Hi all! I am a Georgia native who plans on moving to Vermont in the late spring, or possibly sooner. I'm lucky to have a job I can do remotely, so I have employment nailed down. Anyway, I am looking for some short-term rentals that allow pets, specifically a cat. I'm worried that my credit won't be good enough for an apartment, so that is why I am asking. I have been really interested in nursing for years and have recently hit my mid-40s. I'd love to go back to school, but I am worried that I'm too old. I have some issues with my back and knees, but they are mostly related to my weight, so once I get the weight off, I'm sure I'd be fine. Should I consider going back to school? I already have a bachelor's degree in finance, but I loathe my job. I do call center work of all things and want to do something that isn't just taking back-to-back calls all day.
It mostly happens with older callers. I try to get information out of them between the constant irrelevant stories, and the call goes on FOREVER. My call earlier was just like this:
Me: Are there any other drivers in the house- ?"
Customer: SO my brother-in-law had cancer 5 years ago, and then he ended up moving to
Me: Oh wow, how interesting! Now, what is the date of birth for --?
Customer: And he also played football in college. Did you know that? My sister went to...
Me: That's great. Now if I could just get that date of bir---
Customer (more random babbling)
Currently pulling my hair out. I wanted to scream. Not only did he keep interrupting like that, but when I would give him information, I had to repeat it 20 times in a row. I wanted to say, "If you would shut the F*** up, this call could be over in 5 minutes. It's now been 36 minutes."
I was also told 99 times that he is 79 years old

I'm sitting here at my desk sobbing. I am blessed to work for a good company, I work from home, and the money is...okay. However, I just can't take the constant b2b calls and people screaming at me all the time. I've come very close to taking my life, but I couldn't do that to my parents. I'm so lonely and I wish I could do anything other than taking calls, but I'm at a point where I can't stand long enough to have a non-desk job. This economy sucks too so there is nothing but call center jobs out there.

Boomer from Texas comes on and refuses to verify his full birth date. I ask for another form of verification and he immediately gets nasty and starts cursing. I give him his first warning and he gets even angrier and starts yelling louder.
I ended the call. I am NOT dealing with those type of people today. When they can grow a brain and lose the attitude, I will help. Maybe he needed his damned diaper change. IDK but I am OVER IT.

I will never understand why people decide to wait until their baby is screaming to call us. AND they'll have the child right next to the phone. Unless it's something urgent, can we not wait? Maybe have someone else hold the baby? Put them in their crib for a minute or two while you make the call??? Sorry, had to vent. My right ear is done
My dream is to eventually go part-time. I plan on getting a little place where I can afford to live on a part-time salary. My question is - how does this affect benefits like healthcare or the 401K? I would do my healthcare through the health insurance market but what about other stuff? Would love to hear from others who have gone part-time. I'm getting burnt out fast, and I use my PTO as soon as I earn it. (I'm in services)
I just got off the phone with the nastiest elderly lady in Florida. Thick NY accent and cursing worse than my father does (which is impressive). Normally wouldn't bother me, but we were just letting the dumb bitch know that her policy was going to cancel if she didn't pay by a certain date. I am getting to the point where I tense up if I see a birthdate before 1960. It's ridiculous.
I'm currently in services, but I'm interested in claims. For those who have worked both, which one did you like more? Which one was less stressful?

Second call in and I get a man from NY screeching into the phone. I don't understand why most people from NY/NJ are so mean and hostile. I could be telling one of them that they are getting a refund and they'd still curse me out. I'm about to snap. Just needed to vent.
