I was gifted a projector for my table but don’t want to use it for maps. How can I use it for ambience?

I make a lot of my terrain and like to use remote control LED lights for color effects and stuff. One of my players gifted me a little projector (which is awesome) but I really don’t care for projected maps since I really like to use minis and terrain and the projector washes all of that out. What I was thinking instead was to use it almost like another light with effects. Has anyone done this? I was thinking something with rain and flashes of lightning. Any ideas?

How do you keep track of all of your customer's needs?

I'm a relatively new SE who came from being on the operations side. I'm still trying to learn how to keep track of all of my customers and their action items. I have ADHD so this has always been a struggle for me, but now it's starting to get in the way of things and I want to get it figured out. I've thought about using Cursor to keep track of my notes but I'm not sure of an easy way to do this or what kind of apps I can link it with. I'm curious to know what kind of methods or tools you all are using to keep track of notes for your customers.

Is it possible to play a multiplayer game with another Steam Deck without an internet connection?

I'm going to be camping this weekend with a friend who has a Steam Deck. I thought it could be fun to play something over wireless LAN, if possible. We won't have Starlink or anything like that. Is it possible to play games on multiplayer while off the grid like this?

Running and open water swimming in the same workout?

I apologize if this is a total newbie question, but does anyone do this kind of workout here where you run to a lake or ocean and then quickly drop into your swimsuit to swim across a lake and finish running back? I live close to a lake and I like to run around it, but I don't usually swim it. I used to drive and then open water swim in it but I think it would be awesome if I could do both in the same workout. I don't need a wetsuit to swim but I would like to get a buoy/drybag so I could carry my small essentials and not worry about stuff getting stolen while I'm in the water.

If you do something like this, how do you do it? What do you wear?

Can we stop with all the dog adoption posts??

Can someone make a separate sub where we can redirect all of the dog adoption posts? It feels like these get posted multiple times a day now and it's tiring.

Does anyone here exclusively play their MMORPG on the Steam Deck?

If so, which game are you playing on it? I’m thinking about trying FFXIV on it but I think it might require some tuning to get the controls right.

Looking for grass to match this grass mat

First of all, I can’t believe it, but I was able to find a 100”x50” grass mat. I’ve been looking for something like this to use for Bolt Action and Black Powder for a long time. Usually I use a big roll of felt for this, which is nice because I can slide books and things underneath the felt to make easy hills. However, now I need to make hills that work for my new mat. I have a static grass applicator but I don’t think static grass will look good with this. What kind of grass is out there that would match this? Bonus points if I can buy it on Amazon.

How do defend Napleon against people who think he was "just another Fascist?"

I should preface this by saying that I'm not an expert by any means in Napoleon's history. I would like to know how some of you defend Napoleon from the people who look at him as a blood thirsty conqueror and nothing else?

My current defense, which is weak, is to say that he was brilliant at what he did, which was to use his military tactics and strategy to build France into the leading superpower. Everyone else at that time would have done the exact same thing for their own country but they didn't have the same level of genius that he did so they couldn't pull it off.

What's you defense?

Are there any photos of live combat/battles?

I know the Civil War was one of the first conflicts to have actual photos of the battlefields and stuff, but are there any photos of the battles, as they occurred? I can't seem to find any. Only the aftermath.

Holdfast is my new favorite multiplayer experience on the Steam Deck

First of all, this game is optimized so well. It runs smooth as butter and the graphics look like they do on my high end PC. But the online community is hilarious so it makes for a great time just chilling on the couch and laughing it up with some strangers from across the world. I highly recommend it. Plus, the devs are awesome and continue to push out content and updates.

When tf are we gonna get a ACW update?

I love the idea of having a big complex wargame to play mobile on the couch, but I don't know which ones would actually function well enough on the Deck. And I'm talking, playing with the controller or trackpads, not on a mouse and keyboard. Any ideas?

Looking for a game that can be played in 2 hours or less with a group of 3

I’m relatively inexperienced with hex and counter games. The only one that I have a bit of experience with that might count is Tide of Iron, but I’m wanting to expand. Are there any games that can be played relatively quickly in a single evening? Especially with a group of 3 players?

Basically title. I think it would be cool to know how to make Sacramento's signature cocktail, if it exists. If there was a drink that had some kind of historical significance to the region, please share!

I didn't start drinking until a couple years ago but I still only do it very rarely. Maybe a drink every other month and that includes a glass of wine or a beer or something. I wanna make something at home this weekend but I'm looking for ideas. So far, of all the things that I've tried, my favorites are an Old Fashioned, daiquiris, margaritas (classic, not blended), and tiki drinks. I especially like rum and I've learned that I really don't care much for gin.

All that being said, what are some of your favorite cocktails that you'd recommend to someone like me?
