Outlook Classic for Windows: Can’t get my school account (Gmail) added to outlook.
My new school uses a gmail system gated by a MyU web portal. Both trying to use the mail settings in my computer and File —> add account in outlook have failed for me.
When going through outlook classic I went to add account then typed in the username and pressed connect. It then took me to “advanced setup” where if I click google it takes me to an IMAP loader
I then googled what to put in the boxes put:
Incoming mail
Server: imap.gmail.com
Port: 993
Encryption method: SSL/TLS
Outgoing mail
Server: smtp.gmail.com
Port: 587
Encryption method: STARTTLS
Left the boxes unchecked.
It then opened up my portal in chrome where it seemed to sign in for a second (outlook said it connected) before my window online said localhost refused to connect and my outlook said google- IMAP couldn’t sign in.
any ideas on how to fix this? Additionally this is the first time I’ve ever had to do a manual configuration am I doing something wrong to not have the ask auto configure?
