Between the casque headed iguana, helmeted iguana and the mountain horned dragon, which would you pick and why?
Finally got my boy a green house.
Some of you may remember my ridiculous set up. 😂 I was unemployed at the time with this surprise rescue. Well mama is back to work and we have a few upgrades. Firstly, the tarp I got for the bottom ripped immediately during set up so I'm picking up a new one after work today. I threw some paper towels down over scraps of the old plastic just to get us through last night (I didn't get done building until 2am).
This week when I get paid I'm picking up some plants to make it more of a jungle, a new heat emitter and a something for water. I was thinking of a portable shower tray used for camping.
This weekend I'm going hiking so I'm hoping to harvest some good sticks and I want some giant rocks.
Yes Jimmy still free roams, that long branch comes out of a window.
Who else loves an iggy leg?
I always tell him I'm gonna nibble his little legs 😸 They are just so cute a chubby!
Love everything about them
Love everything about them the attitude the color better than having a cat or a dog in my opinion
Y'all thinking female too?
We've had Oola for about 2 years now. The tiny pores and lack of bulges is concerning me. Let me know if I need to label nsfw 😁

I need reasons not to get a green iguana
The green iguana has been my dream reptile since I was very young. I am in my early 40s now. Room is not a problem. I already have a large enough cage and roaming space. We own our own home. I have some experience with reptiles (bearded dragons, leopard gecko, viper gecko, and a ball python). No young children in the home, or even visiting the home. I do have small dogs. I am trying to decide between a bearded dragon again (don't have one currently), or a baby iguana. I have done a lot of research over the years about them. I do like a pet that is more hands on and friendly. I don't mind some attitude. We are a pretty relaxed household though. I should just keep looking at pictures of an ig and just get a bearded dragon again, right?
what is this thingy on my boyfriends iguana
hi! my boyfriend and i just spotted this thing on his iguana. she’s about 9 or 10 years old (he isn’t sure and also i don’t know if that is important). there was a small shed on it and it doesn’t seem to be causing her any pain or issues. we’re gonna take her to the vet anyways but i just wanted to see since i’ve literally never heard of an iguana as a pet before him and now i’m very fond of her
My newest rescue
Hey everyone I just wanted to share my newest rescue age is unknown and so is her sex. I was told female but she’s still very hesitant of humans since the previous owners life got busy and they didn’t feed or check on her for days/weeks at a time. I’ve had her for a week now and she willingly comes out of her enclosure into the pen (as seen in the picture) and even took a treat of a hornworm from tongs from me. I’m so happy with her progress towards learning that I’m not going to hurt her. She went from running away when I put salads in to staying where she is and starting to eat before I even closed the door again.
If anyone has a similar experience with a Rhino Iguna rescue share in the comments! I’m not new to the animal rescue world and have done nearly every common reptile you can find in a pet store. I’ve wanted to get an iguna for a while and when I was asked if I could take her in I welcomed her with open arms. I’ve done boatloads of research and while she’s in her temporary 4x2 for now due to mobility, I have all the sullies to extend it to into a 8x6 and make it as close to her natural habitat as possible just waiting for her strength to get a little better

Calm in front of a camera at last! (One year later!)
Just admiring how much more relaxed he is nowadays when taking his picture.
Rhino Iguana vs Banana Pectinata Iguana
I’m researching iguanas and trying to narrow down my mist and can’t decide between a Rhino Iguana and a Banana Pectinata Iguana.
I’d really like to hear from people who have kept either species, or ideally both. I’m mainly wondering about:
Temperament and personality
Handleability / taming down
How interactive they are with their owner
Enclosure size and setup difficulty
Diet and daily care
Common issues with each species
Which one you would recommend as a long-term pet and why
Pros/cons
I’m not expecting a “cuddly” reptile, but I would like an iguana that can become calm around people, tolerate handling when needed, and be interesting to interact with.
Thanks in advance. Any first hand experience would be appreciated.
