I've heard many recommendations from stores on TaoBao. I attempted to even just view their items and even switched to CN language/interface but it only says I can't buy from outside China.
I've heard of third-party forwarding services but it would add more shipping costs.
Have any of you guys ordered tea directly on TaoBao while in a PH address? How did you do it?
I haven't been minding my tea cabinet lately due to busyness, pero napapansin ko yung humidity meter ko palaging >80% dahil sa habagat rains this past few weeks.
Buti na lang most of my loose teas are stored airtight with silica gel, but I leave a few out to age/ventilate. Mukhang okay pa naman though I'm a bit worried with my aged shou pu'er cake.
Well, if not for the tea, it turns out nag-amag yung mga wooden utensils ko sa cabinet 🥲 Tea tongs, tea scoop, utensil holder, matcha whisk, halos lahat. Some have more mold than others. But I'll have to start cleaning (or throwing out) I guess.
I did some research and ang sabi ni Google, is to rinse first with warm soapy water and then apply white vinegar to kill the molds. For wooden utensils daw yan so I hope it works.
I'm glad I haven't gotten into Yixing pots yet since they're even more prone to molds due to their porous surface. Buti nalang mostly ceramic yung teaware ko, but I worry for the wooden utensils.
Sigh, just the thought of molds spreading in my tea cabinet makes me feel uncomfortable. Pero ganun talaga, maulan ngayon kaya hindi maiiwasan yung humidity.
So, I guess this is just a reminder (to self) to look after tea things better in rainy weather, and pray that the molds won't spread to my aging cakes 🥹🙏
Hope everyone is safe and dry!
I’m using kada matcha’s powder 4g 40ml warm water
Originally i was using frother (time saver for me) and just decided to do whisk because of curiosity.
Any tips if what should i improve?
Thank you!
I am from Cebu and will be visiting my friends in Manila soon. I'll be crawling for specialty coffee and loose leaf tea bars as a sidequest po.
I've tried Cha Yi last year and I'm planning to visit Flora Tea Bar, Chagee and CHICHA San Chen soon. Would like to check if there are others that the sub would rec? Thank you!

Preferred Brew: gong fu cha/traditional Japanese
Gongfu tea and raising goldfish are my two main practices, when I saw Purple Cloud TH had these of course I had to get it. Now I have something to bridge my two hobbies. I feel so complete now.
Cups are 30 ml, gold rimmed with painted goldfish motifs, Paper thin, delicate, beautiful.
Christening it to the table with an Eight Immortals (八仙) dancong, a sample provided with the order brewed in my little shuiping also from PCTH.
I was in Shenzhen a few weeks back and I was able to attend the Global Tea Expo in which where I got these tea pets and my new Yixing teapot. ☺️
1st time ko mag Yixing teapot.

just curious about how people started drinking tea. I’ve been wanting to try loose leaf chinese tea for a while so I bought coin samplers and loved it ever since
before that bowl was used for my teapet it was my 盖** **tapos the brewing vessel is a random cup from a surplus shop.
and even before that I used two paper cups
This just shows u can really drink tea with anything. You dont even need the lid i guess
about 10g of phoenix dancong bec it’s a big cup
So yes, I joined a handbuilding session for ceramics and made myself a duck-shaped teapot, 2 tea cups, an adorable snake tea pet, and some random trinket tray. 🥰
These babies will go on a kiln and I will see them after 6-8 weeks. So excited! I do hope the small strainer holes I made near the spout is functional and the glaze doesn't clog them all 🫠🙏
So nice to finally have a tea room in Cebu that features Japanese teas that’s not just matcha. Don’t get me wrong, matcha is great, but there’s more Japanese greens to explore and I think this place offers just that.
They have a display table where you can check out the loose leaf teas that they offer, very reminiscent of specialty coffee shops you visit in Thailand and Japan. If you order loose leaf tea, they serve the tea in either a futanashi or kyusu and you can brew it together with the hot water that goes with it.
They also have matchas and hojichas in latte format, as well as Filipinized wagashi like ohagi that uses biko or puto instead of the trafitional Japanese version with anko. I got the genmaicha and hojicha latte, paired with ohagi and mizu yokan.
If there’s anything I’d like to see more of, it’s probs extending the loose leaf tea lineup to wakoucha kasi masasarap din naman ang Japanese black teas 😭
If you get to visit Cebu, you might want to try this out!
Cold-brewed tea is just perfect for hot summer days. It’s been crazy hot in Guangdong lately, and I start sweating after barely moving. I’ve been really into different cold-brewed teas lately, and Gardenia Oolong has been my favorite so far. After cold brewing, the gardenia aroma is really strong, and the tea tastes lightly sweet with a slight cooling feeling.
I put it in the fridge to cold brew overnight. In the morning, after pouring out the tea, I add water again. Even on the second brew, the gardenia aroma is still really strong.
Location: WooTEA - Gateway Mall 1
We recently opened a milk tea shop (Taiwanese franchise) in Gateway Mall Cubao Araneta City — probably not the easiest time to start a business 😅
Honestly, the timing has been challenging. With prices going up and people becoming more careful with their spending, opening a new food & beverage business right now definitely feels like a risk.
But we still decided to go for it.
Hope you can all try and support!! 🥹
Btw, this is our bestselling product, Thai Milk Tea with Pearl (yes, ironic, because we’re a Taiwanese brand.. but our customers love it!) — perfect balance between tea, creaminess, and sweetness as per our customers ☺️
I really wanted to quit coffee dahil ang baduy daw ng brewed black coffee ko. Lagi ako nabubully na hindi ko kayang mag coffee shop kaya daw puro ako black coffee. Though hindi talaga ako fan ng mga coffee shop, I brew my own coffee using french press.
Since nakita ko itong reddit community na ito, I really wanted to try tea. I am willing to learn and to read some suggestions on how to start.
Taga Metro Manila po ako. I really want slightly strong tea pero enjoyable ('yung parang after taste ng Coco na milk tea, or yung hot na matcha).
Thanks in advance sa mga tips and recommendations.
