what shampoo do i use for tender, VERY VERY dry scalp?

i have a very dry scalp and its been like that for 2 years now all of the sudden. my scalp barely produces oils anymore even though i started to eat much better and including more healthy fats into my diet.
everytime i comb my hair or run my hands through my scalp i just feel a burned scalp sensation even though i haven’t burned my scalp. it feels very tender and it hurts excessively when i slightly pull a strand of hair.

due to my dry scalp my hair changed texture for the worse. it became dark black (my natural hair color is light brown), very thick like wires, dry, lots of breakage, doesn’t hold a curl nor absorbs water that well. basically damaged hair and i suspect it’s because of my very dry scalp.

i don’t really have bad dandruff but it’s a bit flakey like normal i guess.

any recommendations for a shampoo for my problem?

How many of you actually double-shampoo every single day?

I hear everyone say double-washing is a game-changer for oily scalps, but doing it every day feels like I'm just burning through shampoo twice as fast.

Is a single wash enough for your daily routine, or do you always lather twice?

Greasy Scalp

Hello, I need help with drugstore shampoo and products and hacks for super greasy hair. I have to wash my hair everyday in the morning or else it looks like I have not washed it in days. Even if I wash it before going to bed and do all the right things such as blow drying my hair and apply dry shampoo before it actually starts looking greasy and apply stuff like glycolic acid before wash, my hair still starts looking greasy by afternoon of day 2. I’m a university going student and have super early classes which makes it hard for me to wash my hair and do all the things before going in. So, I’m looking for advice on how to at least make my hair look fresh for like 2-3 days.

Shampoo for hard water

Need help with shampoo that helps mitigate the effects of hard water. Didn't realize how bad my water is until staying with a friend. Washed my hair with my regular shampoo and it's so soft &shiny. She does not have a water softener nor filter. Any ideas?

Straighten my hair every single day?

I got off of accutane a while ago, and one of the unfortunate side effects that it has had was making my hair super greasy. I used to be able to wash my hair every other day, but now I have to wash, dry, and straighten my hair every single day and it’s driving me insane because it takes so long.

After I wash my hair, I put it in a turban for it to dry, and I use the drybar double shot blow-dryer to completely dry it. But, it looks super frizzy afterwards, so I have to straighten it. I don’t like frying my hair every day with a straightener. I feel like it’ll fall out. What am I supposed to do instead?

Tips for dyed hair?

I just got my hair dyed at the salon a very pretty brown with red undertones. I have to wash my hair every day & there have been summers where my hair is FOUL by noon the next day even though I washed it the night before. Luckily, my scalp seems happier & I do t get super greasy until it’s about my shower time anyway.

I want to start only washing every other day & use dry shampoo on days I don’t wash. I also bought the new Amika hair care line that protects my hair. If I am stuck having to still wash it every day, any other tips for preserving color even though it is permanent? Thanks. 😊

Greasy hair

So I've had greasy hair for years since I stopped shampooing every year. It's fine on the day then the day after it's greasy. I've tried stretching out of how often I wash but the same happens again.

I am doing all the right things I don't wash with hot water, I leave the shampoo in for a couple minutes, I wash it out well, I wash my hair every other day, I don't scratch, I eat well, I don't use any product, I use a head and shoulders derma x soothing anti dandruff shampoo.

I don't know what I can to do fix it. Any help would be really appreciated.

(I don't want to use dry shampoo)

Tips of dyed red hair

My hair is long and kind of fine, and I’m in the daily wash club with all of you. I’ve been dying my hair red in the salon for a few years and switched back to washing every other day to preserve the color. I’m sick of it!!!! My stylist does use permanent dye but red notoriously fades fast (and yet is hard to remove lol). Any tips for daily washing to prevent color fade?

Thinning hair

So I have always had fine, thin hair and recently dealing with some shedding. I’m getting more lab tests done to get my thyroid and other stuff checked but I was wondering if washing my hair daily while going through this is harming more or not? I’ve been using the dove intensive repair shampoo, conditioner and mask as well as daily scalp massages. Also incorporating a hair oil a few times a week.
I cry every time I wash my hair when I see the pieces that shed out so I’m honestly just feeling defeated on what would be the best for me if I should wash daily or not. Wanted to see if anyone had any advice or similar situations.
Thank you to everyone in this sub too bc I’ve been reading a lot of comment and posts and learning.

F21 Need suggestion for shampoo for Natural hair with light hairfall issue

Hi, I need suggestions for a good shampoo that won't dry my hair, won't cause any hairfall or any other issue... I am using pantene lively clean once a week/two weeks. I have tried lbp, dove, Tresemme, loreal, clinic plus etc most of the popular brands (even with conditioner). And all of them make my hair dry. I have wavy, medium thick hair (no idea about porosity etc etc) I am a broke college student. So preferably it would be helpful if suggestions are budget friendly. I was using B&T arnica shampoo for a long time, and it didn't dry my hair. But it did cause light hairfall (though I am sure it can be due to stress, water quality etc). Also I have quite short hair so it's mostly easy to maintain (idk if it's a relevant information, I am pretty new to haircare etc stuff)

Replacement shampoo suggestions

Hi!

Looking for a replacement for Love Beauty Planet Murumuru butter & rose shampoo & conditioner?

I know there's some people selling it on Amazon but considering it's discontinued I don't trust the supply to still be good.

Used it for the scent and because it was fairly gentle on my brightly dyed hair.

Anything rose scented gets bonus points lol

Located in the US, willing to buy completely online.

Greasy Hair Help

Hey everyone, I’m a teen girl and I’m lowkey lost at this point because I feel like I’ve tried literally everything.
My hair has always been super thick and holds on to moisture. Starting around age 10 or 11, my hair got VERY greasy, to the point where people would ask if it was wet, even though I thoroughly washed it every day.
By 9th grade, it got worse. Residue from my shampoo started showing up on my brush, and my hair was literally STRINGY despite daily washes. People kept asking me how often I washed it.
Going into 10th grade, I tried "training" my hair by washing every 3 days for 3 months, thinking it was overproducing oil. That failed miserably. It looked terrible every single day after day 1.
**Here is everything I’ve tried so far:**
**Clarifying shampoo once a week** – didn’t work
**Daily clarifying/oily hair shampoo** – didn’t work
**Dry shampoo** – doesn’t help
**Hard water shower filter** – didn’t help
**Apple cider vinegar rinse** – didn’t help
**Double shampooing** – hair still feels dirty right after
**Scalp massager** – made it look worse
**Cleaning my brushes daily** – hair still looks bad, brush gets gross instantly
**Washing my hair for 30+ minutes** – still feels dirty
**Sectioning hair in 4+ layers to wash** – looks the same
Every single time I go to a salon, the stylists tell me how much residue is in my hair. The ONLY time my hair ever felt clean was after getting it dyed at a salon. the stylist did two clarifying washes plus a regular wash/conditioner and said I wouldn't need to wash for 4 days (it lasted 2, which was still a record for me!). *Note: Before dying my hair 4–5 times in 9th grade, it was already super stringy, and I haven't used dye or heat since.*
**My current routine:**
Daily cleansing shampoo for oily hair
Daily conditioner (kept strictly to the ends)
Once a week: clarifying shampoo (double wash)
*No leave-in products, no heat, and I never go to sleep with wet hair.*
No matter what I do, my hair feels heavy, sticky, and unclean. It’s humiliating and I feel hopeless. Has anyone dealt with this kind of stubborn wax/residue buildup? Any tips or advice on what to do next would mean so much!

My hair always gets dry and brittle in water

No matter what oils, leave ins, or pre-poo sit in's I use my hair is dry and tangly as soon as it hits water. I even changed my shower filter to soft water.. haircuts do not work either

I've used tons of products like expensive split end or leave in conditioners but the only thing I find helps is this Paul Mitchell hair GEL. But I don't want to put hair get in my hair all the time..

Do I need a detangler maybe? Or any recommendations? Every shampoo and conditioner doesn't really work either and I have a cosmetology license where I can get the stuff from salon stores..

I attached a picture of my hair blown out. Even if I don't blow out same thing!!!

Btw my hair is all virgin right now and has been for years. So no dye at all!!

Greasy!

What are your best tips for greasy and oily hair and face due to being mostly bed bound and unable to shower as much as you’d like.

Things I already do:
Dry shampoo (though I don’t have a brand I’m in love with)
Satin pillowcases
Oil blotting face sheets
Shampoo caps (didn’t help, hated them)
Clarifying shampoo when I do shower

I’m tired of feeling like a greaseballlll

Best way to cover grays for those who wash daily

I have jet black hair, it is naturally wavy and so shiny but unfortunately due to genetics, I have greyed prematurely. Most of the silver streaks were hidden until after I had my second child, now they are everywhere and very noticeable.

I know, embrace the changes blah blah. I do not do anything else to hide the ageing process, haven't touched any inejctions, I am embracing the new lines on my forehead. It's just the grey hair are very noticeable against the black hair.

What brand of hair dye can I use to cover them even if I wash daily? I have coloured my hair when I was young and I remember my hair getting too dry after hair dye.

I'm from Australia so maybe limited with options.

Oily Scalp After One Day

Hello all! Just wanted to broaden my knowledge on haircare and see what I can do. I, (20 f), have been dealing with my fine straight oily scalp for years now and haven't found any shampoo that can keep my hair fresh for more than a day. I have used light shampoos like Dove, Soapbox, Whole Blends in the past. I have either washed it at night and woke up with stiff hair or just have to suffer showering every morning and washing my roots twice. I will try to refrain from washing my scalp every 2-3 days to start a restart but would like some opinions on good shampoos and treatments.

Thank you :)
