The filter in my tank stopped and I realized I kind of like how peaceful the tank is without the current. can I keep it this way? I hope to eventually add some malawa shrimp.
I've tried sponge filters in the past and am not really a fan because it sounds like there's a pot of boiling pasta going all the time
now and before :( the pink begonias in the back are ok though 🥹
my plants always get dusty with dirt :( what gives
currently no inhabitants aside from hitchhiker snails
My partner got me a pair of trail running shoes that we're trying to sell (I need more ankle support -- I'm more of a hiker than a trail runner!). They are no longer available to buy in US (if it apples haha) so it's a pretty good find!
They are a specialty shoe and we want them to go to someone who will really appreciate them, so price is negotiable.
Please check them out! https://www.ebay.com/itm/327276839012

I'm going to a derm tomorrow but wanted to get additional opinions.
Yesterday I suddenly got what looked like a "red mole" on the side of my torso, about 4mm, and then today the skin peeled off the top and it scabbed over.
haha it's just kind of gross to always be seeing about 10 wriggly worms floating in the water. I don't see them in other nano tanks.
The aquarium is 4 weeks old and has 5 caridina. The worms seem to have been there since maybe week two but seem to be getting worse.
Last week I fed small amounts of Bacter AE twice -- I'm going to stop feeding for two weeks to see if it helps. Is there anything else I can do?
2.5 gallon, 24*C , pH 6.5
[ppm 140, dGH 3.4, kH 0, Nitrogens all 0]
I have a caridina tank going and am considering adding another species for variety; is it possible?
🥹 will it go away eventually?
any local caridinas?

The Rat has just been given something extraordinary—but instead of feeling free, it’s overwhelmed.
The rat isn’t flying. It’s simply hanging from its new wings, as if it doesn’t understand what they are or what it’s supposed to do with them.
To me, it’s a metaphor for receiving opportunities, expectations, or responsibilities before you’re ready. Sometimes what looks like a gift from the outside can feel like a burden on the inside.
I'm just starting to get materials together for my F31, and I see that sponsors and collaborators are required to submit letters of support that are up to 6 pages long ... I have no idea how I can expect a busy scientist to do that for me? Can I write part of it for them?
What are your guys' thoughts?
i jumped into this and feel like i've already messed up haha.
i just got Walstad's book but am not completely sure how to adapt it to a nano. i'm getting the sense I should add more plants? so far there's a java fern, moss, and a crypt
added some alder cones yesterday and the plants are arriving in the mail today ✨
I'm getting the sense I should be trimming them to shape them better?
2.5 Gallon!
I'm going to put in a plant in the next week -- not sure which one...
Plan right now is plants and one nerite snail
