Have trouble asking for things when it inconveniences others

I have a lot of trouble asking for things if I think it’s going to inconvenience someone else or make things awkward or tense.

For example, I went to the dentist today to get a front tooth fixed that got chipped when I was younger, but the filling fell out. While working on the tooth, the dentist kept making small adjustments (she said her thoughts out loud as she went) and taking awhile, so I thought she was a perfectionist and it was going to look great. I wasn’t expecting when I looked it the mirror for it to look as bad as it did. The tooth was way too long and wide. It looked like a bit of a buck tooth. I had to ask her to make some adjustments and I ended up having to ask her twice because it still didn’t look right after the first time. I could tell she did not want to and seemed embarrassed, but I paid $600 (no insurance) for this one tooth and it’s a front tooth so it’s very visible. Felt so bad because she was so nice.

Earlier, at the front desk, I asked for a small cosmetic procedure on another tooth to be taken off that I didn’t yet agree to on the bill, and she said she would take it off. I paid using a payment plan and I guess it went through before she could adjust the total. She said “I can call them and ask to change it, or do you just want to get the procedure.” She was a nice lady and I don’t think she was trying to pressure anything, just hoping I would want to so she wouldn’t have to do an extra task, but I was sure I didn’t want to get the procedure.

I feel so awkward in these situations so I apologize a lot. I don’t want to appear arrogant. Does anyone else experience that. Is there a better way to respond?

Unconscious people older than you

How can you develop more compassion for unconscious people that are much older than you and not treating you well? When I say unconscious I mean more unconscious than me. I’m not always conscious.

How can I create this pouch?

Hi all. I can’t find a pattern for this kind of pouch from Gap, but I’d love to recreate it. Does anyone know how I could knit it? It says it’s a crochet pouch but I would just knit it in garter stitch.

I never knew the extent of mental illness in my family until I refused the scapegoat role

In adulthood, unfortunately I still live at home due to chronic illness, but I refused the role. I no longer regulate them and the ugliness that they’ve shown when their mask is down is like something from a horror film. The empty dead fish eyes.. nobody is home in there. They have no control over themselves and their actions, and are completely taken over by the animal part of their brain. They’re like one entity that works together to maintain their ego, with no separate identities. It’s so awful and bone-chilling. They try to get you back into the role by scaring you and showing you how dysregulated they are. This is a very deep level of mental illness that has likely existed in the family for generations. I truly feel for everyone who experiences the same…

Died and went to derp heaven today

My local college has a giant derp farm! Everywhere I looked, there were derps. Every time I looked up, there were derps flying overhead. I saw all of these derps in the field fly into one giant bush to sleep😆. Best day🕊️

Worried about the geese at my park

I keep seeing boys disturbing and chasing geese. Just yesterday, I saw one driving through them and chasing them with an electric scooter. Someone could’ve gotten injured and my wildlife rescue doesn’t take geese. I’ve seen multiple geese with leg injuries or missing legs. Also, I get a heart attack when they try to cross the street. People stop, but get impatient and try to drive around them and almost run over them. Lastly, I see people feeding geese bread half the time I’m there, even though you’re not supposed to feed them at all.

I go to the park to relax and enjoy nature, but lately I just feel stressed when I’m there. Is there anything I can do?

Cute morning soak

Made my whole day. Plants in the back are my attempt at growing safflower for the derps, but more than half got fried by the sun so I don’t have many. They will grow great in the fall.

Single file geese

I go to the park every evening and I love to watch these cute derps (we have both domestic and Canada geese) leisurely drifting to their little island in the middle of the pond where they sleep.

Goose’s leg fell off

I’ve spotted a young adult goose limping a few times when I’ve went to the park. It looked like there was fishing line tied around the middle of its leg and really swollen. It also looked broken because it dangled. Today I saw it, and I guess the leg fell off where the string was tied. I feel so bad for this poor goose. My local wildlife rescue is not taking waterfowl. Will this goose be okay? It seems to be able to swim still but limps behind everyone on land has to lay down for periods to eat. Is there anything I can do?

Are you always on the same level of spiritual growth as your twin?

After separation, I experienced numerous life challenges that pushed me to the edge and caused a spiritual awakening. Since then (it’s been 4 years), I’ve been on a healing and personal growth journey, which has not been linear. Far from it. Sometimes I feel like I’m making a lot of progress and then the next week, I’ll feel like I’m back where I started. It’s a constant back and forth, even though I do think that if I zoomed out, you’d be able to see I am making gradual progress. From my understanding, this is normal. You need challenges and tests to grow your consciousness. You can’t get rid of the old mental patterns and karma all at once.

In the times that I’m feeling more present, I feel very connected to my twin and when I’m feeling like I stepped back in my growth, the connection is gone and feels like it was never there. So that brings me to my question, is your twin there with you experiencing all your and ups and downs along side you? Do they feel connected when you feel connected and disconnected when you do? Are you always on the same level of growth?
