My startup has grossed ~$1000 in revenue ☺️

I launched my startup 2.5 months ago and the gross revenue has reached $950 now. All of this happened while I wasn't paying attention to it after the launch 😭 which is just insane.

SaaS name: InsightsOnAncestry

I'm not sure what I did right, honestly. I never ran ads or did any big launch push so I'm guessing it's just people searching and finding it. $950 isn't a lot, I know but it's real money while most founders keep building features while having no users.

My SaaS is showing promising potential

I'm a month in and the gross revenue has reached $500+ without doing any paid marketing. This was all achieved organically.

This whole journey has taught me so much. The biggest learning for me is that code is simply a commodity as I built my entire infrastructure using Claude's Opus class models. Doing it myself or hiring someone would've costed so much both in terms of money and time. The next step is probably to go forward with building my distribution.

Posting all this to motivate y'all to get past ideating and start building! 🔥

Roast my resume. Is it strong or weak?

A bit of context: I launched my SaaS recently and it's running on auto-pilot right now. I'll be graduating next year and looking to apply for jobs. So I'm looking for a neutral perspective on my resume.

15 paid users in 12 days without any marketing

I had posted about my D2C SaaS getting it’s first two paid users and it’s booming! I know it’s too early to post again but I’m too excited about how it’s going and I’m always scrolling this sub so yeah. By the way I’ve paid $0 on marketing so far, it’s all good ol’ organic word of mouth. Actually, total paid users are 19 and currently active monthly subscribers 15 (4 of them cancelled 😔).

Anybody who has an idea and a tech background, can just build it today without spending thousands of $ on it. Just do it!

A brief overview of what it offers:
It lets users use my AWS infra and pipelines to run statistical genetics tools developed by Harvard and other researchers, on their raw DNA files.

I've launched a SaaS for personal genomics

Hey! A fellow founder here. I've launched a SaaS for personal genomics. It runs academic-grade statistical genetics tools on the raw files given to users by companies like 23andme, AncestryDNA, LivingDNA, FTDNA, etc.

It solves the manual compiling of software packages and manipulating hefty Harvard ancient DNA datasets (up to 12GBs) on local PCs by doing all of that processing on cloud and providing a GUI for the layman. I've got 9 active paying users and they've also bought extra credits, resulting in $96 MRR and $1.2k ARR. Achieved all of this in the last 6 days. It's pretty hard to market, but I'm not giving up!

Any suggestions would be apprecited.

Rotating qpAdm for Kamboj and some more pops

Saw a post recently and decided to model the publicly available Kamboj samples from Pathak et al 2018. Models pass only with a non-zero % of Turkic for some reason. This translates to about 25-30% Steppe_MLBA, 19% AASI/SAHG, ~52% Central_Asia_C-related or Indus Farmer related and 0-1% Turkic (not confident about this).

Software: AdmixTools

I've also made available all of the public South Asian samples on https://ioancestry.com/ to test and use them for modelling your sample.

Edit: In v66 dataset, the label for Srubnaya Alakul was changed to Bashkortostan

Made an affordable tool for running qpAdm and rotation

I've been running these tools for almost half a decade now, and to make them accessible to everyone I created InsightsOnAncestry, a cloud-based platform that lets you run qpAdm, rotation (up to 1600 models in one go), and Fst (genetic distance). I'll be adding more tools going forward. Both legacy Reich Lab AdmixTools and ADMIXTOOLS2 are supported, you can choose either one.

Rotation is something that's not available on any other platform. I've implemented it for both AdmixTools packages, and with ADMIXTOOLS2 it can run up to 1600 rotating models in under 5 minutes. Legacy AdmixTools is cheaper and takes longer, but it's still the most reliable one. Another advantage is the availability of all public academic South Asian samples (N=1094), such as Paniya, Kurumba, etc., for modelling South Asians (not available on IllustrativeDNA, Genoplot, etc.). Check slide 4!

There are some other advantages too: you can share your exact model configuration with others using a unique code, which is really seamless. Multiple dataset panels are available: Harvard AADR 2M, 1240K, and Human Origins.

You only need to pay for the server costs of computing your analyses. The prices are very fair and usage limits are generous.
$5.99 plan: 5 file uploads, and hundreds of models and rotations.
$10.99 plan: unlimited file uploads, download 23andme format of your file and more analyses.

I hope this helps y'all and with this you don't need to share your file with anyone, and you have full control over your analysis.

Give it a try on https://ioancestry.com/

Made a browser tool for running qpAdm/rotation/FST on your own raw DNA

Running an admixture model using formal genetics tools is quite painstaking with compiling software packages, downloading datasets and merging your raw files to it. Ended up just building a site that does it for you - upload your raw file, pick your pops, run qpAdm/FST/rotation right in the browser. Rotation's (automatic model ranker) the one I actually use most, it tests hundreds/thousands of source combos and ranks them by fit instead of me manually trying model after model. Panels are Harvard AADR 1240K, HO, 2M, and a South Asia one I put together myself. Both ADMIXTOOLS2 and the original AdmixTools are on there too. It also has a "Guided Analysis" section which has a list of curated models for various ethnic groups that you can directly import if you're not familiar with historical migrations.

It's mine and it's paid, not hiding that. But it's pay-per-run not a flat sub, and failed runs don't cost you anything. $5.99/mo covers like 213 ADMIXTOOLS2 runs or 58 legacy AdmixTools runs so it's not gonna add up fast unless you're really hammering it.

Anyway link's here if anyone wants to try it: https://ioancestry.com/

Got my first 2 paid users today!

I launched my SaaS startup today. It's a personal genomics tool for ancestry and genetics analysis using open source tools made by researchers. Took me around 4 months to build it. Just got my first two paid users and I'm really happy about it.

Copped a pair of Asics Skyhand OG

After eyeing them for a week, they (UK 9) came back in stock on Nykaa Man for 6k. I bought them immediately, this colourway is too good 🤌🏼

Don't buy this set of side printed backlit keycaps from Curiosity Caps

I bought an Ajazz AK820 Max Plus last week but wanted backlit keycaps and found Curiosity Caps being mentioned frequently on this subreddit. So went with this set as it had both top print and side print, with only the latter being backlit (mentioned explicitly on the product page). Apparently that was not the case, the top print does let some light through (check 2nd image slide) and the side print is of pretty low quality and doesn't let adequate light pass through. I did not want a dual legend backlit keycap set and I got exactly that. They also sound worse than the stock keycaps. This set cost me ₹1.79k which is almost half the price of the keyboard itself.

The website's owner is clearly ripping customers off by selling this mediocre product. I should've just gone with the Aula gradient side printed backlit set for 1.2k instead of this no-name set of keycaps. I'll just suggest avoiding this website completely. Wonder how much the website owner actually paid for these lol, prolly not more than ₹1k. A set of keycaps almost half the price of the keyboard just shouldn't be this much worse than the stock keycaps lmfao.

Edit: The website owner has been cooperative with the return/refund as I have mentioned in multiple comments prior to this edit. That shows there’s nothing wrong with the intention of this post and the seller is actually a good person unlike what I said about him wanting to rip people off, it’s just a justified reaction for receiving a cheap product which isn’t even true to it’s description. I’m sorry but that’s how anyone would react if y’all saw what I received lol. This was a pure “buying Adidas and receiving Adibas” situation. There are 1000s of posts in which the store gets flak for selling bad products. This is just another one of them, don’t think any more of it. I just wanted to make sure what happened with me doesn’t happen with someone else. I wasn’t even into MKs until last month. I bought both the keyboard and keycaps after going through this subreddit.
