Partner and I have very different personalities when it comes to money and decision-making. Is this a problem long-term?

My partner 30M and I 27F have been together for several years and are talking seriously about marriage. We’ve been having a lot of conversations about finances and realized we have very different personalities.

I’m very future-oriented. I like planning, optimizing, budgeting, building things, and thinking years ahead. I usually have strong preferences and spend a lot of time researching before making decisions.

My partner is the complete opposite. He’s very easygoing and says he’s happy with almost anything. If I ask where to live, what to eat, or what our future should look like, his usual response is, “Whatever makes you happy.” He says I have stronger preferences than he does, so he’d rather let me choose.

The problem is that while I appreciate the trust, I sometimes feel like I’m carrying the mental load because I’m making most of the decisions. On the other hand, he says that because I usually know exactly what I want, he feels there’s not much room for him to contribute.

Financially, I’m currently earning significantly more than he is, although we’re both working and building our careers. He also admitted he’s worried that if he doesn’t become financially stable as quickly as I do, I’ll eventually become frustrated with him.

For those who have been married or in long-term relationships, is this a compatibility issue, or just a difference in personality? How do couples avoid one person becoming the “CEO” of the relationship while the other becomes too passive?

I’d really appreciate hearing from people who’ve actually lived through something similar.

TL;DR: I’m a planner who makes most decisions, while my partner is very easygoing and defers to me. I’m worried about carrying the mental load and long-term compatibility, especially around finances. Is this a problem, and how do couples balance this dynamic?

How can you vlog while protecting your privacy?

I’m interested in starting a vlog, but I’m concerned about maintaining my privacy and keeping my personal life, including my family, out of the public eye.

For those who create content while staying relatively anonymous, what approaches do you take? Do you avoid showing your face, use a pseudonym, limit filming in certain locations, or rely on other methods?

I’d really appreciate any advice from creators who have successfully built an audience while keeping their private lives separate.

How do you vlog without giving away your privacy? Would love to know your insights

I’ve always wanted to vlog ever since, but now that I’m getting older, I’m starting to value my privacy and peace a lot more. I still want to share parts of my life, but not too exposed or have my personal life out there for everyone.

For those of you who create content while staying relatively low-key, how do you balance it? Do you avoid showing your face, use a nickname, skip filming certain places, or just share selected parts of your life?

Would love to hear tips from creators who’ve managed to pursue vlogging while still protecting their privacy and maintaining their peace.

Am I thinking about debt the wrong way? Pay it off ASAP or keep leveraging it?

I’ve been really confused about this lately.

I’ve always heard people like Robert Kiyosaki and other investors say that “good debt” is used to build wealth, while a lot of financial advice says to become debt-free as fast as possible.

Personally, debt has honestly changed my life.

I barely had ₱2,000 in my bank account years ago. Thanks to bank loans and credit, I was able to finish my postgrad studies, start and grow my business, and get to where I am today. Without leverage, I don’t think I would’ve been able to do it.

Now I’m at a crossroads.

My partner believes it’s much better to aggressively pay off all debt first for peace of mind. On the other hand, I’m wondering if that money would be better used to expand my business or invest if the expected returns are higher than the interest I’m paying.

I know debt can be dangerous if it’s used for lifestyle spending, but what about debt that’s consistently generating income?

For those of you who own businesses or invest:
Do you prioritize paying off debt first?
Or do you continue using leverage as long as the numbers make sense?

At what interest rate do you stop borrowing and just focus on paying everything off?

Would love to hear real experiences rather than just generic advice. I’m trying to figure out what actually builds wealth over the long run.

Paid off my EastWest Loan in full, but they still deducted money from my account

Looking for advice on what I should do next against a bank after they deducted money from my account even though my personal loan had already been fully paid and officially closed. The situation has caused financial loss, bounced checks, unnecessary bank charges, and a lot of stress.

I paid in full and THEY STILL ENCASHED MY CHECK THE MONTH AFTER, even when I received the certificate of full payment, even when the CS said there are no more actions needed to be done on my end.

I fully settled my personal loan through pretermination and was issued a Certificate of Full Payment, confirming that my loan had already been closed. Despite that, one of my post-dated checks was still deposited weeks later, and the amount was deducted from my account. When I contacted customer service, I was told they had “forgotten to update the system.”

Because of THEIR mistake:

• Funds were deducted from my account even though I no longer had any loan obligation.
• My checking account no longer had enough funds for other transactions.
• Several of my issued checks bounced.
• I incurred bank penalties because of those returned checks.
• I’ve spent countless hours calling, emailing, and following up just to recover money that should never have been taken in the first place.
• Even now, I still haven’t received my refund or any proof that it has been processed.

What frustrates me the most is that I did everything required of me. I paid the loan in full, obtained the bank’s Certificate of Full Payment, and yet I’m the one dealing with the consequences of their mistake.

It honestly feels unfair that I’m the one carrying the financial burden for an error I didn’t make.

Previous Attempts:

- Called customer service multiple times
- Submitted a formal complaint and cc BSP
- Requested immediate refund and proof of refund
- Sent repeated follow-up emails
- Waited beyond the turnaround time they promised
Issue remains unresolved

What I Need Advice On:

Aside from continuously following up, what else can I do to speed up the refund?

Since the deduction happened after my loan was already closed, does this qualify as an unauthorized transaction or another legal violation?

Can I also recover the bank charges and other losses I incurred because of their mistake?

Has anyone here experienced something similar with a bank? How was it resolved?

I’m exhausted from having to chase my own money. Instead of the issue being fixed immediately, I feel like I’m the one being inconvenienced and financially affected by a mistake that wasn’t mine.

I’d really appreciate any advice or similar experiences. Thank you.

⚠️ BEWARE: EastWest Personal Loan Customers

⚠️ BEWARE: EastWest Personal Loan Customers

If you’ve fully paid or preterminated your EastWest Personal Loan, please monitor your bank account carefully.
In my experience, my loan had already been fully settled and I had even received a Certificate of Full Payment.

‼️Despite that, another scheduled payment was still deducted from my bank account.

When I contacted Customer Service, I was told that they had “forgot to input it in their system.”

Because of that error, my account became short of funds, some of my checks bounced, I incurred additional bank charges, and I’ve had to spend a great deal of time and effort chasing a refund that should have never been necessary.

I’m still waiting for the refund and proof that it has been processed.

I’m sharing this as a reminder to everyone: don’t assume that a loan is completely closed just because you’ve paid it off or received a Certificate of Full Payment.

Keep all your documents, regularly check your bank account, and immediately report any unauthorized deductions.

Hopefully, this helps someone avoid the same experience.

Why Do Some Merchants Still Charge Extra for Credit Card Payments even though it’s ILLEGAL?

Problem/Goal: I keep encountering merchants that add a 2–5% surcharge for credit card payments.

Context: As far as I know, this is prohibited under the agreements merchants sign with card networks and acquiring banks and ILLEGAL under Philippine law.

Previous attempt: The frustrating part is that when customers point it out, some merchants simply say, “Then we don’t accept credit cards,” despite having card terminals available. (Shoutout to my previous school and car dealerships)
