I had no idea 0 deductible jewelry insurance existed

I always assumed jewelry insurance deductibles were standard until I randomly found out some companies don’t even charge one. Meanwhile I’d been stuck with a deductible through my homeowners policy this whole time. Why would you pay extra when you can get 0 deductible coverage and not pay anything out of pocket? Feels like something more people should know about.

Can you reject a jewelry insurance replacement?

I’ve been looking into jewelry insurance lately and one thing I keep thinking about is the replacement process. Like worst case scenario, if something happened to my ring and the replacement didn’t feel anything like the original, what would happen then? Are you able to give input or reject a replacement you don’t love? Curious how flexible jewelry insurance companies usually are with this.

How do you explain engagement ring anxiety without explaining the trauma behind it?

I got engaged twice. The first ring insured but it disappeared during the breakup. Now I’m paranoid about losing the one I have now but my fiancé thinks insurance is unnecessary because I never take it off. I don’t want to bring up the past and explain that things can get lost in the weirdest ways and I also don’t know how to explain why having that peace of mind matters so much to me.

If you were buying your first necklace again, where would you shop and what kind would you get?

Thinking about getting my first real necklace, and I keep changing my mind.

At first, I wanted something simple, then I started looking at tennis necklaces, and now I'm completely stuck. There are so many online stores now that it's hard to tell what's actually good quality and what looks good in photos.

Who already bought one, do you still like what you picked, or would you go with something different now, and would you buy online again or go to a local jeweler instead?

Insuring a inherited vintage watch

Recently inherited my dad’s vintage watch and I’m trying to figure out the smartest way to insure it. I’ve never had anything like this before, so I don’t really know how this works. It’s got a lot of sentimental value so I’d rather get it protected properly before I start wearing it regularly. How would the process be for inherited watches?

Italian vacation turned into isurance nightmare

Got pickpocketed in Rome a few days ago and lost a bracelet worth about $3,200. I thought filing the insurance claim would be straightforward but my insurer says they need an official police report in Italian before they’ll even process anything. The problem is the police station barely spoke English, I don’t speak Italian and now I’m being told I may need to stay here another 2 weeks just to sort out paperwork and translations. Has anyone else dealt with this abroad or is my insurance company making this way harder than it needs to be?

I just learned about “mysterious disappearance” coverage

This “mysterious disappearance” thing in jewelry insurance is kinda blowing my mind lol. Like if u lose a ring somewhere and have NO clue what happened to it insurance may still cover it?? Am i understanding this correctly? Need someone who’s actually filed one of these claims to explain how the process was.

Shared jewelry policy after separation?

Currently dealing with divorce stuff and realized I have no clue what happens with jewelry insurance. My wedding rings and his band are all on the same policy. Has anyone gone through this before? Not sure how this usually works, wanted to get some opinions before I call my insurer.

Lost my earring and necklace set this weekend, thank god it was insured

Lost one of my favorite earring + necklace sets this weekend and I genuinely thought I was going to throw up. It was one of those pieces I wore constantly and everywhere. I noticed the earring was missing first, then realized the necklace was gone too. Tore apart my apartment, checked the car, called two restaurants, nothing. The only reason I’m not completely spiraling is because I insured the set last year after my fiancé kept telling me I should. I always thought jewelry insurance sounded unnecessary until something actually disappeared.

Filed the claim and the process has been way easier than I expected. Huge relief knowing I’m not just eating the full loss out of pocket. If you have jewelry you’d be devastated to lose, especially sentimental pieces, consider insuring it before something happens. You never think you’ll need it until you do.
