Good places around North Van to practice parallel parking?

I've had my licence a few years now, but ngl I've just been avoiding parallel parking lol... Have some free time next month so thinking I'll spend a few hours a week just practicing until I have it.

Where's good to practice that has vehicles parked on the street but that I won't keep holding people up?

Is auto resolve for naval battles just completely boofed?

I was attacking a single fuckin brig with just over a half stack of mainly 4th rates with a couple of 3rd rates, a 2nd rate, and an Admiral flagship (I think 3rd rate).

I saved first and auto resolved thinking it should be no problem... It will not resolve without me losing at least 3 ships. What the hell?

Obviously I just played it and easily won with no damage, but man the naval battles are tedious. Really would prefer to be able to auto resolve them.

Peaceful faction has just parked a trade ship in the English Channel and now it's blocked. They haven't moved for like 5 turns. Do I have to declare war?

Playing as England and I've got my own strait of Hormuz shit going down... It's Spain blocking the channel and they have been trade partners for ages. I also only recently made peace with France so didn't want another war yet, but it really doesn't seem like they are gonna move.

Anything else I can do?

A bit sceptical of mechanic after a recent visit, will break down the timeline / work below. You think this is normal?

I recently was told that both rear trailing arms need replacing on my vehicle, which fine if they do they do... The reason I'm sceptical is that I don't understand how this wouldn't have been noticed before.

The same mechanic (actual same guy, not just the same shop) replaced both rear shocks and brake rotors/pads less than 2 months ago. The vehicle hasn't done many miles since. Wouldn't he have noticed the trailing arms then?

Also in the time from the shocks being replaced to now, I've had a complete new set of tires fitted and had an alignment (not at the same shop). Less concerned about that but they said nothing about it either.

I guess what I'm asking is should I be concerned this wasn't noticed during this previous work? Either in the sense that it doesn't need doing as badly as they are saying, or in the sense that it was an oversight that it was missed previously.

Anyone driven the Keithley Creek Rd - 8400 Rd route from Likely to Barkerville recently? Going in a couple of weeks so wondering what conditions are like.

I'm good with general backcountry/ FSR prep stuff. Wondering about road conditions there specifically. Thanks!

Oldest vehicles you've done big road trips in?

Just curious. I'm gearing up for a big road trip at the end of the month, and realised my trusty RAV4 is turning 20 this year. Still runs great but definitely has more trips behind it than ahead you know. Made me a bit sad to think about.

I feel like social media has a lot of the 'newest this, best that' ... So I wanna hear about your trips with trusty old vehicles, or vehicles that wouldn't typically be taken on big adventures.

Wondering if anyone can give me recommendations based on some artists I like. Folk Punk is relatively new to me as it's own thing.

Hopefully these kinds of posts are allowed.

I've been listening to some things that are Folk Punk, but had just been thinking of it as Folk. I've tried exploring the Folk Punk genre but have honestly bounced off a lot of the big names. Will break down some artists I like in related genres below. Any recs are appreciated!

Folk Punk: Really like Crisis Crew's 'Disenfranchised Youth' album. Enjoy Jesse Stewart's 'Shed Life' Album. I've been liking Slim Krusty, Ezra Bell, & some King Lazy Eye stuff too.

Folk: super into Joe DeVito's 'Me, Joe I Am' EP. Nora Brown's 'Sidetrack my Engine' album is great. I like Paper Wings, Esther Rose, Erin Rae, Charlie Crockett, Jamison Hastings, some Sam Shackleton as well.

Punk: pretty standard, I like Bad Brains, Backtrack, Minor Threat, Turnstile, GG Alin, Agnostic Front... You probably get the idea.

Jesmond Forestry Lookout from Pavilion - Clinton Rd & Jesmond Rd. Looking for advice from anyone who did this relatively recently.

I'm planning a road trip and have decided to take the Pavilion - Clinton Rd between (shockingly) Pavilion & Clinton. Thinking it will break up the long Highway sections a bit.

I'm kicking the tires on the idea of checking out Jesmond Forestry Lookout. If any of you have done this I'd like your experiences and advice!

From my reading, it doesn't seem my vehicle would be very happy driving all the way to the top (it's just a RAV4). It's 4WD and I do have good all-terrain tires and some pretty rough service road experience, but I'm far from a serious overlander/offroader.

I'm reading you can drive some of the way and hike the rest, but struggling to find info about where you park and how long the hike is.

I will be leaving from Mt. Currie early in the morning and spending the night in Quesnel, so if the hike is going to be 4+ hours it starts being not very sensible with timing. If the hike is just difficult that is fine. Thanks!

I'm replacing these tomorrow anyway because I got a bad puncture, but would you have replaced these anyway?

I was probably going to do it anyway because I will be putting a load of miles on the car over summer, including some remote parts of BC where a breakdown would be bad.

Would you have been waiting to get more life out of these or changing them?

I saw some creature when driving, don't know what it was and don't have a picture. Let's see if anyone can tell me what it was from my bad description.

It was like a really long squirrel. It was too big to actually be a squirrel and it was a red colour (like red squirrels). It had a big head and really long body. Ran out on front of me on Hwy 99 between Lillooet & Pemberton

Looking at the Garmin InReach Mini for peace of mind on FSRs with no cell service. Anyone have these or potentially know of a cheaper alternative?

I will be doing a lot of trips out on forest service roads with no service this year. I've got various navigation tools but think I'd feel better with some kind of satellite communicator for an emergency.

Garmin InReach seems to be the industry standard, looking for either reviews or alternatives. Cheers!
