King of the anubia

Recently got a second large anubia for my panda garras because they really liked the first and would sometimes fight for the best perch. Now they ignore the first one and compete for the new plant.

Fun cpd thing

I recently noticed how male celestial pearl danios all have a unique pattern on their anal fin. Now I have a good way to identify them. Unfortunately the females are all pretty similar

Giant crane fly and some other recent finds

Horseflies and deer flies are an underrated beauty as I see it. Just another animal that needs to eat. The bite does suck though as I've been bitten by both

Topminnows help

A couple of my black stripe topminnows have some white bumps in their face area. Any ideas what they are and how I can help them. They are behaving normally and eating eagerly but the bumps are concerning

Pair of dekays brownsnakes that came into my shop in the cold

Probably my favorite snakes to hold. Never try to bite, cup them in your hands and every time they curl into a ball

Care for dace

I got a bucket of the local bait shops creek mix for some evening fishing. There was a mix of northern and southern red belly dace, one red side dace, and a pair of black nose along with a baby white sucker that I decided to try keeping. Unfortunately I learned to late that redside dace jump and I ended up losing him but the red belly dace seem comfortable and are eating omega one freshwater flakes and blood worms. The black nose I haven't witnessed eating but then again they go and hide when I approach. I intend to get a better filter than this sponge/stone combo but I will gladly take any advice

One melanistic and typical common garter

This was in curtice, ohio. Thought the melanistic was a watersnakes at first glance but then realized it was melanistic. Turns out they are pretty common there though
