Little Red Rooster 1970

I can’t get over how good this song is. Morrison’s vocals is at an all time high, and John sebastian slide guitar and Ray’s keys is just so magical and bluesy, can’t stop listening. Anyone else love this song and think the same?

Do you prefer the live shows where Ray is on the Vox Continental organ or the Gibson organ?

I know that most of the live career of the doors, Ray uses the Gibson organ, but there’s just something about the Vox Continental from the early shows that sounds so good, so vintage. In fact, I love it so much that I own a 1968 Vox Continental and 1971 Fender Rhodes Bass :)

Self Produce

The Doors, all of them, had a high acumen of musical ability and a strong grasp of creating a thematic concept of an album:
They could've have produced their own catalog as Led Zeppelin did
what do you think??

A “Doors Album” I made. Limiting myself to 11 songs, which made it very difficult.

You’re going to pick up a girl for a drive… on acid.

Doors Masterpieces

I'm wondering what other people would consider to be the doors 'masterpieces'. Edit: to clarify I am referring to songs rather than albums

Personally I would say when the musics over, the end, LA woman and riders on the storm.

Maybe I'm a sucker for a long song but I also consider these to be the four best doors tracks.

I should add that I enjoy songs like break on through, peace frog and crystal ship just as much, though I wouldn't quite call them masterpieces.

That Time I Had to Lie to My Best Friend Just to Listen to The Soft Parade

In the summer of 1980, my best friend and I made money mowing lawns. One weekend, we got work tilling a neighbor's garden.

I had just bought The Soft Parade, so I taped the album onto a cassette and brought it along so we could listen while we worked.

He hated The Doors. He absolutely refused.

I told him I thought the record might have skipped while I was taping it and that I needed to listen all the way through to make sure I didn't have to return the album.

That worked.

I’m now listening chronologically through the complete catalogs of 29 classic rock artists, three full listens per album.

I’m 118 albums in, and The Doors are currently sitting at #2.  I still have 211 albums left, so I have no idea whether they stay there.

EPILOGUE: my friend grew up to become a corporate attorney. I grew up and became (maybe already was) a salesperson.

Why is everyone so hostile to the remixes?

Hello! I'm a newer Doors fan! I've listened to the original mixes to get the experience the band wanted in the 60s, but then I wanted to listen to the new mixes so I don't have to deal with the rough hard panning the early albums had, but all I hear about how much they suck, I've admittedly only listened to the 2017 remix of self titled but i think it's an infinite improvement. I hope this doesn't get hate, I'm genuinely curious over why the fandom is so jaded by the new mixes.

The Doors PBS Critique

My apologies if this has been brought up before. Has there been any move to remaster and release this by The Doors at any time?

I don't know if it's owned by anyone in particular, or if the tapes are too corrupted or what, but ever since I saw this footage 30-some years ago, I've been blown away!

It would make a great CD/record or some kind of release on streaming or DVD/Blu-ray, if those things are still done.
