Am I Going Crazy Or Has The Defense Gotten Miles Worse This Update?

Because honest to god, before this update I was not seeing DBs chase a WR and absolutely abandon their assignment allowing for the opponent to get an easy touchdown or yards and I also see the player be able to just rush the QB out ofthe pocket and its not until the QB is breathing next to the safeties and DBs that they finally rush towards him, which has lost me way more games than won for me. This is just overall a frustrating thing to go through right now.

With The Win Over Rutgers Tonight UMass After 9 Straight Years Since November 18th, 2017 Has Finally Won A Game Against A Power Four Team.

With their 37-21 victory they after in the past four years going 7-39 have with this victory after quite literally going 0-12 and losing to even a FCS squad (Who them themselves went 3-9 that year) the offense was clicking and is a great change after being the worst offense in the entire FBS last season. This defense was also ranked the eighth worst in the FBS back in the 2025 season. They were on a 16 game losing skid before this victory. They are 0-24+ before this victory against P4 teams in conferences and is now 3-3 against Rutgers with their last victory before this coming from 1998, meaning before this they have never beaten a B1G opponent. They also hadnt lead into a halftime against a FBS team since November 4th, 2017 against #16 Mississippi State which Mississippi State won 34-23.

They are now 11-59 overall against the P4. (Independent and conference compiled)

Congrats UMass fans you deserve it. I hope yall win a bowl game this year and this is YOUR night after so long of suffering.

For those curious this is also UMass' largest win since 2017 which was the victory over Georgia Southern.
