There's something about how blankets fall when you're doing that "hold one side of a blanket and throw it out flat over a bed or sofa" that changes. I've been making my bed for years with a folded fleece blanket at the foot for years, and over the last few days the far end has been flipping back almost halfway, leaving it more than 1/3 folded. This is new; for years I've been tossing it from one side of the bed to the other and it falls flat every time, but lately the "tail" has been flipping back rather than lying flat.
