I hear people are using Reddit to find hookups / one night stands.
True or false. Seems odd.
True or false. Seems odd.
I f 38 went on a first date this weekend with a m 40 and I haven’t heard from him. I wouldn’t say the date was bad or good. There were no sparks on my end and I don’t think there were any on his end either. Not once did he call me beautiful of give me any compliments lol he did walk me to my car and put an arm around me. Anyway the point of this rant or whatever is because I’m disappointed and sad. Why is dating so hard and so disappointing. I met him on hinge. I just feel really bad about it.
I am a 34m and practically have never dated before. I hadba girlfriend in college for 3 months until she slept with a friend of mine and I guess I was put off by getting hurt. During my 20s I spelt most my time looking for work and working. I never really had an interest in meeting someone romantically or something physical. Ive just kept to myself
But now I am in my mid 30s I am beginning to feel that I want to meet someone and start a family. I dont want to live in regret and wonder what if.
I am high functioning autistic, also have a full time job that makes okay money. Non smoker or drinker due to living in London still with my parents. I have red flags but up front abiut them.
Problem is I don't know how or where to start to meet someone. My friend are all settled down and met the significant others through mutual friends.
Any advice would greatly be appreciated.
Kissed one person. I haven’t even cuddled or hugged someone in a romantic sense. I barely understand romantic attraction 😐 don’t even get me started on anything sexual. I bought condoms a year ago thinking oh I’m getting older and maybe I’ll get lucky. I did not in fact get lucky lmao. Maybe I can do something funny with them cause they’ll expire before they ever get used 😂
I’m a 24M who loves movies, especially the kind that leave you staring at the ceiling at 2 AM, questioning reality.
I’m talking mind-bending plots, brain-breaking twists, and endings that make you need to discuss 47 different theories. Watching a great film is fun, but having your person to talk about it afterward sounds even better.
Someone I can share recommendations with, watch movies together (even from miles apart), argue over plot holes, and occasionally listen to why my favorite movie is actually overrated. 😭❤️
Beyond cinema, I’m looking for something real. Someone to share life with, random midnight thoughts, ambitions, and all the little things that build a genuine connection.
Some favorites on heavy rotation:
🎬 The triangle,Coherence, Predestination, Memento, and Interstellar
🎬 Gritty, high-tension thrillers like The Departed and Requiem for a Dream
Got a recommendation that will completely mess with my head? I’m all ears.
Your opening line: Tell me one movie you wish you could watch again for the first time, or just slide into my DMs with your all-time favorite.
Who knows? Maybe our first conversation will be about cinema, and our last goodnight message will come hours later because neither of us wants to stop talking. 👀❤️
Any girl that been with a guy for some time but he never offers anything be it financial, emotional or physical and instead you feel used because you seem to be the one benefiting him instead?
Hi! I am 18F I used to date around about a year ago found some people, but I’ve been told I’m too emotional, too indecisive, too wanting and too clingy, I have a rough emotional background, growing up people didn’t see me emotions or my need to hug or touch my loved ones on a daily basis, I want a true relationship a long and good one. But I don’t know where to start, I’m a senior in high school while taking college classes I have free time maybe one or two days a week, I take a shot once a week to help my body but it causes me to be a little over weight, I just started not caring about my weight to much this year and I began going out to try new things. I don’t know where to find my forever person but, I want to start weather it be now or later on. I want to have that stability and respect I crave
Im in my 20s, engineering student, home student, the only single one in my friend group (also the only non white one which i feel like might have something to do with it). Just wondering if there's anyone else 20s, educated, looking for a woman who wants commitment, a family, security, has an open mind, and isnt really finding anything even remotely close to that on dates?
People just tend to want one night stands or don't really know how to hold a conversation
Thanks x
Edit: ive tried bars, clubs, societies at uni, pub crawls, then online: hinge, bumble, tinder, Her. I find that those in their 30s showed pictures of their lives, their hobbies, they looked lovely, they looked like they had depth, i wanted to get to know them but they never replied when contacted. Those in their 20s (what i was looking at) were either lathered in so much makeup i couldn't see the person underneath (which is what i want to see, i want to get to know the person) or they had pictures of their shirts off in the mirror or at the gym.... i don't want to see someones body, i want to know a persons values and views, you know? Should i be looking elsewhere? Also why does everyone whos got their crap together have a partner or they're like 30😭
I feel like I have cultivated a lot of great qualities as a person now, I believe I can be a good partner. But I can also tell people are living with subtle expectations, so I want to be aware of them and respond with those in mind when meeting people I'm interested in.
Also, how does the fact I'm not immediately looking to have sex with who I meet contribute to relationships? I would appreciate any stories that relate to this.
to start off, this is my first reddit post EVER so bare with me but:
i'm a guy who's been absolutely struggling to find a genuine connection in the dating scene. i've been single for about a year now, but most of my relationships don't go past that. i'd like to think of myself as a "hopeless romantic", but I feel like my looks don't really give off that image since I'm a 6'2 alternative blerd with tattoos and piercings, built like a teddy bear the size of a club bouncer but I swear I'm the kindest, chillest dude you'd ever meet lol. i'm attempting dating apps, but I don't ever get matches/likes and i'm kind of a lone wolf since all my friends (gaming buds) live in different states so going out is just as bad b/c of my social anxiety of trying to socialize on my own. any tips/advice on how I can improve my search towards finding a genuine relationship?
You want to hook up ASAP, what is your game plan? Asking for a friend.
I went from being married for years to suddenly having to explain that I’m single, but not in the fun “I’ve been focusing on myself” way. More in the “life made an extremely aggressive decision on my behalf” way.
The first time someone asked, “So, what are you looking for?” I almost said, “Honestly? A man who knows how to communicate and won’t die on me.”
🌟 I did not say that.🌟
Dating apps are also a trip. My profile says “widow,” and apparently that makes people either incredibly respectful or deeply confused. One person asked if I was “ready to get back out there,” like I was a lawn chair being returned to the patio after a storm.
I’m slowly relearning how dating works:
* Flirting feels like a software update I forgot to install
* “Talking” apparently means texting for three weeks without making plans
Everyone says they want something serious, but half of them can’t commit to picking a restaurant
* I’m expected to have a type, even though my previous type was simply “my husband”
* Getting dressed for a date now involves emotional preparation, practical shoes, and an exit strategy
* I’m not looking to replace anyone. I’m just trying to figure out how to be a person in the dating world again without accidentally trauma-dumping over appetizers.
Dating after loss is strange, awkward, angering and occasionally pretty funny. I’m taking it one conversation, one questionable profile, and one “hey” message at a time.
hey y’all! so i’m a 33F and have been in 1 long term relationship (10+ years). we broke up in 2020, but we still have gone on as if we are still together. i want to move on and start being comfortable dating new people, but i literally don’t know how. i always find myself comparing everyone to my ex. time is not stopping and i truly want to find someone new and start building a new life. can anyone help with tricks/tips on being more intentional with dating and moving on? TIA 😘
So I met a young woman in her 20s and she tells me the title. I say fine, "means we can fuck right"?
We go on 5 dates in 2 weeks and it always ends up at my place having great sleepovers. I asked her on day one if the other guy knew about us fucking, and she says yes. He's ok with this.
Date 6 I wanted to take her down the Cape May for a 3 day weekend and she asks the other guy if it's ok and he's tells her he wants to be exclusive now. So the answer is no.
I don't understand it at all how he's ok with this.
He ended up going to a family thing that weekend in another state and she ends up hanging out with me for 3 days having sex. I asked if he knew. She says no.
Dating is crazy these days
