I’ve seen a few of these online that look great but I can’t find a good tutorial online and I haven’t done enough geodes to be able to think of how to tie it. I have a logo shirt I would like to geode dye (circles around a clean logo — check rankstrangedyes on instagram for an example — but I only have one so no room for mistakes and I’m nervous to get started. Any tips much appreciated!

I have a feeling this will be controversial. In many ways I love where Phish is at right now as much as anything since 2009, but I do have a couple issues. One is that there’s a line (on one side) between a type 2 jam that emerges out of the song you just played where themes/scales from the song you just played constantly shine through even if the recognizable structure has been left behind, and (on the other) playing a song and going straight into unrelated regular-ass major scale jamming, and I feel like more and more they’re landing on the latter. It’s feeling less like a natural flow and more like “well, the crowd wants us to jam so let’s jam” — Carini is a dark song with a dissonant/chromatic chord thing and within like 2 mins of the big MPP jam they’re right back in that same happy sounding electric blues scale that they use for every other jam these days.

It feels like [song][jam], [song][jam], [song][jam] rather than song into natural jam, song into natural jam, etc…I may not be making any sense to anyone but myself but we’ll see. I feel like the Dead always managed to keep it sounding organic even when the expectation of jamming had obviously been established, but it feels like it’s going the opposite way with Phish for me.

Particularly looking for the experience of those who smoked 24/7 365 rather than those who took an edible before bed or smoked in the evenings.

I’ve quit many things in my life and somehow this is the hardest. I can’t even make it 12 hours let alone 24 or a week. I thought maybe getting an accurate picture of what’s better, what’s worse, and what’s the same might help envision what will or won’t happen if I do quit and go through withdrawal.

I’m in an extremely difficult place in my life, the toughest I’ve ever been in, and there’s no way out any time soon (this has nothing to do with weed) which makes it particularly hard to let go of, as I feel like it gives me “cosmic acceptance” but it probably just makes me ruminate and numb myself to what’s going on.

As much as I do love Phish I feel like they taught generations of jam bands to follow to stay between the lines — jam in 4/4, do little groove-based blues licks with the Santana tone, build up to the peak we all know is coming — whereas the Dead were definitely looser, more avant-garde, with jams often fully disintegrating and coming back together or everyone off in their own world in a chaotic way that might at times clash but still makes sense in total.

What other jam bands carried this spirit? They’re all exploratory in some way, but jam bands today almost sound like they’re fans of bad pop music and just happen to love to improvise. I feel like this will catch a lot of flak but maybe someone out there can relate to what I’m saying.

I’ve used Amber Waves, Terracotta, Shiitake Mushroom, Timber Wolf, Brushed Steel, Pewter, and Wedgewood Blue from Dharma, as well as Busted Black/Pillars and Forest Green #42 from Grateful, and Actius Luna/Late Autumn from Dyespin, all of which I’d say can be pretty earthy with most applications, but I need some variety and I’m not sure where else to go. Anyone have any other dyes to recommend along these lines and/or that would complement the aforementioned colors? Thanks!

I feel like I never have gotten the hang of it — I can get it tight enough to get lines, but my main issue is not having what I’m trying to wrap fall apart before I can get the sinew tight enough around it to hold. I’ve gotta be less skilled when it comes to the average person when it comes to using this stuff — how many attempts does it take before you really start getting comfortable with it?

For the record I’d prob have the same issue with kite string but I just never really use it for much.

As it says in the title, never married so there’s no divorce to finalize. Together 12 years, had a kid 10 years in (so he’s two now) at her request, she split in Feb. If there were no kid involved I’d already be past the relationship but it hurts me so bad to see him confused at why he’s only spending time with one parent at a time and always going back and forth so I keep entertaining this vision that one day this will be fixed and my son will know what a family is again.

Ex wants to do events together, holidays together, etc and every time I try I find that she’s rude to me in exactly the same ways she was in the relationship and it sends me reeling in a way that I sent a bunch of emotional text messages I regret (not drunk, just emotionally drunk) and makes me wonder why I keep even entertaining any kind of relationship with the person who repeatedly hurt me so deeply throughout my life.

How do I actually move on and not stay in this cycle? I live 1200 miles from friends and family and no local friends (moved to her hometown) so no real support system to lean on.

1. Does this sell out or is it fine to wait on tickets?

2. What’s it like going solo?

3. I’m assuming everyone is going to recommend the experience so would anyone out there NOT recommend attending?

And is it worth paying more for a nice one or do the $3 Rubys do the job just as well?
