WE ALL really just gotta CALM DOWN

WE ALL really just gotta CALM DOWN

That’s what I’ve learned through my post revision rhinoplasty, top photo is 1 month post revison and bottom is just shy of 10 weeks post op. I went through the crash out phase, I went through the spirals, thinking omg my nose is worse, it’s so crooked blah. Is my nose perfect, no. Do I have lots of swelling still, yes. But can I see the light at the end of the tunnel, finally.

I know I have ways to go, but I will say, my first surgery was a septoplasty so I had nothing cosmetic done, was way easier. I was out and confident and happy 4 weeks post op… totally different story here.

although my nose wasn’t bad before, he did give me a cute slope and fixed my breathing again, (septoplasty + turbinate reduction) I had a crash out 2 days post op because I started bleeding out of my nose profusely where I had to go back to the hospital and have my splints removed and my nose packed because the post op nurse who came to visit me irrigated my nose and something must have broken open. Anyways. Since then, I’ve had spitting stitches which made me crash out again thinking I had a severe infection, itchiness which was fixed with just keeping my nose moist. Wearing my nasal retainer every night and still taping which sucks. But again, I can see that I’m going in a positive direction.

I had my surgery April 27th in Istanbul, I’m from Canada. Was it the scariest thing I’ve ever done. Absolutely, would I travel to another country for surgery again? Not sure I can say so… BUT am I glad I spent 6500$ CAD in Turkey vs 32,000$ in Toronto ? Yes.

Is my tip still big? Revision?

I’m thinking of getting a revision for a small tweak. I am 13 months post op. The residual bump bothers me and I also don’t think my tip is lifted enough. It still looks big and bulky to me and I want it lifted more.

I also feel like my tip is still bulbous and looks like a ball at the end. I had my revision done last May and that was my 3rd revision. Here is a pic of the front… before and after, a side pic and a recent pic I took from the front when smiling. It still looks droopy. Thoughts??

Looking into Dr. Khosh for revision rhinoplasty. Have met with him & really liked him & his natural results. Has anyone had a positive experience with this type of surgery with him?

Am i gonna need a revision

Im crying all day honestly.. i got rhinoplasty where i live in czech republic (couldnt afford going to turkey or anywhere else).. i had a nasal valve collapse and a nose tip that was wide and bulbous that i hated and i also had tiny assymetrical nostrils..

Im 33 days post op and im seeing NO difference. In either of those. If anything my collapse, nostrils and nose width is worse.

Am i crazy be honest

I’m 10 months post-op from an open rhinoplasty + septoplasty (surgery was September 17, 2025), and I honestly don’t know what’s normal anymore.
I’m attaching photos. The left photo was taken before I went to the gym (basically after waking up), and the right photo was taken immediately after about an hour of lifting weights and cardio, so my nose was definitely more swollen. Literally tell me if im 100% crazy idc anymore lol wont be offended whatsoever!
The weird thing is… I actually like my nose more after working out. It looks fuller and more like how I wanted it to look.
What concerns me is that:
I feel like there’s a noticeable dent/indentation on the left side of my nose.
On the right side, I have what feels like a hard area that sticks out. To me it looks and feels like scar tissue, but I honestly don’t know.
It started becoming noticeable around month 3, and since then it has gradually gotten worse. It doesn’t seem to fluctuate much. It doesn’t really shrink and then come back—it just slowly progressed to where it is now.
Could it be scar tissue? Could it be swelling? Or a combination of both?
Does it look like the swelling is mainly on the sidewalls of my nose? That’s what I think I’m seeing, but maybe I’m imagining it.
Another issue is my breathing.
I can barely breathe through my right nostril. Looking inside, it almost looks completely blocked from the entrance all the way back.
My left side isn’t normal either. It looks fairly open if I look inside, but it feels blocked much higher up, almost toward the bridge. Sometimes it opens a little, but it’s never what I’d consider normal breathing.
A couple of months ago (around 8 months post-op) I got sick and started using Afrin. Unfortunately I developed rebound congestion.
I stopped using it on the left side about a month ago, but I kept using it only in my right nostril because otherwise I couldn’t sleep.
Here’s the confusing part:
Even though I only spray the right nostril, it feels like my left nostril also breathes better afterward.
Does that make any sense? Is there an explanation for that?
Today I finally stopped the Afrin completely, and now my right side is basically impossible to breathe through again. My left side also isn’t breathing well, even though I haven’t been spraying it for about a month.
That makes me wonder:
If Afrin improves my breathing, does that mean my problem is mostly swelling?
Or can Afrin temporarily improve breathing even if scar tissue is the underlying issue?
Does Afrin working basically rule out scar tissue, or not?
Some other questions:
Does this look like scar tissue, persistent swelling, a deformity, or something else?
How can doctors actually tell the difference between scar tissue and swelling?
Are steroid injections actually effective for scar tissue this far out? is it even worth the risk? Im so scared of getting that and making it worse because my surgeon doesn’t do it and recommended nothing and is very dismissive. Am i crazy or am i being gaslit because he says he doesn’t even see what im talking about.
If it is scar tissue, what treatment options are there? Will it go away on its own even if it will take 5 years?
At 10 months post-op, is there still any chance this improves on its own?
For context, I have very thick skin and a boulbous tip.
Also, my nose looked completely different when my cast first came off. Those photos are still on my profile if anyone wants to compare. I actually loved how it looked during that first week. It looked fuller, larger, and more balanced to me.
Over time, it feels like my nose has gotten smaller and smaller, especially the tip, even though the hard area I’m feeling doesn’t seem soft at all. That’s another thing that’s confusing me. If it’s hard like scar tissue, why does the nose seem to have shrunk so much compared to my early post-op photos?
Unfortunately, my surgeon has basically been no help. He doesn’t perform steroid injections, doesn’t do revisions, and hasn’t been responsive, so going back to him really isn’t an option.
I’d really appreciate honest opinions, especially from people who’ve dealt with thick skin, scar tissue, steroid injections, breathing issues, or revision rhinoplasty.
Does this look normal for 10 months? What would you do if you were in my position? Will it keep getting smaller? I know it could take 2 years for final results since im thick skin.

Researching surgeons on Real self

I'm interested in learning how people used RealSelf when choosing a plastic surgeon and what information they relied on during that process.

If you used RealSelf to choose your surgeon, whether for a primary procedure or a revision, I would really appreciate hearing about your experience, whether it was positive, negative, or somewhere in between.

Please feel free to comment below or send me a DM. Thank you!

Should I do a revision?

I had a rhinoseptoplasty 1 year ago. Before I had a very symmetrical but huge nose. I wanted a straight nose, no slope at all! That was very important to me. Directly after rhino it looked quite straight.

However, the nose completely formed a slope (see side view), which I really dislike. Also the nose is very asymmetrical – both the bridge und the tip. I am now exactly 1 year post op and I have to decide whether I want a revision. Any opinions or suggestions? I am scared of making it worse but at the same time I am so unhappy with the result.

For context: I did the nose job in Zurich (Switzerland). The surgeon is very young and has only little experience – I completely regret choosing him.

Revision rhinoplasty UK question

Edit- for clarity, I am not seeking advice on what I should have done to the rest of my face. Thank-you.

Hi everyone,

I'm looking for some honest advice and hopefully some recommendations.

I'm trying to find a decent revision rhinoplasty surgeon in England (or elsewhere in the UK, including Scotland or Northern Ireland) with a budget of around £7,000–£8,000.

I recently had an online assessment with Nordaesthetics in Lithuania. Based on my photos, they felt I have a polybeak deformity, likely because not enough bone was removed during my primary rhinoplasty in 2017. They said I'd probably need a revision rhinoplasty, potentially with a rib graft, and quoted me just over €5,000.

Once I've factored in flights, accommodation and other travel costs, I'd probably be spending around £5,500–£6,000 anyway. That made me think that if I could find a decent surgeon in the UK for £7,000–£8,000, I'd much rather pay the extra £1,000–£2,000 and have the surgery closer to home.

The problem is that I've contacted several highly recommended UK revision surgeons and have received quotes of £20,000+, which was honestly quite disheartening.

So I guess my question is: am I chasing something that simply doesn't exist? Is it realistic to find a genuinely good revision rhinoplasty surgeon in the UK for £7k–£8k, or am I better off accepting that my budget means I should continue looking abroad?

I'd genuinely appreciate honest answers. If the reality is that my budget isn't realistic for England, I'd rather know than keep contacting surgeons and getting my hopes up.

This whole process feels surprisingly vulnerable. Every consultation means sending photos of a feature I've been unhappy with for years and hearing another opinion about what went wrong with my first surgery, only to then find out it may be financially out of reach to correct. It's been a bit emotionally draining.

If anyone has had a successful revision rhinoplasty within this budget, I'd be incredibly grateful for surgeon recommendations, especially outside London. Equally, if you have experience with revision surgery and think I'm being unrealistic, I'd really appreciate your perspective too.

I've attached my photos. The blonde photos show the result after my 2017 rhinoplasty, and the brunette photos are how my nose looks now.

Thank you so much for taking the time to read this.

Looking for best ENT + Board-Certified Rhinoplasty Surgeons who won’t break the bank?

Hey everyone, I’m looking for personal recommendations for a rhinoplasty surgeon.

Because breathing is just as important to me as aesthetics, I’m specifically looking for a board-certified facial plastic surgeon who is also an ENT specialist.

**My starting point:**

1.Thick skin with a round/bulbous tip

2.Wide nose and wide nasal bridge

  1. Slightly low dorsal height(quite unsure about this one)

**My budget:**

Moderate and mid-range. I want to avoid insanely expensive celebrity clinics, but I’m definitely not trying to cheap out on my face either. Looking for a solid, reputable expert.

If you have a similar nose type and love your results (both breathing and appearance), please drop their name, city, and a rough price estimate below—or feel free to DM me! Thank you!

Searching for revision rhinoplasty surgeons

Hi I am currently searching for revision rhinoplasty surgeons. I underwent a primary functional septorhinoplasty Jan 2025 and had a poor outcome. I am now dealing with internal valve collapse, nasal pinching, and alar retraction. I have consulted with a few surgeons but have not yet chosen one. I was wondering if anyone has dealt with similar issues & had them successfully fixed. Looking for recommendations, thank you!

I’m a year and 8 months post op.

My friends keep telling me I’m delusional.

But even tho fairly minor, it’s still there. Is this something filler can help with ?

Looking for revision rhinoplasty in Middle East / turkey

I messaged two well seasoned surgeons in Jordan but they won’t operate on my case. My case is a little complex, this would be my third surgery:

Surgery 1: septoplasty (without any beautification)
Over 10 years : the septoplasty left me with a drooping tip and a new hump that wasn’t present before

Surgery 2: rhinoplasty to lift the tip a little bit (only the droop and I wanted something natural) and shaving my hump - doctor used rib harvest and put sturt grafts.

The result: overturned tip, (reconstructed my whole tip shape) and the hump isn’t even shaved well it came back.

I am looking for someone willing to derotate, back to a neutral level and give me a medium slope. I am not willing to do rib graft again so I need a doctor willing to work with what’s in there… I may consider ear graft if needed.

I’m planning to do this surgery summer of 2027 so any leads or recommendations will help

Columella scar

I had my stitches removed 3 days ago after a revision rhinoplasty, and I’m honestly so stressed about my columella scar.

The first time I had rhinoplasty, my scar was red but it was never raised like this. This one looks more elevated and u can see where the stitches were, and I’m terrified it’s going to stay or heal that way. Has anyone had a similar-looking raised scar that eventually flattened and became barely visible? If so, I’d really appreciate if you could share your experience or even before/after photos! Please send a dm

I’m already using scar gel consistently, keeping the area clean, and following my surgeon’s instructions. My mind is already jumping to laser treatments because I’m so anxious.

When is it usually safe to start laser treatment for a rhinoplasty scar? And what about tretinoin, has anyone used it on their columella scar, and if so, when did you start? Any tips appreciated

Could really use some reassurance right now. Just want improvement on the scar asap..

What Happened? Nose looks worse now four month post op than it did before. Mental health crisis. Botched?

I am seeking a revision, but I am trying to understand what happened. It’s ruined my mental health.

The first three pictures are one month to six weeks post op. The last two are now four months post op. Last one is today. It’s even worse than my before nose.

After all this sacrifice and effort, it’s worse now than it was pre op

Rhinoplasty in Toronto

Hello!

Considering a primary rhinoplasty (cosmetic only) with a surgeon in Toronto. Researching surgeons has become overwhelming as I've read lots about the good and bad- and I am \*hoping\* for a successful primary rhino without revisions. I do not have any bumps, but would like some a small change to a flat spot/bony structure (bridge) and refined tip. Not sure if attempting to improve my nose is worth it. 😕

Wondering if anyone can share their thoughts on these surgeons listed below (for Rhinos only). Or if you can recommend someone that you've used personally. If anyone would be willing to connect to share photos that would be awesome too.

  1. Dr Solomon
  2. Dr Asaria
  3. Dr Fialkov
  4. Dr Oakley
  5. Dr Rival
  6. Dr Jamil Ahmad
  7. Dr Ashlin Alexander

Thanks!

How have you got on with diced cartilage on the dorsum?

I'm due a revision rhinoplasty to fill a small dent on my dorsum with diced cartilage. (i used to have a really straight high nose and it was over resected, causing some aesthetic issues flatness, break of light, etc.). The plan with my surgeon is to use diced cartilage as the area is so small, so thin it won't be wrapped in fascia. I'm feeling hopeful but im having a hard time with getting online examples. Only coming across negative issues of raised texture and cartilage poking through or dents. I'd really appreciate hearing anyone's experience with this! I believe its quite a standard procedure but i have not been able to find much positive online documentation.
