Heavy Frigate Fortuna: extended captain's quarters completed

Completed the stern modification to get 2 more stud length in captain's quarters, as well as add a 3rd side window and reduce the angle of the stern transom. This is in addition to the 4 stud width increase for the whole ship, so the captain went from cosplaying a backpacker in a hostel to a proper quarters.

Next plan is to further increase the bow section by 2 stud length.

Heavy Frigate Fortuna: extended captain's quarters length

I just said yesterday I was going to figure out how to lengthen the captain's quarters and add a third side window, but I had some time, so here it is. Ignore the placeholder pieces at the bottom. Those will be replaced with black tiles.

Still need to figure out the little gap to the main side. Probably use an angled 1x1 with a tile.

Heavy Frigate Fortuna update

Obviously not fully done, but felt the urge to post an update, as it's getting quite close to completion of phase 1. This is 12 studs longer and 4 wider, with the QD 6 longer and forecastle 2. I originally intended to also extend the stern transom length by 2 (additional side window) with less angle, but decided to push that to a phase two. I may also make more tweaks to the bow to make it longer, but need to complete the currently-planned lower bow first to see what it looks like.

I might ultimately end up making it even longer. I expanded the width by 4 instead of 3 due to complexity, but 4 does make it seem a bit fat at this length.

Question from noob using Griot's Ceramic 3in1

Two questions for you all:

  1. Is it best to dampen the "wet" (spreading/applying) towel instead of applying directly on the car?

  2. When it comes to using the dry towel, how much pressure should one apply?

Feedback on designs for "heavy frigate" Fortuna

Will be 4 wider and 12-14 longer. Looking for feedback on these designs. Topgallant seems a bit fragile but can't think of a better option for the desired length

In order:

Stern transom (I also intend a 3rd side window and removal of the hull-side wedge to remove side window angle and have transom less angled.

Main sail

Top sail

Topgallant

Spritsail

Mizzen

Shroud extensions (used in various combinations)

Anyone have thoughts or a better idea for extending shrouds?

I'm mapping out my planned "heavy frigate" Fortuna and will need to lengthen the shroud lines. Of the ones I've come up with, this is my favorite. Curious if anyone has a better idea to mimic what this section really looks like (Pic 2).

Best option to "clean up" old but unoxidized taillights?

Whats the best option for cleaning up stuff like these light scuffs/scratches on old tail lights? Meguiars PlastX or Griots Plastic All-in-one? Something else? Thanks!

Carronade design

Trying to design a carronade for quarterdeck of my Fortuna. I'm too dumb to know how to rotate it slightly, but the front bottom is 20482 tile with bar and it would then partially connect at the back to the deck.

Thoughts? Suggestions for improvement?

Edit: realized this wouldn't work. Revised version would have a 2x2 jumper under the wedge.

Resistor as brake reduction for Power Wheels

A popular mod for Power Wheels that have been upgraded to use 18v tool batteries is a 5ohm 25w resistor on a specific wire coming out of the accelerator pedal (brake resistor). This takes it from a sudden lock up of the drive wheels to a gradual slowing. However, it's too gradual for my liking. If I wanted to have it brake faster, would I use a 2.5ohm 25w?

Swapping my 01 Cobra to clean 01+ GT dhell

My 01 Cobra body is pretty crusty and I'm looking to swap it to a clean 01+ manual GT shell. For those who have knowledge of this, what all do I need to swap over besides the engine, drivetrain, and suspension?

My list so far:

PCM + cluster (and ignition cylinder?)

Engine harness (does this require PCM -> firewall portion?)

ABS module

rear brake hard & flex lines

E-brake cable

Throttle cable
