Thank you Galen, may I have another?

Superstore has increased their flatbreads another dollar, overnight. August 15th packaging date on the right for $8.00, August 17th units put out at $9.00.

I hope dear leader Weston is ok he seems to be really struggling financially lately 😭😭😭

Superstore on Sargent no longer labelling where fruits and vegetables come from.

I'm angry about this. The US gov't is still waging economic warfare on us and I am still trying to boycott. Loblaws seems to have stopped putting country of origin on the signs for fruits and vegetables. I have a lot of reasons for disliking Loblaws, but this one is now the top of the list. Is this happening in other chain grocery stores, too?

This gave me the worst gas I've ever had

T1 Diabetic here. Tried the President's Diet Iced Tea because im a fan of the regular and had the absolute worst flatulence I've had in my life. Drank it for 3 days and had no clue what the culprit was. Stopped and everything went away. My son didn't believe me so he tried it for a couple of days only to be plagued by the same symptoms...constant sewage like, egg smelling, sulphur emitting, long, drawn out, gigantic farts. Unbelievable, never again! And as a T1 Diabetic this has never happened with other Diet drinks.

No Frills Edmonton

I hate this BS that we are saving money.

Edit: I realize two packages of 4 "saves" me money. It's the tricks that are used to confuse you and lead you to believe you are. The yellow (or red) ticketing and "in store feature" claim.

Bread class action email?

Anyone get this email about more bread class action? I went through the process until it asked for credit card or debit card information to apply the money (which they estimated approx 150-200).

Pharmacy consult at shoppers

Just checking if others have experienced an uptick in “pharmacist consults” every time they pick up a prescription? They say “I’ll just get the pharmacist to go over this with you” even if it’s a medication I’ve been on for years. It started a few months ago and it’s been too consistent to be by chance, and I wonder if they are billing for a consult for every single prescription. It wouldn’t surprise me.

I’m limited to one location of experience. Anyone else?

Online order - they opened the packaging of my product to fit it in the box.

I ordered a big container of protein powder but had to get to $60 for the 3x points offer, so added a 4 pack of pre-made protein shakes.

Got my package today. They took the shakes out of their packaging and put them in a ziplock bag AND three of the bottles have their safety rings broken as if they’ve been opened. (Photo above shows a hazelnut shake from Walmart with the safety cap in tact vs the mocha one from Shoppers which is obviously broken).

In what world is it okay for them to take product out of its packaging at time of shipping? Use a bigger box or split the order. In all my days of online shopping, I’ve never seen this before.

So I call customer service. Guy says to ship back with return label for refund. Ok, what about my bonus points? Oh they’ll get clawed back because you’re returning an item. So wait, you’re telling me that for no fault of my own I now have to ship the item back and lose my bonus points? Yes. Or go to store to see if they will exchange.

Great. Call store. They don’t do exchanges. They return item, then repurchase. Bonus points get clawed back. No other way around it. All I get is a “sorry about that, is there anything else I can help you with?”

I’m beyond frustrated. I could have gotten both items for cheaper at Walmart but only used Shopper’s because the bonus points made it worth it.

Guess I’m returning the entire order and going to give Walmart my business. That’s how you want to treat customers? I’ll take my money elsewhere.

Bags of Ambrosia apples marked as 5 pounds. On the scale, not a single bag was over 4.4 pounds. And the scale itself showed about 1.1 pounds for my 1 pound weight.

Never buying reduced price meat again. Told by no frills I’m taking a risk of spoiled meat when buying reduced price meat.

I bought chicken at my nearby no frills for reduced price. I bought it yesterday and it’s still dated till tomorrow. I opened it today and it smelt slightly off and looked off as well.

I try bringing it back to my no frills for a refund and I’m told that reduced price items are final sale. I try asking for an exception because I didn’t know reduced price means final sale also. From my experience, you’re normally told when something is final sale before purchasing. However, I just take the loss and realize I was maybe at fault because reduced almost means clearance basically.

However, what I was told just annoyed me. They told me that I’m basically taking the risk of buying spoiled meat when it’s reduced price. Well, why isn’t the store taking the risk of selling spoiled meat to the customer?

I underestimated the ‘Great Value’ and ‘Equate’ brand from Walmart.

I’ve been trying to cut back on my grocery bill. I’ve been meticulously trying to figure out why my bill is always high, apart from prices being high, the snack items like chips, cookies, chocolate bars, boxed mac and cheese are now more expensive than ever. Even canned tomatoes are expensive.

Although I cook 90% everything from scratch I still get my kids snacks so they don’t feel left out around their peers.

I decided to exclusively shop from Walmart for canned items, boxed sweet and savoury items, chips, coolies & chocolates along with frozen fruit and veggies and I’m seeing a very good difference this is making in cutting down my grocery budget.

Also the equate brand medicines are very reasonably priced as well.

I still buy things like milk, bread, burger buns, oil, paper towels, facial tissues, wipes, diapers, toothpaste & shampoo from Costco but everything else, like dry pantry goods, snacks and frozen fruit & veggies I now only get from the ‘Great Value’ and ‘Equate’ brand from Walmart.

Just wanted to share this with others if it might help your budget as well.

Edit: I also forgot to add, their monthly subscription for grocery delivery has been very helpful for me. Due to health issues I can’t walk much at the moment so their delivery service has been working good for me. I had only one missing item after several order whereas with the PC Express Pass I had several missing items and damaged perishable groceries. PC Express contracts to Door Dash for deliveries and none of the drivers have contacted me via text or rang my doorbell so I know the groceries are here. Several times hot perishable food items were left bare on the doorstep or gravel even after I had provided boxes to put them in. With Walmart it was never an issue. All items (perishable & non perishable) came secured.

Also, I’m not trying to promote anything here. Just sharing my experience.

I spent a year building a barcode scanner app that shows real prices at every store near you

Hey r/loblawsisoutofcontrol,

I’ve been building this alone for over a year, nights and weekends. Until now, I’ve basically been the only tester. Today I’m opening the first public beta.

It’s called ScanRebel.

Scan any grocery barcode and see what that exact product costs at stores near you — real branch-level prices with addresses and distances, not flyer averages.

It tracks price history so you can see if a “sale” is actually a sale, tracks shrinkflation, and lets you build a cart to compare the total across nearby stores.

You can also snap a photo of a shelf tag to contribute or correct a price. Every price shows where it came from, when it was seen, and whether it’s confirmed at that specific store or estimated. The goal is to never pretend the data is more certain than it actually is.

Right now there are 40+ million price points across Loblaws-family stores, Metro/Food Basics, Sobeys/FreshCo/IGA/Safeway/Foodland, and Walmart, refreshed weekly. Coverage is strongest in Ontario/GTA.

It’s a real beta. Things will break, photos are sparse, and I need people other than me to finally beat on it.

Does this actually help you shop? What’s broken, confusing, or missing? And what should I prioritize next?

iOS and Android beta:

https://scanrebel.app

Brutal feedback is genuinely welcome. I’ll be reading every comment.
