3 months post Botched Primary Rhinoplasty/Septoplasty

First 4 photos are 3 months post op, last four photos are pre op. Please excuse bad makeup.

Hello, I got a primary rhinoplasty/septoplasty with a well rated plastic surgeon in early February 2026. The purpose of the surgery was to remove a small dorsal hump and slightly refine the front. I loved my nose as a kid, teen and adult but as I've aged, I felt like the nose has gotten bigger in proportion to my face, and the dorsal hump was getting worse from the side.

I'm over 3 months post op at this point and I knew from day 7 when my cast was removed that something was wrong. My right nostril was notched and much higher than my left nostril upon cast off. Also, the nose was so narrow for being so soon after surgery. Usually, you see people with wide potato noses due to swelling, and the noses thin out over time. My surgeon didn't point out the retraction upon cast off and recommended taping. I flew home on day 10. When I pointed out the retracted nostril around week 2-3, he recommended daily massaging to help with scar tissue. I did, but it really didn't do much. I taped every day for 2 months and at night until month 3. Now at 3.5 months, my nose is way too slim for my face. Even if the right nostril didn't retract, he took out way too much cartilage. Even the left side (picture 2) doesn't look great and that's the side that didn't retract.

Pre op, my right nostril was smaller than my left nostril before as seen in picture 7, and you can clearly see in the picture 6 with the headphones that I had some type of scar or imperfection on my right nostril. I feel like the removal of too much cartilage contributed to the retraction despite the original imperfections, and he didn't have to remove so much! Thankfully, the nose is structurally fine and I can breathe wonderfully.

I have a consultation with a top revision surgeon "A" in September. He is very lowkey and not on social media, and won't do consults with patients until month 8-9 because there's really no point since the nose keeps changing. He has happy patients claiming that he can virtually restore birth noses but make them better. He doesn't have any patient communication groups that I know of. He does long consultations. I also am in a group for another big trending revision surgeon "B", who is known for revisions and has done good work with overly resected cartilage and retracted nostrils. He is active on social media but not to a crazy extent. There is another revision surgeon "C" who is in the south and massive on social media but has a few unhappy patients in his group. He is the most expensive.

My primary surgeon has been very communicative with me throughout these past three terrible months and is offering to do a closed alar rim graft using ear cartilage for free under general anesthesia at month 6-7. However, I'm not sure if I trust him to do this without making anything worse. In addition, I don't think I'll be happy with just the nostril fixed. I desperately need some width back. He really took out way too much cartilage and I just wanted a minor refinement. He has a perfect Real Self review and great before and afters with ethnic patients with thick skin(now I know realself reviews can be faked) but now I know he's not as good as I thought he was.

Should I do a small local revision at month 6 with my primary surgeon or wait to do one at 1 year with a better revision surgeon? It's hard to wait the full year for a revision because I have to wait another 9 months and my job is very front facing and I've been very depressed. I'd really appreciate any advice and opinions.

Revision Rhinoplasty

I am 10 months post op. my nose is swollen in this picture but I was thinking of going for a round 2 just to reduce the nostrils, nose and to refine the tip little more. I don’t like how wide my nose and nostrils look when I smile. I am scared to reduce my nostrils and get obvious scaring and triangular nostrils. My nostrils are weirdly shape. should I leave it alone? honest opinion

Drs that deproject an overgrafted nose and aging

Hi everyone, I got a revision and will need to get a second. Basically my nose was overgrafted and overprojected. I now look so much older and can’t recognize myself. I miss my youthful look, any drs that help restore a smaller nose?

Revision Rhinoplasty Search: Dr. Ruslan Zhuravsky / Dr. Z Face / Z Face Plastic Surgery / Dr. Zhuravsky

Hello Everyone,

I have had two unfavorable rhinoplasty experiences. I began looking into Dr. Zhuravsky for my third rhinoplasty, second revision. Although I like the surgeon, finding reviews has been a challenge, particularly for revision rhinoplasty. While this may be a shot in the dark, I was hoping any prior patients of this surgeon could share their input or experience, even if they only feel inclined to do so in DMs due to privacy concerns.

In particular, I need my nose derotated which it seems is not a skill many surgeons seem to possess. All input is deeply respected and appreciated! Thank you.

In the market for a surgeon.

I had a rhinoplasty 10 years ago, basically my nose looked like this but shaped with a bump. I don’t have photos. My nose has a bump on the right side now and is pretty lumpy to the touch.
I can’t breathe as well as I should, it’s too long and big. I’m looking for a US revision surgeon I can trust, I’m located on the east coast. I would travel to turkey but I don’t want to have a typical turkey nose. I still want to look like me.

Revision Surgeon Recommendations Needed

Hi everyone. I need advice on tertiary rhinoplasty surgeons for what is now primarily a functional revision. I was diagnosed with nasal valve collapse after my first revision (second surgery overall).

Right now my choices are Dean Toriumi, but the cost is around $50,000 and that doesn’t even include everything. At the same time, if paying that means I can finally breathe properly again and avoid another surgery down the line, then maybe it’s worth it. I am also considering Dr. Mario Imola in Denver. My insurance would cover the functional component for him which would count for something, and his pricing is more reasonable than Dr. Toriumi. I just don’t want to find myself in a position where I need to keep having surgeries, so if Dr. Toriumi would prevent that from happening then the cost seems worth it. I am also considering going back to the surgeon who I went to last time.

Cosmetically, I feel overprojected and I have blanching in my tip. I absolutely hate how stiff my septal extension graft feels, but I think it may be something I just have to live with because revising that graft would make an already complicated surgery even more complex.

Dr Ruslan Zhuravsky

I’m considering Dr Ruslan Zhuravsky for my primary rhinoplasty. I’ve spent months combing through reviews of his work trying to find a negative account. The first negative review I found was several weeks ago; someone who did their revision rhino with him ended up with undesirable results (he had corrected the tip of her nose but her nostrils were uneven and different from one another, and her nose bridge had reverted back to being curved after he used cartilage to reinforce and straighten it). I checked for her post again recently and turns out it was deleted alongside all comments she made on other people’s threads. Can anyone who’s had a rhinoplasty with him tell me about their long term results? I’d really appreciate it. Also if anyone has a rhinoplasty surgeon they recommend I would appreciate the info!

Rhinoplasty Surgery - 8 months

Looking for your honest thoughts/feedback

Hi everyone, I’m approaching the 1 year mark (time flies!!) from my rhinoplasty (surgery was September 2025) and wanted some honest opinions/advice from people who’ve had rhinoplasty or are familiar with healing.

Overall I definitely prefer my nose compared to before, but I still feel like the bottom of my nostrils/alar area looks thick or slightly swollen/heavy. The skin there feels thicker than the rest of my nose and sometimes I wonder if it still looks “unfinished” in a way. I feel like my nose still looks big.
This is my biggest area of concern now as it makes my nose look less soft.

I’d really appreciate honest feedback:
- Does it look like it healed well overall?
- Does the nostril/base area still look swollen or thick-skinned?
- Do you think the result suits my face naturally?
- Does it look like there’s room for improvement, or am I overanalyzing normal healing?
- For those with thick skin, did your tip/nostril area continue refining after 1 year?

I think I’ve stared at my nose so much that I genuinely can’t judge it objectively anymore lol, so outside opinions would really help. Thanks :)

Blowing nose after rib cartilage revision?

Hey guys, for those who have had revision rhinoplasty using costal cartilage, I have a strange question. Is it difficult to blow your nose? I’m preparing for a revision and full structural rebuild after a failed rhinoplasty where so many things went wrong. Right now it’s nearly impossible to blow my nose because the tip is hard and full of nodular scar tissue; I can’t even squeeze the nostrils closed when I blow my nose, so I end up blowing into a Kleenex and cleaning out the nostrils with Q-tips. Here’s my question: I’ve heard that the nose remains hard after a revision using rib cartilage. Is this permanent? Can you blow your nose once healed? For someone with significant allergies and constant drainage after the initial rhinoplasty, being able to blow or at least wipe my nose without having to use Q-tips would be lovely. I’m really looking forward to the aesthetic improvement of fixing the inverted V, polybeak, and bulbous tip full of scar tissue, but it would be lovely to be able to manage that yucky aspect once more.

Will I need a third revision? I hate my nose. I asked for super soft and feminine but I don’t think that’s what my surgeon asked for. Is this scar tissue?

Would love honest thoughts

Haven’t been able to shake that my tip looks pointy and slightly over projected since a 2019 rhino. I don’t hate it but it really bothers me that my tip looks “tented” and not round. I also have a white patch from the cartilage poking out.

Am close to booking a revision with Dr Pearlman who does believe this would be a minor revision compared to his other complex revision cases but there are always risks. He would deproject a bit to widen the tip and add fascia.

Would welcome any thoughts on this from a third party!!! Always overthinking my nose

Trauma all'apice ricostruzione disastrosa

Grazie .

3 Months Post Op - Bulbous Tip?

I had a revision back in Feb to fix my breathing & a few aesthetic issues. This included a rib graft. I feel like the tip of my nose is pretty bulbous - see pic 2 - a bit droopy. Think this is swelling or just how it is?

I’m not going to get another revision - my breathing is fixed which was always the main issue. But aesthetically, my main issue previously was the hanging tip so it’s a shame to still have this. Thoughts?

1 month + 1 week post op Last 2 pics are my before nose 🩷 Only thing I’m not thrilled about rn is one nostril seems to have a notch where it’s slightly pulled more upward but hoping it’s swelling?

Has anyone had a complex revision rhinoplasty for narrow bridge or breathing issues (not due to septum) - can you share your doctor’s name and experience with the surgery?
