It’s my two year anniversary of stopping vaping today

17th August 2024 I had a horrible chest infection in both lungs. Woke me up a bit and I quit vaping (after something close to 15 years) before which I was easily on 20 bensons a day for the better part of a decade or two.

I remember being proud of myself switching from smoking to vaping in that it was 95% safer. However, the convenience and comfort factor meant I was easily vaping more than 20 times more than I was ever smoking which probably wiped out any benefit.

Am still on 2mg niquitin mints which I’m using like sweets and really should do something about but that will come in good time.

If you’re thinking about it, just go for it. If I can, anyone can.

please read

hey guys, i’ma make this short. lately I been feeling like I’m kinda falling into not sadness but depression. it’s hard for me to cry so I haven’t been able to but sometimes I find myself not really wanting to wake up or getting thoughts like that. i’ve been hitting the nic and before I could take breaks but now it’s hard. my last nic is completely dead and says it’s out of juice and I’ve still been hitting it out of desperation of being able to feel something. i don’t wanna become a nic feen (barely started hitting nic this year) and i have more nics but i keep tryna resist the urge to open one and just blow this last one out. it feels like i’m torn in two.

what should i do ? how do i battle this rising addiction ( I’ve already stopped smoking weed for months , i recently drank , no other vices and i’m medicated with an antipsychotic and antidepressant though i feel like something is missing from my med list because i don’t feel as good as i know i can and it’s been months on the same dosage). how do i beat these crippling feelings and stop hitting the nic ? i wanna open one so bad :(

Incredibly high energy

So, I quit smoking nicotine, but still have a small nightcap before bed of weed. Nicotine was invading my life and making me feel weak and exhausted constantly. 2 weeks in and I feel great, too much so almost. I have had multiple nights where i hadn't slept because i was barely even losing steam by the 40 hour mark. I know it isn't sustainable and I'll get around to correcting it but, has anyone else had something like this before? It doesn't even feel like insomnia because i do feel pretty good. This has been with and without the weed as well, so it isn't a direct cause at least. Maybe some self medicated ADHD whiplash? idk lol. Just curious if anyone has had similar.

Quitting vaping!

I’m thinking of quitting, I’ve done it before for a few days but gave up.. I thought I’d quit again so I didn’t some online searching about the benefits to make me want too but now I’m not so sure if I want to because everyone’s talking about how you will gain around 10ib from quitting? Is this true or is it just because some people cope with quitting through eating more? If I still eat the same as I do now will I gain or just stay the same? I don’t know if this is stupid but I just need advice.

so so tired

Hey yall I’m on day 3. I am so exhausted all the time. I don’t think I have slept this much in my entire life. I go to work during the day, then immediately come home and sleep until my next shift. I think I made it this far to day 3 because I have been sleeping non stop, I haven’t had time to think about missing vaping. Honestly though I haven’t had any super bad cravings, I am just so tired. It’s so hard to drive to work, to wake up, to sit at my desk. Waking up is the hardest. I feel like I have been looking an absolute mess everyday because I take any extra time to sleep in. Anyways, does anyone have advice to stop the extreme fatigue? Or is this just a side effect I’m going to have to ride out?

I’m Finally Trying to Quit Vaping and the Withdrawal is the Worse Part

I have health issues that suggest I really shouldn’t be smoking such as MS and Bipolar. I’ve been vaping for about 2 years now. Before I started vaping I had smoked on and off but I had never been addicted. I would just smoke a cigerette while drinking or something like a few times a month. But now it’s safe to say I’m addicted.

I decided to finally quit vaping which for me is hard because the vape is there and available. I don’t have to go outside to smoke it. Right now I’m using the gum and cutting back on the vape. I’m still vaping right now, but no where near as much as I was. Like I would aay before I was doing it allll the time, like every few minutes and now I’m doing it like maybe 7 or 8 times a day, sometimes less. The gum, I’m using 4mg Nicorette gum and I’m doing that at most 6 times a day. I’m on day 3 of that.

The problem is, I’m getting withdrawal symptoms. Which I think is weird if I’m still using nicotine. I have stomach issues, trouble sleeping, anxiety, irritability and a panicked feeling when I lay down to go to sleep.

My Mom suggested I use the patch the other day so I decided to order Nicoderm Step 1 21 mg patches. I plan on doing that and using the gum for right now when I get an urge which I saw was recommended by the CDC and Mayo Clinic. I plan on not vaping with the patch at all, and I’m hoping I don’t have such bad withdrawal symptoms.

What was your guy’s experience quitting with the patch or/and nicotine gum? Did you have withdrawal symptoms? Do you currently have withdrawal symptoms? Any advice?

How can heavy vaping affect your skin

So I’ve been vaping for a year now but like really heavy vaping I finish like a 6000 puff vape in 2 to 3 days and I want to quit because my eyes always look tired and my face is puffy all the time but I’m not really sure if it’s the vape or not because I get good sleep or that’s what I think because I always weak up tired but I do sleep 8 hours so if you can please tell me if since you quit any of these things i mentioned have improved for you.

Nearly 3 days in - Update

(Sorry, this is long but it’s from the heart lmao)

I’m about 65 hours / 2.5 days completely nicotine-free after ~1.5 years of basically constant use. I was doing around 4 6mg pouches a day, plus the occasional vape rip.

I quit because I’m just fucking done being dependent on something this dumb to feel normal. Nic was basically built into my entire day: caffeine → nic, meal → nic, meal → nic, meal → nic, then another one before bed. It was stressful as fuck having to always have it, and honestly it feels better already not having to plan my day around it.
The biggest reasons I kept using were appetite suppression, stress, and motivation. I also felt like I hadn’t even earned my physique because nicotine was helping me stay lean, which fucked with my confidence.

Withdrawal has been rough. I’ve been mad and anxious as hell and I swear I’ve almost caved like 20 times. The thought that keeps popping up is basically: “Okay Coop, let’s be honest, you’re eventually gonna fold, so just fold right now.” And somehow my brain makes that feel completely true.

I’ve quit about 4 times before, usually making it around this point, although one time I made it 2 weeks. This time I genuinely feel like it’s gonna stick. At this point, the hardest shit is already happening, so why the fuck would I reset it?

There have actually been some pretty crazy
positives already. I look more vibrant, my gym pumps are WAY better, I’m more motivated and feel like I can do cardio/activity for way longer, and I feel more confident. My anxiety is weird too — withdrawal itself is anxiety-inducing, but without the constant nicotine spikes I feel more grounded and like my mood is just more fluid instead of jumping around.

And yeah, erections have been noticeably more frequent and significantly stronger/bigger already. 💀 That was one of the things I was hoping would improve from getting off nicotine.

Appetite honestly hasn’t changed nearly as much as I expected. I think I’m holding a little more water, but overall I’m doing fine there.

Sleep is kinda weird right now. I’m waking up around 7–7:30 absolutely fucking tweaking with energy. Energy is WAY better, but going to bed without a pouch still feels bizarre.

I’ve been using weed mostly at night to take the edge off, since I don’t really like being high during the day, but nicotine is still 100% gone.

Right now I’m basically just telling myself keep pushing. I don’t really have some magical strategy. I went for a walk this morning when I was craving after a huge meal, then went to the gym instead.

So for anyone who has quit successfully: how the fuck do you deal with the thoughts that you’re eventually going to cave anyway? That’s honestly the hardest part for me right now. I can handle a craving, but convincing myself that I’m actually going to stay quit is the part I’m struggling with

I built a quit-smoking app - looking for feedback

A lot of quit-smoking apps are good at showing time, money saved, and a streak. Those things matter, but I kept coming back to the moment just before smoking: what do I believe this cigarette will give me right now - relief, focus, a break, company, or a reward?

That question became the basis of Zero Nic, an Android app I built around short interactive sessions and an in-the-moment craving tool.

When a craving hits, the app can help in a few different ways: it can ask what the cigarette seems to promise and help you examine that thought, or guide you through 4-7-8 breathing or a 5-4-3-2-1 five-senses grounding exercise. You can save what you noticed, and the app keeps your reflections and patterns so a slip does not erase everything you have learned. There are also the usual smoke-free counter and money-saved stats, but they are not the main focus.

The app currently has:

- 12 short interactive sessions
- a quick tool for working through a craving
- saved triggers, patterns, and reflections
- an optional AI conversation feature
- progress and money-saved tracking

To be transparent about the business model: the first three sessions and the core craving tool are free. Sessions 4 - 12, AI conversations, evening reflections, and deeper insights are Premium, with subscription and one-time lifetime options. Google Play shows the exact local price before any purchase.

The course is the core of the app, so that is where feedback would be most valuable. If you try the first three free sessions, I would especially like to know:

- Did any idea or exercise genuinely shift how you think about smoking, or did the material mostly tell you things you already knew?
- Did the sessions feel clear and engaging, or were any parts too long, repetitive, preachy, or difficult to follow?

GOOGLE PLAY LINK: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.zeronic.app

Thanks for reading. Positive feedback is welcome, but criticism that helps me improve it is even more useful.

P.S. I am on day 47, never felt better. I wish you luck on finding your own method of quitting, you can do it!

Please tell me it gets better

Hey, honestly just need some reassurance at this stage.
39 days no vaping & then I fkd up and had two cigs 28 days ago (went out drinking and had them) but cold turkey no patches or gum

First week of no nicotine felt amazing, free and strong.
Then I got sick with the flu and I feel like it’s been downhill from there - constantly on and off crying for the last 3 weeks and feeling like I’ve been stuck in flight or fight mode. For 2 hours I could feel completely normal and the next I’m ready to cry. I wake to anxious before I’ve even had my first thought. My mood regulating is next to none to the point people at work asked me how I was and I started bawling my eyes out for literally no reason.
Everything at home is good, everything at work good.
I’ve been to the drs and they’ve confirmed this is from quitting vaping but that there’s no point me trying nicotine gum/patches because of how long it’s been since I last had nicotine and that Itd probably make me feel worse now. His suggestions were to either speak to a psych (which I will be doing) or start escitalopram to balance my mood, which I don’t really want to start unless it’s worse case.
I’m still working out which is the only thing making me feel sane at this stage.
I guess my question is has anyone felt the same way, did you overcome it on your own and how long did it take for you to feel better or did you start meds to help?
Thanking you well and truely in advance

How you stop throwing your vape away when you decide to quit but somehow end up buying a new one later?

Anyone have successful tips, tricks or experiences to break the vicious cycle?

Vaping occasionally

I’m having difficult time on not going to buy another vape. I vape occasionally for the last year and a half like I’ll go a few months in between and a 4,000 puff vape usually lasts me like 4 or 5 months. I find it hard to avoid when drinking and being out with friends. I feel as though I almost can’t have fun without it. I have health anxiety and every time I hit it I convince myself that one hit does irreversible damage. How do I just cut it off completely?

Edit: I’ve already gone a month without it but still fight it

Any success using non-nicotine vaping?

Curious if vaping without nicotine is helpful to stop nicotine. If one just enjoys the act of it rather than the substance. Your experiences and feedback welcome
