Britney Spears Vacation Timeline (Conservatorship Era, 2008-2021)

2008

May 2008: Costa Rica (Mel Gibson's ranch, Samara). Britney and her father Jamie flew by private plane to stay with Gibson and his wife Robyn at his ranch in the Pacific coast resort town of Samara. Paparazzi shot her sunbathing, swimming, and riding a quad bike on Barrigona beach, plus boogie-boarding and golf-cart riding in string bikinis. Her sons couldn't come because custody terms barred them from leaving the country without special approval. Jason Trawick was on the trip and was photographed in the ocean and on ATVs with her.

2009

Spring 2009: Miami. During a three-day break from the Circus tour she was papped texting and playing with her sons at a hotel pool. On the same trip she visited kids at Miami Children's Hospital.

2010

August 2010: Maui (with Jason Trawick). They stayed in a luxury suite at a Wailea resort. Paps and onlookers caught them kissing and frolicking on the beach while her sons stayed back in L.A. with Jamie and Lynne. She was also photographed shopping in Maui and waving to fans from her balcony.

December 2010: Mexico. She and Trawick escaped to Mexico for her 29th birthday.

2011

No standalone leisure trip is well documented. This was the Femme Fatale tour year, and Trawick accompanied her on tour. A London Halloween stop with Lynne and the boys happened during the tour.

2012

July 2012: Hawaii (4th of July, family trip). She, Trawick, and both sons were snapped on a five-star Fourth of July vacation. She tweeted a family photo captioned "Happy 4th of July from the Aloha State!"

Late 2011/2012: San Francisco. She and Trawick stayed in the Extreme-Wow suite at the W, aiming for a low-key secret getaway, but were spotted shopping at the Westfield Centre. The trip doubled as a business meeting with a beauty startup.

2013-2014

The documentation gap. After the Trawick split in January 2013, she dated David Lucado for about a year. This stretch, which covered Britney Jean promo and the launch of the Vegas residency, produced beach-day pap sets around L.A. but no clearly reported destination vacations. If trips happened, they weren't covered as such.

2015

July 2015: Hawaii (with sons). Papped July 24 doing a split on the beach. She posted bikini photos and video cheering her sons on in the waves. August 2015 also brought poolside photos with the boys, though that appears to have been at home rather than a trip.

2016

August 2016: Kauai (with sons). Papped shopping in Kauai on August 7 in vacation-casual clothes. She and the boys made a highlights video showing boat diving and Hawaiian shave ice, and she posted a topless "still dreaming" photo afterward, having worn a white bikini during the trip itself.

2017

April 2017: Hawaii (with Lynne and sons). Right before the final run of Piece of Me, she posted a 43-second highlights video: coffee with the boys, road-trip footage, beach shots, and bikini pics ending with her lying in the surf. The boys played in the waves while Britney and Lynne sunbathed.

2018

Mostly a work-travel year. The Piece of Me world tour ran through summer and fall, and no distinct leisure vacation with pap coverage is documented.

2019

The pivotal year: canceled Domination residency, mental-health facility stay, and the start of #FreeBritney.

Early June 2019: Miami (with Sam Asghari). Beach vacation with Sam, covered heavily with bikini photos.

Mid/late June 2019: Turks and Caicos (with mom Lynne). Mother-daughter trip. She posted bikini beach photos and swimming videos, went snorkeling, biked to the beach, and did running handstands, with eyewitnesses describing her as giddy and relaxed.

October 2019: Maui (solo "me time"). She shared a photo sitting in a tree on the beach, writing that nothing heals more than the ocean, during a break following custody and conservatorship hearings and her father's health scare.

2020

Mid-2020: tropical beach trip (location unspecified, likely Hawaii). At 38 she posted video in a yellow bikini and wide-brimmed hat on a beach, along with photos heading to church and admiring Hawaiian wildlife. Pandemic-era, so pap coverage was thin.

November 2020: Hawaii (early 40th birthday trip with Sam). On Nov 16 she jetted off for an early birthday retreat, posting a photo with Sam in front of a private jet, both in surgical masks.

2021

The endgame.

Late June 2021: Maui, days after her June 23 testimony. She and Sam took a private jet the Thursday after the hearing. TMZ pap photos showed her in a bikini sipping beer on the resort property. In her testimony she'd said she had been threatened with having Maui vacations denied if she didn't comply with therapy. Sources said the couple returned to a resort they love where staff know her as one of their kindest guests. The pap swarm prompted her "dos and don'ts" video complaining "the paps know where I am and it's really not fun," and photographers caught her delighted encounter with a potbellied pig. The trip continued from Maui to a second location.

July 2021: "Maui part 2." She posted a video captioned "Well damn … I did it again !!!! Maui part 2," saying she was driving "the cheapest car known to mankind" and loved hearing the ocean and laughter from her balcony.

Mid-2021: private island (unnamed). She posted a photo posing on a runway in front of a helicopter captioned "Arriving on a private island," complaining it was "waaaayyy too hot."

Her own June 2021 testimony said she'd been threatened with having her Maui vacations denied if she didn't comply with therapy. If trips were being rationed as a compliance reward, then a strict one-a-year cadence for most of the conservatorship wouldn't be her choice or her lie- it would be the allowance. The documented pattern fits that almost eerily well: one Hawaii trip in 2015, one in 2016, one in 2017, none clearly in 2018, and then the floodgates open in 2019 (Miami, Turks and Caicos, AND Maui in one year) right as the conservatorship started losing its grip, followed by the 2021 double-dip once she'd testified.

Oh, and she stayed at the Four Seasons in Hawaii. Where they filmed White Lotus. So it's extremely luxury.
