Does anyone else find it hard to grow tomatoes in the Seattle area?

Is it just me? The rain, humidity, cooler temperatures, and short growing season. My tomato crop always struggles every year. I used to live in Eastern Washington and Idaho and didnt have this problem.

Edit for clarification: my point is health of plants and productivity as compared to east of the mountains.

Americano Drinkers

I am a creature of habit. I work very early (at work by 4). My routine is to make my americano right before I leave, in my Yeti 16 Oz. I dont drink it until about 3 or 3.5 hours later. I seem to have come accustomed to drinking it right before its lukewarm. I find more flavor and clarity at the almost cold temperature. Problem is replicating this at home. Seems weird to drink out of a to go mug at home. My Acme latte mugs cool off way too quickly and it gets cold. Im looking for a solution. Im thinking my best solution may just be a paper to go cup with a lid. I better start hoarding Starbucks cups.

Side note: I'd like to take a second Americano. I tried a Zojirushi with the fully locking lid. It does great with keeping it hot, but having the sealed lid changes the taste something awful. I wonder why.

Curious how everyone else likes their Americano. Do you like it hot, or cooled down? And what style cup do you use?

Salsa from La Fuente

My family has loved the cabbage salsa from LA Fuente for 25 years. I dont live locally anymore and I would love to be able to make it at home. Can anyone give me the recipe, or at least something close?

How does one try out a Niche Zero or other grinder before purchase.

Alternate title for this post is 'Seattle Coffee Gear sucks.' After telling ths guy I was l really considering buying the Eureka Atom W65 but I wanted to try it out....he let me watch him grind one time into a portafilter. That's it. I couldn't even touch the machine or taste a shot. Meanwhile he talked my ear off and told me that only people with really refined taste could differentiate between a flat and conical burr grinder. I hate that store.

How does someone who is in the market for a grinder try some before purchasing one?

I really want to experience the difference between conical and flat burrs with the exact same bean, one that I'm fond of. One grinder I'm looking at is the Niche Zero but I dont think any retailers stock them.

There needs to be like a rental service or something.

Mahlkonig E64 clearance with BBE portafilter

Can anyone with the Mahlkonig E64 WS verify that the *spouted* Breville Barista Express portafilter *with a dosing funnel* Breville or aftermarket) will correctly fit into the fork assembly for grinding? I know you may need to turn the fork upside down, but I still don't know if it will in fact accommodate a dosing funnel to minimize mess. About to purchase the Mahlkonig but this is my one unknown.

What to look for with purchasing cameras and installation

I want to purchase Tapo outdoor cameras for my home security but I know zilch about the security/wifi router/tech stuff. Can anyone point me to a good article or video about installation and also what to pay attention to or look for? I only need 2 to 3 cameras (1 of which can be plug in to an outlet for power, 1 might be solar).

Need reassurance before getting Mahlkonig e64 WA [$1500]

I know there are other posts and I have looked at many of them. I just need some reassurance. Not currently a light roast fan (although I'd like to try). Need a medium/dark roast grinder but I'm worried because I've read that flat burrs are better for lights - not darks.

The Mahlkonig E64 is one of a few that fits my needs and aesthetic preference. Hate the Sette 270. Wife won't mess with single dosing or weighing beans. But it has flat burrs. Will it perform as well as say a Niche Zero or other popular conical grinders? Any other suggestions? Don't roast me, I just need some reassurance before a big purchase.

Edit: Would the stock burrs be best or what do I look for in upgrades? This aspect is completely new to me.

What do Pico users think? Read this article.

David Schomer posted an article online a while back raving about the Pico.

I'm curious what Pico users actually think. Are you satisfied with it? A lot of people on reddit seem to think it's significantly overpriced and really not that good.

In defense of the Pico

I'm exhausted looking for a grinder to suit my preferences (conical burr for traditional roasts, hopper fed, and good enough where I won't want to upgrade for years to come). I thought I'd found it - the La Marzocco Pico - until I started reading posts on here. Everyone says it's way overpriced and in the realm of a $200 Breville, blah blah blah. Here we go again. Then I stumbled across this article by David Schomer of Vivace Espresso. I haven't been to too many high end Espresso shops, but I have to say Vivace has some of the best coffee I've ever had. They use Picos in the Cafe and he wrote an interesting article saying its basically the best grinder out there. I'd be interested to hear people's thoughts and criticisms.

Iheartradio podcast glitches over bluetooth

I listen daily to podcasts on my iheartradio app via my Samsung Galaxy S26 phone bluetooth onto truck stereo. After around 1 hour in the podcast it will occasionally glitch and skip either forward or backward 10 to 50 seconds. If I hit the rewind 15 seconds button to hear what I missed, it still skips the part I missed. Only when I close the app and re open it does it play the part I missed.

I think its an application problem, not a phone or bluetooth issue as it doesnt do this with my Libby library app. Ive already tried restarting, updating, clearing the cache, deleting app and reinstalling, etc.

Dog Self Wash

I used to take my dog to the self wash at Earthwise Pet by Haggen. Now they've become Groombar or something. Do they still have a self wash - or is there another self wash in the area?

Are you guys doing 12 or 16 oz lattes for your daily pours? And which is easier?

I am having trouble running out of milk before I get my pattern done. Not sure what my issue is yet. Using the Breville Barista Express pitcher and I think its a bit smaller than I realize.
