Do you think the social housing system is fit for purpose?

Welcome to hear more thoughts from people who know better than myself.

Do you think the social housing system here is fit for purpose?

Besides the obvious lack of housing, it seems to me the criteria to be eligible is difficult to understand

For example I know a couple mid 40’s who have been on the housing list for 10 years. Getting offered more places lately they can express interest in.

They don’t have any young kids, no disability or other factors. One works full time one works part time by choice the last 10 years.

Just seems bizarre to me they are eligible?

Am I missing something

What do you do with your old parts?

What do you generally do with your old parts that aren’t worth much anymore?

I have a 7th gen i5 and mobo, and a 1050ti sitting around. Probably not even worth selling. Any suggestions on what I could use them for?

What monitor should I buy?

Need to get a new monitor,

Should I get 1440p or stick with 1080p for my current system?

Ryzen 5600 and 3060ti.

I don’t play competitively, mostly open world games.

1080p might match a 3060ti better, but 1440p seems like a better long term purchase if I was to upgrade gpu in 2-3 years?
Fine with upscaling ect

Also don’t want to spend a huge amount right now

How risky is buying a used GPU here?

Trying to get back into gaming after falling out of it for a long time after a bad spell of mental health.

Unfortunately my old system is 10 years old and not good for much.

Seen a couple 3060ti for around €250 for sale on marketplace and seems like a decent deal for what I would be doing,

Do you’ve much experience building used gpu’s in Ireland, is it risky?

How much coal/solid fuel for winter? Heating advice

Live in a 70’s house that uses an old Stanley range for heating the radiators and hot water.

I have a bit of turf but I know it will be nowhere near enough compared to previous years. Probably 1/3rd of what normally would be used

Trying to decide if I should buy 1 ton of coal, or if it would be a better idea to buy 2 ton.

What’s your thoughts on dust filtration?

I know dust filters aren’t that common on the smaller side of pc cases as they restrict airflow and are bad for temps.

But as someone who lives in an old dusty house and uses their pc in a room that has a fireplace I’ve always found dust filters to be a useful feature to have.

Do you prefer maximum airflow or dust filtration?

What’s your favourite case that has dust filtration if so?

Favourite games that aren’t roguelike/roguelite or card games?

I feel these kinda games dominate conversation when recommended for the steam deck, and for good reason they suit the handheld format well,

But they aren’t my favourite style of games.

So what’s your favourite games for steam deck?

Some of mine are kingdom come deliverance, Stardew valley, Rimworld, Timberborn

Those who are no long getting the machine, what’s your plan now?

Obviously news of the steam machine has been all over the place, between the preformance or availability I’m sure a lot of people will be trying to come up with a backup plan.

Will you just stream from an existing device you have, build a pc and compromise on sound/size ect

Would you buy a current gen Apple TV 4k in June 2026?

My current TV’s interface is becoming increasingly annoying. An Apple TV sounds like it would be a good alternative, but I’m unsure would it be foolish to buy an Apple TV 4K now given how long that product has been on the market

Anyone else have the issue with crypts taking over the tank?

Every few weeks I’m pulling out handfuls of crypts. Originally only had a couple of plants

TCL C7K or LG B5 oled for gaming?

Looking to upgrade my TV soon and these 2 seems to be a similar price

Anyone any experience with these TVs?

Seem to come in around the same?

I know the oled will have better blacks, and the tcl should have much better peak brightness, but what else should I think about?

TCL C7K or LG B5 oled for gaming

Which of these 2 TV’s would you buy, priced similarly.

Mostly be used for casual streaming of tv shows and playing single player open world games

My Medaka are struggling and I can’t figure it out

In February I got 6 medaka. A few weeks after that 1 passed. I was worried it was parasite related so I treated their tank with anti parasite medicine 2x times.

Remaining 5 seemed okay until recently but have lost 2 in the last couple of weeks fairly unexpectedly started to waste away and wobble even with spot feeding

They were spawning only a couple weeks before

My water parameters seem fine.

Am I just unlucky or could I be missing something?

They are in a very heavily planted 100l tank at 24 degrees, reasonably hard water very little nitrates ect.
