Do the bottoms look very worn out?
Sorry if I’m breaking any guidelines. New to this community. If I am, I’ll take the post down but how worn out does the bottom of these shoes look? Thinking about purchasing but wanted some feedback

Hey all,
I've been struggling to determine what size shoes to get during this year's sale. I bought a pair of Randolph 2.0's in 11.5D, and ran into the notorious tearing issue on the penny strap and had to return them.
I re-measured myself on a Brannock Device yesterday. Attached are those measurements. All guidance I got before re-measurement was to stick with 11.5 since my old Boulevards from 12-14 years ago are in that size, but I'm convinced 11.5 is now too small.
In trying the Randolph 2.0's, I felt MTP-1 joint pain, and today I see light bruising on my big toe on my right foot around that joint.
What size do you think is right? I want to go for 12.0D's and buy a few pairs before the sale is over. I'm thinking Park Aves, 5th Aves, some Derby's, and maybe a loafer (not Randolph 2.0, though.)
Last pair in the run, so I had to bring my best selvedge game! Twill side panel slays!
Bonus: they are literally the most comfortable pair of shoes I have ever owned, on par with my LL Bean sheepskin slippers. I don't know how they managed that!
Just picked up the chocolate suede APEX driver. Dig the color. Also got the new Clayton belt in chocolate suede. Super light shoe. I like this better than the Supersport.
The idea behind buying quality usually makes sense. Spend more once, replace less often, save money over time. With kids dress shoes though it gets complicated pretty fast because they outgrow sizes before most shoes even show real wear.
What I keep going back and forth on is the hand me down angle. If a well made pair survives one kid and still looks decent enough to pass down to the next one, the math might actually work out. But that only holds if the quality is genuinely there and not just good marketing.
Been looking at leather options with proper stitched soles versus the glued stuff that tends to fall apart after a few wears. The construction difference is obvious once you know what to look for, but whether it actually translates to longevity for a shoe that only comes out a handful of times a year is something I genuinely don't know.
Has anyone here actually bought quality kids dress shoes, passed them down, and found it worth it compared to just buying cheap and replacing? Curious if the bifl logic holds in this category or if growth rate makes quality pointless no matter what.
Is there a best practice for protecting shoes while in a checked bag?
I've been using the box they came in, but it's getting pretty beat up.
Appreciate any recommendations.
Chilli Derby’s, the third pic is the other shoe which looks normal. What’s the deal?
I managed to scratch ’em up pretty well on a slab of cement today.
Any advice on how to proceed with treatment? I have the AE Shoe Care Kit in Walnut.
Appreciate guidance, if possible.

I purchased quite a few pairs of Allen Edmonds for a new job last year, but... turns out the company decided to say the hell with going into the office, so we're remote now.
Hendrix Wingtip Oxford in Black (11D), Siena Medallion Oxford in Chili Brown (11D), Eli Penny Loafers in Chili Brown (11.5D), Park Aves in Navy Blue (11.5D), Denali Penny Loafers in Chili Brown (11.5D), Payton Suede Penny Loafer in a light Ice Gray color (11D).
Tried listing on eBay a few months ago but never had luck, so they're just sitting.
doesn’t indicate whether firsts or seconds, but crazy price regardless
I recently ordered from the Shoe Bank for the first time. The boots I ordered were not listed as factory seconds. My receipt does not say factory seconds. However my order history for them has a note saying there is a $25 restock fee for factory seconds. Do all orders from the bank say that by default or is AE messing with me? Also, do seconds come with any sort of note or marking designating them as such so I can tell when they arrive?
Took a whack at putting a mirror shine on the toe-caps of my new Fifth Avenues in Mahogany. I like the way it turned out!
Product used was Saphir Mirror Gloss. 13 coats, the last two put on after a 24-hour dry time. T-shirt and a drop of water. The suede brush in pic #1 was not a part of this process, it just happened to be on the counter.
Pic 1 is after, pics 2 and 3 are intermediate steps, pic 4 is a before shot, and pic 5 shows the pores of the leather.
Anyone else rocking a mirror shine on their toe caps? I feel very old-school walking around in these.
I just bought these loafers and am curious about when they were made. Thank you in advance!
I have a pair of Walnut Brown McAllisters that I love. I wear them a ton and it's time for new ones. However, they are all sold out. I looked at the Strand as well in Walnut Brown and also sold out. And by sold out, I mean in every size.
So, I'm curious with what is going on with Walnut Brown being sold out? Is this a temporary issue, or is that color being phased out by Allen Edmonds.
I would hate that since they are a staple in my wardrobe.
I bought these park ave a few days ago and finally got my suit in to try them on. I put them on and walked indoors for less than 2 minutes to my mirror and already saw heel pad wear like this. The color ended up not working with this specific suit and I was 50/50 on keeping vs returning.
- Will I still be able to return it? Or exchange it for a new color?
- Or is this normal wear and tear for such a short time?
Any tips much appreciated
