Is there any women in this sub?
I mean someone who has done bsc in biotech and further doing MSc in bioinformatics and learned python and ml skills side wise? Also looking to pursue job abroad? I need to talk to you have doubts

"I recently completed my Class 12 with a PCB (Physics, Chemistry, Biology) background. My long-term goal is to build a career in bioinformatics. However, for my undergraduate degree, I want to major in biotechnology because I believe the hands-on wet-lab experience will be highly valuable for my future in bioinformatics. My main dilemma is whether I should pursue a B.Tech or a B.Sc. I am currently considering two pathways: **Option 1:** Pursuing a B.Tech in Biotechnology at SASTRA University (Tamil Nadu). I would self-learn bioinformatics on the side and later pursue a Master’s degree in Bioinformatics. **Option 2:** Pursuing a B.Sc. in Biotechnology at a Central University. Similar to the first option, I would self-learn bioinformatics simultaneously and then pursue an M.Sc. in Bioinformatics. Which of these two options is the better pathway for my career goals?"
Hi everyone! I am a doctoral candidate doing my Psy.D. I’m currently conducting a research study exploring marital experiences, cultural beliefs, and women’s well-being, and I would really appreciate your support. I would be very grateful if you took the time to share this as well.
Why this study is important:
Marital sexual trauma is a complex and often under-discussed issue, especially across different cultural contexts. Many women’s experiences remain unheard due to stigma, cultural expectations, and a lack of open conversation. This study aims to better understand how cultural values, gender roles, and beliefs about consent shape these experiences and their impact on mental health (such as anxiety, depression, and trauma).

I have bachelors in computer science, and i was interested to do masters in bioinformatics and later phd in US . How would you advice me to go to masters or directly take time and do phd. and i also need to build my foundation in bioinformatics.advice any books or playlists that can help me.
I’m deciding between Shoolini University, IILM University, and Sam Higginbottom University of Agriculture, Technology and Sciences for M.Tech Bioinformatics and would really appreciate honest opinions from students/alumni/researchers.
My background:
B.Tech Bioinformatics graduate
Interested in computational biology, genomics, AI/ML in bioinformatics, and research
Have worked on projects related to AMR prediction, k-mer based ML models, methylation analysis, etc.
Might pursue research/PhD later, but also want decent industry exposure
What I’ve observed so far:
Shoolini
Seems to have stronger biotech/research environment
Good focus on publications and research culture
But I’m unsure about placements/ROI
IILM Noida
Syllabus looks more modern (ML, NGS analytics, Biopython, computational biology, AI integration)
NCR location may help with networking/internships
But I don’t know how strong the actual bioinformatics ecosystem/faculty is
SHUATS
Affordable
Traditional bioinformatics syllabus with phylogenetics, sequence analysis, algorithms, etc.
But curriculum seems older and less AI/ML focused
My priorities are:
Research opportunities
Faculty/lab quality
Bioinformatics-specific exposure
Computational biology + AI/ML scope
Internships/placements
Overall ROI
Would love honest feedback on:
actual teaching quality
research culture
placements/internships
peer group
hidden pros/cons
whether higher fees are worth it or not
Especially looking for responses from current students, alumni, or people working in biotech/bioinformatics.
Hey so same as title I did like a few exams here and there after my bsc ( biology ) so was just thinking is bioinformatics a good field for specialisation?
22 F, I am currently in my 4th year of btech in Biotechnology and am thinking of going forward with Bioinformatics. I am currently doing python and juggling through AI ML basics, but I don't know where to go further or what to do ahead after this. Any seniors kindly guide , what resources did you use for AIML what type of projects did u do, please 😭🙏
I've been thinking about this branch in btech and I wanna know the experience of seniors who chose it.. and ik we gotta do masters for to actually get a good job.. so can any senior help me with like what would the life of a student be if he/she choose biotechnology and road map if you can and what do we actually do in this... Please help and I've doubt is biotechnology and bioinformatics are same? Like clgs around me don't have bioinformatics like if i choose biotechnology and can still do bioinformatics bor idk what I'm saying I hope you understood what I'm tryna say
To whomsoever I talk to they say men have more scope than female in tech field. Like I want to be biomedical data scientist. But according to relatives it is male dominated and they prefer males over females.
Hi everyone, I have applied for both IBAB and GAT-B/BET. The IBAB mock test and the GAT-B/BET exam are on the same day, so I’m confused about what to prioritize.
I’m currently preparing for both and want to know:
Which one should I prioritize if I can’t do both properly?
Is missing the IBAB mock test a big disadvantage?
How should I manage preparation in the remaining time?
If anyone has faced a similar clash, what did you do?
Any practical advice would help a lot.
Hi everyone,
I’m planning to pursue bioinformatics/computational biology in the future and possibly an MS abroad later on. Right now I’m deciding between these combinations:
Bioinformatics + Statistics
Bioinformatics + Data Science
Biotechnology + Data Science
Biotechnology + Statistics
I wanted advice on which combination would be best for:
future scope
salary potential
AI relevance
MS abroad opportunities
long-term career growth

Hey everyone!
I just finished my 1st year of BTech in Bioinformatics. Before 2nd year starts, we have a compulsory internship requirement along with a compulsory project submission.
Since I'm doing it online (Coursera, Udemy, or similar platforms), I wanted to ask the community – what courses would you recommend that are actually useful for a bioinformatics student long-term?
I'm open to anything – Python, ML, genomics, structural bioinformatics, databases – as long as it ties back to bioinformatics in some way. Ideally something that also gives me a certificate I can use for the internship submission.
A few things I'd love help with:
\- Which platforms are best for bioinformatics-related courses?
\- Any specific courses or specializations you'd strongly recommend?
\- What skills are actually in demand if I want to go into research or industry later?
\- Any project ideas that would work well as a submission? Preferably something doable in a short timeframe but still impressive enough to submit.
Thanks in advance! Any advice from people already in the field would mean a lot 🙏
I have completed BE Biotechnology and qualified Gate this year and I have chances of getting Mtech Bioinformatics in MANIT Bhopal.
I had applied for Manipal for MSc bioinformatics and got the admission offer.
I am confused about which one to go with..
My main goals are:
-Strong placement/job opportunities
-Ai/Ml. + Bioinformatics exposure
-Industry -oriented curriculum
-Computational biology/genomics focus
- Good coding environment (Python, Linux, Data Science)
- Better opportunities for international careers in the future.
I am mainly looking for PRIVATE colleges/institutes because I missed some application deadlines for institutes like IBAB.
Can anyone suggest the best/top-tier private colleges for M.Sc. Bioinformatics in India?
I would really appreciate honest reviews about:
- Placements
- Average salary/packages
- Industry exposure
- Internship opportunities
- Research vs industry balance
- AI/ML integration
- Alumni outcomes
- Whether the course is worth it in 2026
I am especially interested in colleges like:
- JIIT Noida
- SRM
- Manipal
- Amity
- Any other good private institutes
Please share real experiences if possible, especially from current students or alumni.
Thank you!
Hey guys
