First pair of AE's! Lucked out with this Goodwill find.
Do the soles look to have lots of life left? I'm over the moon for $20.

Has anyone bought these or other similar hairs? I’m worried that I’d have troubles keeping them maintained/clean with hair. Do you use like suede brushes? Are they recraftable?
Also, any ideas on what these can be worn with?
Just got em today for my wedding in October! Initially impressions are good! I went a half size down to my sneaker size and they fit pretty snug but not uncomfortable! Hopefully they’ll be a nice dress shoe companion for a long time to come.
I know this is small, but I have over 12 pairs of AEs, some firsts some seconds and I've never seen this before. It is an actual cut in the leather. I called the shoebank, they still have my size in stock. It sounds like they are giving me the runaround for the evaluation process. I may drop it off at the local store near me.
I’m fairly new to Allen Edmonds shoes. I bought my first pair a few years ago, the St. John double monk straps. Later I picked up a pair of Dain plain-toe derby boots at Nordstrom Rack. Both are 11.5 D and have fit me well enough.
More recently, I’ve become interested in restoring older AEs and have bought a few pairs on eBay. Last week, though, I bought my first pair in an actual Allen Edmonds store: Randolph 2.0 loafers.
I was surprised when the salesman did not fit me in my usual 11.5 D. Instead, he put me in 10.5 3E. I have bunions, and he said the wider size would put the ball of my foot in the right place and give me room where I need it. I was shocked by how well they fit.
He said this would probably be my size in most Allen Edmonds, with a few exceptions.
I can see how this makes sense for loafers, but I’m wondering how much this translates to other AE models, especially oxfords, derbies, bluchers, boots, etc. My 11.5 D pairs fit okay, but I do have room in the toes.
For those of you with more AE experience, especially across different lasts, would you treat 10.5 3E as my likely AE size going forward, or would you still evaluate each model/last separately? I’d be grateful for any thoughts.
“Got these Maddox Reserve boots second hand(barely used) for a great price — they retail at $1100 and look fantastic. I like them very much. The issue is they run big. I’m a size 11 in the Dalton, but these are 11.5, and the difference is huge. They’re also E width while I’m a D. I took the chance thinking it wouldn’t matter much, but they’re too long and little wide. I really want to keep them since I’d never afford them at full price, but I’m not sure what to do. Would you wear a boot that’s too big?“
They just feel a little long and look big. I’m slender. Is there a way to not feel them long in my feet?
I tried them with some thick insoles from my trainers. They feel snug! I look taller and they don’t seem so big too. Thank you everyone for your ideas!!

I went for some Park Avenues via Factory Seconds. I've had great luck in the past so felt confident with more Seconds. This time I think I wasn't so lucky.
Mainly I see a bunch of dark spots that coincide with little indentations. Many small ones on the outside of the right shoe and one larger one on the inside of the left shoe. There's also some unevenness near the laces on the right shoe. These issues are just about visible from 6+ feet away in good lighting.
My main question: To what extent could regular care like conditioning and polishing help minimize these issues? (I've read the stickied post. I don't have the experience to guess what caused these issues and whether they're ~fixable.) Thanks from a first-time poster!

Had a trip to Europe planned but wanted to try and pack as light as possible due to traveling to multiple places I was staying at. I needed a pair of boots I could walk around all day in and look nice enough to go to dinner in. I read some reviews and after looking around I took a gamble on the Higgins mill weather proof.
Before I left, I cleaned them with avel leather soap, slapped on some renovateur, and finished with black polish.
I was there for a total of about 19 days with an average of 20k steps a day in these. On the last day I did wear some loafers due to my pinky toe being a little sore.
Overall, super comfy and the soles of my feet were never sore. Walked a lot of incline and decline throughout the trip and even a little off road.
The pictures are after the return with just a quick dusting off before being thrown in the luggage. Side note, I also didn’t have a shoe tree in them the whole trip.
I won these on ebay. The code is 5845, dark brown, what is the best saphir polish color for these?
I don't see the dark brown code on the AE website anymore, so I am assuming these are not longer made and I would like to keep the leather in good condition without radically changing the color. I do like a shiny look, but not extreme like mirror gloss.
Thank you and any recommendation welcome.
Ignore the weird stance 🤣
Mahogany (darker) or
Chili (lighter)

Will a polish shine them up and help take out scuffs or are they too beat? How are the soles?
I'm trying to make a decision between purchasing the stanton bit loafer (factory 2nd) or the como woven loafer. I currently don't have a black shoe in my rotation and I need something for mainly casual wear with chinos, jeans etc., but would like for them to work with dress pants or a business casual suit when needed. neither shoe seem to have been mentioned in the sub. Does anyone have any experience with either shoe or have recommendations?
Looking for recommendations on color and brand of polish, people are using. Got a pair of Park Avenue cap toes in Mahogany, and looking to see what other people are using to match the color. Shoes definitely have a bit of a red tint in them, so not straight brown, but not so much red to be like a chill or burgundy color.
I found some Allen Edmonds at a local thrift store, and these two boots stood out to me. Are these worth purchasing and having them resoled? Am I able to add life back into them with some conditioner, polish, and heel dressing?
Boots in question:
EDIT: Fixed image link for Boot #2
This pair was brought in by a customer to be resoled with JR leather and Vibram heels. He saw another pair I did with the brown edging and loved it, so we did the same for him. We used custom made the heel bases with the same leather for consistency and added some patina to the toes.
I have had quite a few shoes recrafted over the years and never had issue. I am fully willing to accept if I am being too picky but I feel like they should have done more to cover up the damage. Same type of damage on each side. I emailed the recrafting email address but last time I sent an email asking if a specific shoe could be recrafted it went unanswered so I am not convinced this one will be answered either
For the life of me, I can't narrow down these AEs. I believe the date code is 7682 but I thought the first two numbers should be between 1-52? I've searched a few catalogs but can't find these numbers. Any help is appreciated!
I just bought a used pair of Higgins mill boots for extremely cheap and they have a vibram lug outsole. Were these resoled or did A.E. ever sell these from the factory this way? I didn’t even mean to seriously bid on them, it was an early bid and I went extremely low thinking that they’d obviously sell for more.
Based on the couple pics I’ve included what can you all tell me about them? Any idea what leather or how to tell how old they are?
