Apparently I hid my ring TOO well

Had a few too many drinks the other night and apparently drunk me decided leaving my engagement ring on the dresser was “too risky” so I hid it somewhere safe. The problem is sober me has absolutely NO idea where that safe place is. I’ve been searching the house for three days and I’m trying not to fully panic because I’m hoping it’ll randomly turn up in the next few days. At this point I’m checking places that don’t even make sense lol. Sober me is also thanking me for having it insured it though. Just needed to vent this, insure your jewelry people!!!!!!

Please tell me I didn’t just make the worst mistake of my life

I borrowed my mom’s heirloom ring for an event this weekend and somehow lost it. I feel absolutely horrible because it’s been in our family for years and obviously the sentimental value is the worst part. She does have the ring insured under her jewelry policy but I’m worried because I’m the one who was wearing it when it disappeared. Does insurance still cover something if the person who lost it isn’t the policyholder? Please tell me I didn’t completely screw this up!

My ex still has my jewelry what happens with my insurance?

My ex still has jewelry that belongs to me and I’m starting to freak out about it. We broke up about 6 months ago and it wasn’t exactly on good terms. Some of my jewelry is still at his place and everything is insured under my policy. I know I need to figure out how to get it back but now I’m thinking about worst case scenarios. What if he damages something, gets rid of it or just refuses to give it back? Would jewelry insurance cover anything in a situation like that since I technically know who has it or would this be considered something completely different? I know this is kind of a weird situation but I genuinely have no idea how insurance would look at something like this and I’m stressing myself out thinking about it. Has anyone dealt with anything similar?

How should I handle this with the jeweler?

I’m so upset and not sure how to handle this. I recently took my engagement ring to a jeweler to have it resized and it came back damaged. It wasn’t like this when I dropped it off and I’m freaking out. I do have insurance on the ring but I really don’t want to make a claim on my own policy when I wasn’t the one who damaged it. Would the jeweler normally be responsible for this through their insurance or I supposed to contact my jewelry insurance and let them deal with the jeweler? Has anyone actually had this happen? I want to know what I should be asking for before I go back to them.

Turning my grandmother’s pieces into one ring

I inherited a few pieces from both of my grandmothers and I've been thinking about having a jeweler combine them into one ring instead of leaving everything sitting in separate boxes.

The problem is none of these pieces have receipts and some are really old. If I have a jeweler make one completely new ring using the pieces and stones from them, how would I insure it afterward?

Would an appraisal of the finished ring be enough or would I somehow need documentation for the original stones too? Would love to hear from anyone who's done something similar.

Do earrings come with a “till loss do us part” policy?

Never had jewelry insurance before so sorry if this is an obvious question. I have a pair of earrings that are worth a decent amount and I'm thinking about insuring them but something kind of random crossed my mind lol. Say I lose just one earring, how does that actually work with insurance?  Do they pay to replace the one, have someone remake it to match or consider the whole pair a loss? They're an older pair so I imagine finding an exact match wouldn't be that easy. I have a few other pieces I'm planning to insure too but I'm mostly worried about the earrings because they mean a lot to me. Would love to hear from anyone who's actually dealt with losing just one from a pair and how their insurer handled it.

My mom gave me her engagement ring but there's a problem

My now fiancée got my mom's blessing to use her engagement ring when proposing to me. She always said she wanted me to reuse the diamond and I absolutely adore the sentiment of it. Only problem is the setting is extremely worn and one prong is almost gone. We took it to the jeweler and apparently we caught it moments before disaster. He told us we were days away from losing the stone, so we sent it for a repair. We're trying to figure out the insurance side before I start wearing it regularly. For an inherited engagement ring like this should I get it appraised and insured before we repair it or wait until all the work is finished and insure it at the new appraised value? This is my first time insuring jewelry so I'm completely clueless lol.

My cat lost my engagement ring

Only thing I can do right now is vent on reddit. Can't even look at my cat!! And I know it's all my fault because I should've known better and not left my things lying around, but I've never seen her exploring my vanity before. I leave all my jewelry there and I've got a specific shell-like plate where I only leave my engagement ring. I took it off to go and make food and when I came back it wasn't there anymore and my cat was waiting for me at my bedroom door with that mischievous look on her face so I just knew!! It has to be laying around somewhere in my room but I've searched in every corner I honestly don't know where it is. I'm starting to thing she ate it or smth. I've got insurance on it which covers mysterious disappearance but I'm doubting this situation would count?? Help a girl out please!
