Please tell me there is a fix for greasy hair.

F, 1a/1b hair type here.

I've had greasy hair on day 3 of hairwash for as long as I can remember and now it's coming to day 2. Help!! I use dry shampoo but that doesn't seem to help. And anyways I don't want to rely on it.

I've heard a lot about soap bars that cause scalp to dry and the ryo deep cleaning and cleansing shampoo. Do you guys have any recs?? Please tell me there's a solution to this.

Edit: guys I think reddit had recommended a sub for this and I just reposted it😭 thanks a lot for your suggestions though. Great help

Has anyone else tried "hair reverse washing "as a daily thing?

I’ve always been a shampoo-first person, but I tried the reverse method this morning just to see what would happen. Honestly, my hair feels way less stripped, but I’m worried it’s going to look greasy by tonight. Has anyone actually made this their permanent daily routine, or does it eventually weigh your hair down?

Using Face Cleanser as Shampoo?

Hey everyone, so I have generally have dry skin and I think I have a dry scalp too as my hair is dry, the thing is in the country I am in (India) I can find easily fragrance free gentle face cleansers and body washes and moisturizers, but when it comes to shampooing I can barely find any, and my scalp feels dry same with my hair, so I thought of using my hydrating face cleanser on my scalp, anyone tried this before ? Thanks

How can I moisturise my scalp without it getting greasy?

Hii I have very dry skin (eczema) and after showering I have very dry skin on my scalp.
My hair wash routine is I wash my roots two times with head and shoulders shampoo which is the only one that doesn’t burn my skin. Also I do need to use shampoo two times otherwise my hair doesn’t get clean. Then I condition my hair with garniers (idk if that’s the right spelling) honey repair conditioner on my mids and ends, I let that sit while I wash the rest of my body which takes about 5 minutes. Then I wash my hair out and continue w cleaning myself off which doesn’t take long after getting the conditioner out.

When I get out of the shower I let my hair down and put hair oil on my ends and then over the past few months I’ve stopped using a hairdryer because it dries my hair out too much (even with heat protection) so I just let it air dry.

My scalp is still dry and even after washing my hair when I’m air drying it I can still see dead skin coming off like dandruff.

My hair gets greasy if anything too like heavy is put on my scalp but my skin is so dry I was wondering if there was some sort of moisturiser or anything to help with my dry scalp after washing

Need a Non comedogenic Hair conditioner please

I have long curly hair and it is pretty manageable with just shampoo, but sometimes it needs conditioner, every time I use a conditioner there would be small bumps and pimples on my forehead. For shampoo my doc recommended scurfol since I have got dandruff recently she said it also might be one of the causes for the bumps but also said some heavy products can also be the reason. I use conditioner on and off and noticed that these pores seem to happen when I use it. I have been using love beauty planet argan oil and lavender conditioner I want to change it. I have started with minimalist salicylic acid face wash which does a pretty good job.

Do you all know any non-comedogenic water based non heavy affordable conditioner available in India

How often should I wash my hair??

I've looked for this answer for ages. I'm 13, live in Scotland, workout 3 sometimes 4 times a day, i have short and straight fine ish hair, and i like to style it 5 times a week (excluding holidays, then its mixed). I use poseidon hair products, i dont know if I should change how often I use them or how often I wash or anything. I recently saw some white things coming from my hair today which might be dandruff but I dont know.. im just lost

seborrheic dermatitis? pcos? both? help with greasy hair pls

Hi, 20F, diagnosed with pcos (suspected endometriosis but im unsure if thats relevant). Relatively dense hair despite hair loss, wavy and idk porosity but my hair stays wet for relatively long after i shower.

My whole life i've had super greasy hair (somewhere around 12 hours after i shower it doesn't feel the same, by hour 24 i can smell the classic grease smell from my own scalp).

Both my bio parents struggled with this post puberty their whole lives (father shaved his head, mommy just washes hers every day)

I have tried the following:

\- different shampoos (dermatologist recommended from the pharmacy, clarifying, etc.)
\- training it (no washing for a few days, brushing with boar bristles to distribute oils)
\- oral contraceptives (three kinds, one multi phasic that helped my other symptoms but never this)
\- seeing a dermatologist (doc said its probably seborrheic dermatitis and theres nothing i can do besides 'wash it daily or be a little greasy' gee thanks)
\- double shampoo, blow drying on cool immediately after, air drying, no shampoo just water, basically all the hacks

Info: my face also produces excess sebum (to the point where if i press with mild force on my t zone anywhere this clear yellowish liquid will come out)
like i am not exaggerating if you press a tissue on my face it will be WET as if you dipped your finger in water
again my docs said birth control or products to manage it, both of which ive tried but to little to no avail

i change my pillow case almost daily, if i dont change it i flip it over
i change my towels often, wash them on high heat and dry them properly, if i smell mildew they're gone

i am sure i shampoo correctly as i've literally done a hairdressing course

please please anyone who can think of anything i haven't tried is welcome to comment, i feel like i'm going crazy!!!
i work in retail and in the depo we have this ac vent that blows straight down and every time i walk under it i am accosted by a waft of grease and typical 'unwashed hair' must DESPITE the fact that i washed my hair at 8-11 pm the night before and it is now 10 am

like i mentioned my face has the same disgusting smell issue and enlarged pores that squirt yellowish puss literally daily but thats a problem for another subreddit, i only mentioned it because i refuse to believe these things are unrelated

thanks

edit: the seb derm accusation in my title is because my dermatologist suggested thats what it MIGHT be since i also have flaking on my nose, cheeks, and scalp (tf you mean might girl if you don't know who does)

Need new shampoo/conditioner recs after my fav brand was discontinued

My hair is pretty short, with lots of layers, and somewhere in the type 3a 3b range. I have been using the Love, Beauty, and Planet volumizing shampoo and conditioner for a couple years now, and, too my dismay, I found out the whole brands been discontinued. I'm looking for new shampoo/conditioner recs that are cheap, easy to find in store, and are volume-prioritizing. The rest of my routine is very simple, I shower every day or every other with the aforementioned shampoo/conditioner, and then just prayer-hands a leave-in from curlsmith, scrunch some cheap dollar store mousse, and let it air dry. I dont wear a bonnet, or wrap my hair in any way, although ive been considering it. I dont move much in my sleep so I dont have any kind of sleep protection other than a satin pillowcase. My refresh routine is mostly just a spritz of water, or sometimes hairspray, but again, just trying to keep it pretty simple, since I don't have the patience or mental fortitude to do much more.

Not looking for much insight on the rest of my routine, but anyone else whos has had to switch shampoo/conditioner brands, any insight or recs would be appreciated!!

Does anyone here use a ketoconazole shampoo?

My dermatologist recommended that I use a ketoconazole shampoo once a week because I was dealing with significant hair loss.
I’ve been using Nizoral, and while it seems to work, it does leave my scalp and hair a bit dry.
I’m curious—what ketoconazole shampoo do you use? Would you recommend it?

Changing up my routine- pls give me advice

I'm a religious daily washer and typically a religious morning washer. However, I always see girls with curled hair in the morning and ive been wondering how I could do that with my hair. Ive been toying with the idea of washing at night, but historically I haven't liked doing that bc I don't feel all the way clean if I shower and dont also wash my hair.

For the girls that do have curled/styled hair almost every day- how do you do it? Do you wash and dry and night and style in the morning?

I stopped trying to train my scalp and went back to washing every morning

I know the internet loves telling people to wash less, but my scalp did not get the memo. after a month of trying to stretch wash days, i was just itchy, greasy, and annoyed, so i went back to my daily morning wash and honestly feel better

the annoying part is the drying. i cannot leave for work with damp roots, but my old dryer made the whole routine feel longer than the shower. i have been using a Laifen Air for about two weeks now, and the biggest difference for me is not some dramatic salon result. it is that i can get my roots dry fast enough that washing daily does not feel like a punishment. the lighter weight helps too, because i am not switching hands constantly

i still have to be careful with the highest speed around my ends because they can get a little flyaway, but overall it made daily washing feel more realistic. anyone else just accept that your scalp needs frequent washing and build the routine around that?

Spiro and AirWash have changed my life

I have thin, fine hair with an oily scalp and, I believe, mild seb derm. I used to double wash every shower and need to daily wash. I used to use Batiste to push 2 days, but then my scalp started to react poorly with painful breakouts and still look greasy anyways. I hated daily wash life and dreaded the long process of showering then blow drying every. single. day.

I started 50mg of Spironolactone for my hormonal acne and also bit the bullet and tried K18 AirWash after seeing a million reviews and it has been like an anti-depressant for me! Between the 2 things, I can always go 2 days between washes, often times 3, and 4 if I wanna just stick to the house! But when I push the days out, my scalp doesn't break out anymore.

I feel like the time and effort of showering and doing my hair has lifted such a huge burden from my shoulders. I don’t have to deal with the mental burden of planning when to shower around different events to look decent. I am so much happier now, and just want to encourage people who don't enjoy daily wash life to look into those options. I know some people do enjoy it though! I just was not of that group lol.

Is anyone else just tired of the actual process of drying their hair every single morning?

I love being a daily washer, I love the felling of having a clean scalp, and I'll never go back to waiting days between washes. But if I have to spend another 20 minutes blow-drying my roots in this heat just so I don't go to work with damp hair, I might lose it.

I feel like I'm stuck between I want clean hair and I hate the daily maintenance. Has anyone found any lazy hacks for drying their hair faster that doesn't involve heat damage? Or am I just doomed to this 20-minute morning struggle for the rest of my life?

Red irritated scalp.

hello! lately I have been suffering from a red scalp that is only focused towards the back of my part line. I do have some burning and itchy type feelings but I have never scratched it to make it worse. I went to a trichologist who showed build up and irritation, she seemed to clear out a lot of the build up my scalp is still pink towards the back. Any ideas how to soothe it and help it return to its normal white color? No hair loss or anything. This started after I was consistently using redken all soft for months which was WAY too heavy for my fine hair.
