Hamilton is a 5 year old, 150 pound Great Pyrenees/Rottweiler mix. He likes to pretend to be tough, but he’s a giant baby (think Mac from IASIP).

A few years ago, my husband and I planned a two-night trip about 7 hours from home over a weekend. We didn’t realize until closer to the date of the trip that it was the weekend before the 4th of July. By the time we called our vet for boarding, they had no availability. Hamilton is a too big for any of our friends or family to watch overnight, so we ended up calling the host of the Airbnb we had booked to ask if we could pay a pet deposit and bring him.

The host was really nice and agreed to let us bring him. We were excited - there was going to be a beach and he’d never been! Everything was set. He did great on the ride there and had a blast on the first day. And then.

So, when we booked the house, we thought that there would be some space around the houses (at least a bit). When we got there, the houses were much closer than expected. No big deal, we like people! So does Hamilton! Everyone loved him, it was great!

What we didn’t realize at first was that the house directly next to the one we were staying in was being rented out by a family having a family reunion, and they were going all out. That night, they put on a professional-level fireworks show that lasted at least 30 minutes (I want to say it was longer, but it may just be extended in my mind because of how horrible it was).

The fireworks were being set off like, maybe 15-20 feet from the house we were in, if that. Hamilton was absolutely terrified. Honestly, it was so loud that I was uncomfortable even in the house, too. It was LOUD. We didn’t know beforehand that they were going to put on the show, and we had been drinking, so we couldn’t take him away, and there was nowhere really to go in the house we were in, so Hamilton curled up in the darkest corner he could find, shaking. He has PTSD (seriously, from the vet. He gets a prescription each year during firework season).

So as we lay in our couch nest that is the only thing that will calm him down when there are fireworks (pic 1) I thought I’d post the pictures I have of my giant baby boy. I also threw in some of my favorite pictures of him happy so this wasn’t completely depressing. Last pic is the two of us. I’m 5’4” (162 cm).

Can anyone help me with a clip?

My husband and I love Shin Chan. We very frequently say, “you want shock, I’ll shock you full of shock!” From the episode where he says it to his mom after (before?) he tries to go on a pee strike.

I’ve tried to find the clip of him saying this but haven’t been able to find it. We used to have the first season in dvd but loaned it someone who never returned it, so I can’t get it that way. Anyone have it and can send it to me?

Can anyone help me find a specific clip from an interview with Amanda Tapping for promoting Stargate Atlantis?

This one is pretty specific so I have no idea if anyone will be able to find it. When I was in high school (2002-2006), my brother and I used to stay up late and watch Stargate SG-1 (I’m guessing on Syfy, but I could definitely be wrong). One night there was a segment I *think* promoting Stargate Atlantis when the first season was released and during the segment there was an interview with Amanda Tapping. I don’t remember anything about the interview, but at one point she looks straight at the camera, holds her fist in front of her mouth/nose (palm/fingers facing her mouth) and says “curses!” My brother and I laughed so hard because it was late and we were slap happy and for the last 20-24 years (I’m not sure when exactly we saw it, just that I was in high school) any time Stargate has come up or we’re playing a board game and there are curses, we’ll look at each other, hold our fists in front of our faces, and say, “curses!”

I’ve looked for the interview several times over the years and have never successfully found it. Im hoping there’s maybe some Stargate fan out there that happens to know this video, because otherwise I have no idea. 😆 thanks!

My anniversary ring

My husband and I went to New Orleans for our anniversary several years ago and decided to go to a jewelry store his dad loved to go to before he died. My husband found this ring while I was looking around and surprised me for our anniversary!

I don’t know the specific specs, but we were told it’s from the early 1900s. Sapphire and gold.

I get lots of compliments on it and thought you all would appreciate it too!

Please ignore my terrible paint job on my nails 😆

Random adhd thought that won’t leave my head. Good or bad idea?

My 15th wedding anniversary is coming up toward the end of this year. Most of the time my husband and I are pretty low-key. We try to show our love to each other every day, so holidays and anniversaries are celebrated in smaller ways: going out to eat, hanging out with family, that kind of thing. However, when we were younger, we loved the thought of having fancy dress dinners or silly hat parties. We haven’t done anything like that in a long time, though.

I had a random adhd thought the other day and it’s been circling my brain. A party with friends and family where everyone can dress fancy to whatever extent they want and married women are encouraged to wear their wedding dress. We spend all this time and money to get our perfect dress that we only wear for one day. My thought is that a lot of women would love to have an occasion to wear it again, but I also wouldn’t want to be the only one wearing one on the day of 😬

My initial thoughts are that some women would like the chance to wear their dress again, but a lot of people may not want to get fancy, so it would end up being a small group of women in wedding dresses in a crowd of normally dressed people. I also wouldn’t want to make anyone feel bad if they’ve never been married and don’t have a wedding dress to wear. Also, we don’t have a lot of disposable income, so we probably wouldn’t go all out with like, catering or an expensive venue. Our anniversary is in October, so maybe like, a park or something? Idk, we would have to brainstorm that if this isn’t a stupid idea, lol.

Anyway. Thoughts? Constructive criticism is accepted. TIA!

A song from my favorite band for anyone who needs it

Motion City Soundtrack is my favorite band of all time. I’m sitting here listening to them, and this song came on and it’s so perfect for all of us here I couldn’t help but share it.

Motion City Soundtrack
It’s a Pleasure to Meet You
____________________________

You are not alone
We’ve all had our battles with darkness and shadows
I’m here to let you know
It’s a pleasure to meet you

Can you feel it
Disappearing
It’ll happen, you are not alone
I have been there, hell I’m still there
Oh, and better, everything is so
Damn tragic
Time erodes the waves
Of panic
Take it in

You are not alone
We’ve all had our battles with darkness and shadows
I’m here to let you know
It’s a pleasure to meet you
Today is all we have
So try for a moment to break from the torment
And sing this to yourself
It’s a pleasure to meet you

At a distance
There’s a difference
Things will make sense
You are not alone
Got to hold on
For the moment
Til the next one
Everything is so
Damn tragic
Time erodes the waves
Of panic
Get up

You are not alone
We’ve all had our battles with darkness and shadows
I’m here to let you know
It’s a pleasure to meet you
Today is all we have
So try for a moment and break from the torment
And sing this to yourself
It’s a pleasure to meet you

Every damn night for years of my life
I’ve spent driving around this miserable city
Just looking through windows at people alone
For an answer or reason to live
But every day since, I’ve been peeling away
At this counterfeit skin that just got in the way
I can see my reflection and clearly can say
It’s a pleasure to meet you again

You are not alone
We’ve all had our battles with darkness and shadows
I’m here to let you know
It’s a pleasure to meet you
Today is all we have
So try for a moment to break from the torment
And sing this to yourself
It’s a pleasure to meet you

It’s a pleasure to meet you
It’s a pleasure to meet you

Thought someone here might love these as much as I do

I’ve found people either love them or hate them. What do you think?

Did anyone else have one of these?!

I found this sub not too long ago and ever since, I’ve been thinking about this Polly Pocket thing I used to have. Finally looked it up today and it was a vanity! It was by far my favorite.

Perimenopause

Idk if this is tagged right, this may just be a rant. I’m just so exhausted. For the last 2.5 years I’ve been having pretty severe issues with anxiety and panic attacks, loss of appetite, (what I thought was) heat sensitivity, and more. I just found out about a month and a half ago that it’s perimenopause. I’m 37! And apparently have been in perimenopause since I was 35.

I also have N1 and ADHD. I feel like I’m going crazy. The brain fog is insane and I’m sleeping 12-15 hours a day WITH my narcolepsy meds.

My obgyn put me on progesterone and I’m on anxiety meds now, but the EDS is killing me. I’ve burned through all of my PTO in the last year because of all of this and I’m struggling real hard to wake up in the morning for work.

Anyone have any advice or just want to commiserate? I’m so tired of people just telling me it gets worse.

My dinosaur tattoo! It’s old and needs a touch up, but I like her.

Artist: Nikki Needles

Location: Tennessee (she has since moved to California)

I got this tattoo about 17 years ago now. I am not great about using sunscreen, so she’s pretty faded, but I still get a kick out of her!

It’s a dinosaur eating a school bus that has been kabobbed on a telephone pole.

▲ 20 r/sticker

I’m in my 30s and I’ve had this literally since I can remember.

I thought you all might appreciate this. I’ve always loved stickers, and I guess my parents got tired of me sticking them all over the place, so they made me this “book”. I’ve had it as long as I can remember. A lot of it is terrible, since it was filled up by the time I was 10, but there are some classics in there!
