On my first rewatch
Watched Deadwood when it first came out and loved it. I started season 1 yesterday and I forgot how good this show is. Dan has gotta be one of my all time favorite characters.

Dolly was so different from Trixie. Do you think that was the point? Al wanted someone who wouldn't remind him of her? Did he want to move on to someone he didn't think he'd grow an emotional attachment for, that he considered slow next to quick Trixie (a slower girl might not be as quick to leave him, either)? Or is it as simple as him finding her the hottest of the girls in his employ? Odd, then, that he'd first turn to Trixie, who was the opposite of Dolly's type physically; it really was probably Trixie's grit and intelligence that attracted Al even from the start.
Wish there was some way to put it to video. sigh
Every time I watch the scene where Al chooses Silas to be his delegate to Hearst, I am reminded of The Godfather.
Early in The Godfather, the Don decides to send his most loyal, feared henchman (Luca Brasi) to approach the Tattaglia family under the guise of being open to hire and not being happy with how the Corleone family is treating him. Problem is, Brasi was well known to be fiercely loyal to the Don, and it was unthinkable that he would turn on him. Solozzo and Tattaglia see right through this and eliminate Brasi, a huge loss for the Don. This has widely been regarded as a poorly calculated decision by the Don.
When Al needs to choose a delegate to Hearst, he explains to Adams that his second has to be perceived as capable of disloyalty, which Silas bristles at but goes along with. Al also explains to Dan later that despite his hurt feelings, that was exactly why he chose Silas for the role over him - no one would ever believe Dan as capable of turning on Al.
I often wonder if Milch thought actively about this parallel. Anyway, thanks for attending my Ted talk on Al performing better risk management than the Don in a similar scenario.
Wondering if anyone noticed this before. I'm doing my yearly screening of the show and have been paying more attention to the background.
Look to the right edge of the frame and you'll see his arm waving around first. Is this a production guy in jeans directing the background actors?
Ep1 Jane offers to canvas for whiskey and Bill says he doesn’t want any casualties on his conscience. It doesn’t seem like he’s joking. TF???
Hi I started watching season 2 of deadwood on dvd, and i'm wondering whats the name of the track that plays on the dvd menu? I'm on disc 1 of season 2.
I’ve watched every episode, the movie, every behind the scenes, every YouTube clip, every documentary… all multiple times. I’ve even downloaded a few historic maps. What can I watch now to give me that Deadwood fix??
That’s about it lol. Tell me I’m wrong!?
and You Remember that.

I ordered a couple shirts and stickers from this store. Also grabbed some "The wire" stuff while I was here. The place is called Redbubble and all the products are made by individual artists and they use the site as a collective to sell their stuff from all around the US and rest of the world. I had an issue with one of my shirts that came in and I sent in a photo of the problem and in about 2 days they replied back saying the artists could make another shirt so they sent me a voucher for the cost of it and then thats when I stumbled across the Deadwood side of the site. It's really worth checking out. So many products with "inside jokes" on them... Peace yall... oh I just want to say, I couldn't find anything with E.B. on it so yet again. E.B. WAS LEFT OUT.... Poor fella
