers. One person ahead of me actually left to switch to a manual ballot because it was taking so long. I know you have the right to show up with no idea in advance who you will vote for, but don't waste other people's time.
Clubs evicted from Senior Centers?
I am a member of a club that has held its monthly meetings at the Margaret Schweinhaut Senior Center in Silver Spring for several years. Last month, they learned that they were among several clubs whose contracts/agreements with the Center were terminated. They have since had to relocate to a public library, seven miles away. As the Center still advertises that they offer rentals, was this occurrence county-wide, or just at this specific location
Tips for the Mama Cozzi's pizza kits.
Some tips to make preparing these a little easier:
- Open the top of the package at least halfway before trying to remove a crust. If you are holding a crust by the rim, and the opening isn't large enough, the rim might rip off if the crust catches on the package as it is pulled out
- The sauce packets are usually stored below the crusts. Take them out and place them on top, or in a separate location. If stored for some time, the crusts tend to sag over the sauce packets, leaving them in a convex shape.
- The sauce packets tend to be a little bit on the small side. It helps to have an additional jar of sauce handy to add the amount you prefer.

209 years ago, today, Samuel Taylor Coleridge published "Kubla Khan or, A Vision in a Dream"
The poem inspired the lyrics and music for RUSH's 1977 song "Xanadu." As well as "Welcome to the PleasureDome" by Frankie Goes to Hollywood, and "Sacred Mind" by Blind Guardian.

They Said He Plays Bass Better Than Me... so I proved them wrong.
When Davie got to the live "Leave That Thing Alone" solo, he gave up trying. :)

Question: Whopper modifications?
I didn't know whether I could create a poll for this.
If you modify your whopper orders, are you more likely to add extra pickles and/or tomatoes, or to delete the pickles and/or tomatoes entirely?
I am trying to learn if would be helpful to modify the self-serve kiosks to reduce order errors.
EDIT: It isn't about the specific items. If you tap the item's image one time, it doubles the amount. Tap it again, it is removed completely. Fixing that logic might reduce errors.
Rt 29 paving continues tonight. Look for delays, closures, and bus detours.
Cones are going up now and the machinery is being warmed up.
Does WMATA have anyone on the ground to provide up-to-date US29 paving project guidance to drivers?
On Wednesday night, Tech Road was closed due to the ongoing paving project on US29/Columbia Pike. This affected the M42, M44, and M60 routes. Unless they are given up-to-the-minute instructions, I assume drivers are forced to find detours on their own.
Paving on US-29/Columbia Pike tonight.
Expect construction delays and/blockages between the Stewart Lane and Cherry Hill/Randolph interchanges.
At Orchard Center, off Cherry Hill Rd. in the Calverton section of Silver Spring, a new restaurant pad is under construction. According to a banner draped on the fencing, this will be a location for Ruthie's All-Day. The northern Virginia chain currently has two outlets, in Alexandria and Fairfax. Information on an opening date or other new Ruthie's locations is not available at this time.
Only two digits away from a RADAR note! Still, very cool, with 4-of-kind together and a pair.
Due to construction on US-29 at Tech Road, M60 buses may not be completing the northern Plum Orchard loop in Calverton/White Oak. (instead, turning around at Tech Rd) It is also possible that section may only be detoured or delayed.
UPDATE: I was on an M60 that was not allowed to turn right at 29 & Tech Road. Instead, it made a U-turn and returned south after dropping off the passengers, who were all local.
I did see northbound buses turn right at Industrial, left on the service road, and right again at Tech. As work progresses, this could all change again.
