New i20 owners – How do I register CEAT Unconditional Warranty for OEM tyres?

Hi everyone,

I recently took delivery of a new Hyundai i20 Sportz MT, and it came with CEAT OEM tyres.

I came across CEAT's Unconditional Warranty and wanted to check if I need to register these tyres separately to avail the warranty.

For those who have bought a new Hyundai/i20 with CEAT tyres:

Did you register the tyres for the Unconditional Warranty?

Is the warranty automatically applicable to OEM tyres, or is separate registration required?

If registration is required, what details/documents did you submit?

Is there an official CEAT registration link/process?

Most importantly, has anyone actually used or claimed the CEAT Unconditional Warranty on OEM tyres? Would love to hear about your experience.

Thanks in advance!

i20 orvms scratched in parking pillars

On the next day of delivery, this happened while reversing from parking area, scratched the pillar.

What are my options? Just live with it?

i20 Questions

Hey Guys,

I am in market to buy a decent hatchback, it would be my first car considering the E20 and subsequent ethanol blending situation i thought of sticking wkth either Bifuel or petrol engine because I do not have access to charging infrastructure (living in delhi on rent)

currently considering i20 (10.30 Lacs) and altroz bifuel (10.64 Lacs)

I have not accounted for any dealership discounts currently, my questions are the following:

What is the fuel economy for IVT gearbox in delhi traffic?
On highway what is the usual Mileage one can get?

Is there any problem in respect to braking or safety features?

What is the most VFM variant for this car?

Is i20 performance really that bad? I have heard from a lot of people that the braking and general performance is bad in i20

Need advice regarding my brand new Hyundai i20 N Line accessories (mudflaps & door visors)

Hi everyone,
I recently took delivery of a new Hyundai i20 N Line. At the time of delivery, the dealership promised me complimentary mudflaps and door visors.
However, I only received the rear mudflaps. Since then, every time I ask about the front mudflaps, I get a different answer.
So far, I’ve been told:
“Sir, they’re on order. N Line accessories take time.”
“Hyundai has stopped making front mudflaps for the i20 N Line.”
The accessories manager even suggested that he could do some “jugaad” and install mudflaps from a lower i20 variant.
Honestly, that doesn’t sit right with me. I paid for the N Line, so I expect genuine accessories specifically designed for the N Line, not modified parts from another variant.
The same thing is happening with the door visors. Initially, I was told I’d receive the N Line door visors, but now the dealership says Hyundai no longer manufactures the ones with the “N Line” branding and only makes door visors with “i20” written on them.
I’m starting to feel like I’m being given excuses, but I’m not sure whether the dealership is actually telling the truth.
Could someone please help me with the following?

  1. Does Hyundai really no longer manufacture front mudflaps for the i20 N Line?
  2. Have the N Line-branded door visors actually been discontinued?
  3. Is there any official Hyundai Mobis accessories catalogue or link where I can verify the genuine accessories available for the i20 N Line?
  4. Is there a Hyundai contact number, accessories department, or customer care representative I can speak to directly?
Any guidance would be greatly appreciated. I have been told by the salesman who sold me my car that due to the red side bodykit of nline the front mudflap of i20nline is different and difficult to place order, i have attached the pics below (1st pic rear , 2nd pic front)
    Thanks!

i20 Sportz IVT 2026 — Very Poor Headlight Throw. What Are My Options?

Recently bought an i20 Sportz IVT and took it on the highway for the first time. I was honestly quite disappointed with the headlights. the throw is very poor, and at night I could barely see the road properly with people blinding me from opposite.

For those who may not know, the Sportz trim comes with a halogen headlight setup, and the current-gen i20 also doesn't seem to have a provision for fog lamps.

I got a feedback call from the showroom and mentioned this issue. They basically said, “That's how it comes.” When I asked about improving the setup, they suggested installing an HID kit, genuine Hyundai accessory costing around ₹10k.

I've also seen people online recommending OSRAM 50W 4200K LED bulbs.

My main concern is the reflector housing. Since it's designed for halogen bulbs, would installing an LED bulb cause scattering/glare or a poor beam pattern? I don't want to blind oncoming traffic or end up with a fancy looking but actually worse setup.

I'm looking for a simple and practical solution, not anything expensive.

For those who have an i20 Sportz or a similar halogen reflector setup:

What bulb/upgrade are you using?

Is the OSRAM 50W 4200K LED a good option?

Has anyone tried the Hyundai HID kit?

Would a better halogen bulb be a safer/better option than LED in this reflector housing?

Would really appreciate suggestions from people who have actually upgraded their i20 headlights.

Difference in claims for direct insurer policy vs dealer issued policy

A lot of people go with dealer insurance because of the “easy/hassle-free claims” thing. That’s what the salesmen say anyway, right?

But one thing people often miss is that the surveyor is appointed by the insurer, and they’re the ones who assess the damage and decide what gets approved.

So if you buy ICICI insurance directly from ICICI vs buying the same ICICI policy through a dealer, the claim experience shouldn’t suddenly be different just because you bought it from the dealer.

And yes, the ASC/dealer is still there to help with the claim process and handling regardless of where you bought the policy from.

So what should you actually look at when buying insurance with a new car?

Two things mainly:

1. The price the dealer is offering.

2. What exactly is included in the quote - which insurer, IDV, and which add-ons.

Don’t just compare the final premium. Ask for the actual quote and check what you’re paying for.

And to be safe, check the insurer’s own cashless garage list as well. That way you know whether the ASC/dealer you’ll be using is actually cashless with that particular insurer.

Dealer insurance isn't always bad. Just don’t assume it’s automatically better because the salesman says “claims are hassle-free.”

Here’s what happens if you don’t take zero dep

This is my own story.

It does feel different when someone from the industry ignores zero dep. I didn’t take zero dep because we had barely claimed anything, the car was getting older, it was/is mainly city driven and I thought it wasn’t really worth paying extra for it.

Then one day out of the blue the car got crashed into a divider.

The front right side was damaged, including suspension parts like the lower arm and ball joint, and the bumper had a crack.

Garage quote was around ₹19k.

We ended up paying around ₹7k out of pocket.

Not too bad.

But it got me thinking that if zero dep is only a few thousand more, it can be worth having when something goes wrong. But if you’re comfortable paying the depreciation out of pocket later (like me), then basic coverage can be perfectly fine too.

There’s no right or wrong here.

It entirely depends on the amount of risk you’re comfortable taking and whether you want to shift that risk to the insurer for ₹X more in premium.

Simple.

I20-Nline DCT Long drive impression

I drove my i20 N Line from Hyderabad to Vizag recently and honestly, I’m really impressed with the car.
For most of the trip, I kept the cruise around 80–100 km/h and it was giving around 20 kmpl, sometimes even crossing 21 kmpl.
For the last ~150 km, I started driving a bit more spiritedly — mostly 120+ km/h, higher revs, quick overtakes, etc. Even after that, I ended up with around 18.4 kmpl at the destination.
What impressed me even more is that I completed the entire Hyderabad–Vizag trip on a single full tank (37L), and when I reached home, I still had around 80 km range left.
And honestly, the performance is what I’m enjoying the most. The quick overtakes, the exhaust note, the way the car responds when you push it a little — I’m really loving it. The confidence I’m getting while driving this car is honestly outstanding.
The total journey time was around 11 hours 45 minutes, but the actual driving time was around 8 hours 45 minutes. Almost 3 hours was idle time because I had my baby with me, so we had to take multiple breaks.
This was on E20 fuel, and the car had just completed its first service.
Overall, I’m genuinely surprised by how well the i20 N Line performs while still giving such good mileage. 😄

Spigen magnetic phone holder for Hyundai i20 - where should I mount it?

I’ve been trying to find a good magnetic phone holder for my Hyundai i20 for quite some time, but haven’t had much luck finding one that works well.

I’ve previously bought a couple of holders that attach to the windshield using a suction/vacuum mount, but they don’t work well with my Samsung S24 Ultra. The available space is limited, and the top of the phone ends up touching the windshield, making it difficult to position the phone properly.

I recently found a Spigen magnetic phone holder (https://amzn.in/d/0arhckN5 ) that attaches directly to the dashboard instead of using a suction mount. I’m considering buying it, but I’d like to hear from anyone who has used it.

A few questions:

How strong and reliable is the dashboard adhesive over time?

Can the holder be removed cleanly later, or is the adhesive more like super glue/Feviquick and likely to damage the dashboard?

Does it leave any residue or marks after removal?

How well does it hold a heavier phone like the S24 Ultra, especially while driving over rough roads?

Most importantly, which of the highlighted locations(A/B/C) in the attached picture would be the best place to mount it on an i20?

I’d really appreciate it if anyone with an i20 and/or experience with this Spigen holder could share their experience before I stick it to the dashboard. Thanks!

Every car insurance add-on cover ranked — which ones are actually worth paying for in India and which ones you can skip

Add-ons are where most of the confusion happens. The insurer lists multiple options, the aggregator lets you click checkboxes, and you have no idea which ones actually matter.

Here's my honest ranking based on what I've seen across hundreds of policies and claims:

Must-have (get these):

  1. Zero Depreciation — Covers the full cost of replaced parts without depreciation deduction. Without this, a ₹1 lakh claim might only pay ₹60,000-70,000 because of depreciation on parts. Worth it for cars up to 5-10 years old.

  2. Engine Protection— Critical during monsoons. If water enters the engine (hydrostatic lock), standard insurance won't cover it. Engine repairs can easily be ₹1-3 lakhs. This add-on costs ₹500-1500 per year.

Note: whether you have this add-on or not, your engine will be covered if your car has gotten into accident nevertheless

  1. Consumables Cover — Nuts, bolts, engine oil, coolant, AC gas — these things get replaced during repairs but aren't covered by default. Small cost, saves ₹1,000-8,000 during a claim. But quite small add-on which makes it worth taking.

  2. Return to Invoice (RTI)— If your car is a total loss (stolen or completely wrecked), without RTI you get the IDV which depreciates every year. With RTI, you get the original invoice value. Worth it for newer cars (1-3 years).

Note: this add-on is subjective, some might see value in it while others won’t, worth keeping for vehicles that have loans and high risk or theft or total loss.

Optional (depends on your situation):

  1. Tyre Cover— If you drive a lot on highways or bad roads, could help

Note: usually covers four tyre replacements a year and again this is like engine cover, if your tyre is blown without accident then this cover helps otherwise tyres are covered under accidental damaged(damages that include vehicle body damages or scratches alongside tyre damage)

  1. Key Replacement — Modern car keys cost ₹10,000-30,000 to replace. If you're prone to losing things, consider it.

Note: small add-on but sometimes comes bundled so nice to have.

Usually skip or could be considered for packaged deals:

  1. Daily Allowance — Pays ₹500-1000/day while your car is being repaired. Sounds nice, rarely worth the premium.

Note: comes with limits on how many days are allowed and total compensation per day but definitely worth for the price charged for this.

  1. Geographical Extension — Only needed if you're driving to Nepal/Bhutan/Sri Lanka or any other country.

The first four together typically add large amount to your annual premium. For the coverage they provide during a real claim, that's nothing.

Getting i20 sportz iVT at 9.4 lakhs on road

Is this a good deal or is there further scope for discounts?

I asked the dealer to include only ex showroom, registration, insurance and RSA of some 3,000 rupees.

It came up to 10.4 lakhs and they offered me 9.4 lakhs.

Driving preference: Day time or night time?

Can you tell us if you would prefer day time car drive or night time car drive?

I own i20 and I love night time driving but recently realised it's a lot safer to drive during the day.

Is 7 Lakhs a good price for a used 2021 i20 sportz ivt?

same as title, i've found an assured i20 sportz ivt (20k odo) for 7 lakhs on spinny. It will be used mostly for city driving and daily commute (basically a second car). I did take a look at used baleno, nexon, swift and jazz but I think i20 is a better daily beater so I've narrowed it down to either a used i20 sportz or a new one. Thoughts?
