I just want to know what it feels like to be loved

I think what hurts the most is not being alone. It’s feeling unwanted even when there are people around you.

I’ve spent so much of my life feeling like I’m never good enough. The people who are supposed to care about me have made me feel like I’m a burden, like everything I do is wrong, like I have nothing to offer. I’m constantly criticized, dismissed, compared, or made to feel like I’m worth less than everyone else.

And after hearing those things for so long, you eventually start believing them.

Sometimes I wonder what it would feel like to have someone genuinely love me. Not because they need something from me. Not because of what I can do for them. Not conditionally.

Just to have someone look at me and think, “I’m glad you exist.”

I want to be cared for. I want someone to notice when I’m not okay. I want to be reassured instead of criticized. I want to be appreciated instead of taken for granted. I want to feel safe enough to be vulnerable without having it used against me.

I’ve wanted that kind of love since I was young. And honestly, after years of not receiving it, I’m exhausted.

Sometimes I wonder if there is something fundamentally wrong with me. If maybe I really am as worthless as people have made me feel.

But somewhere inside me, there’s still a tiny part that hopes I’m wrong.

I don't want grand gestures or some perfect fairytale. I just want to experience what it feels like to be someone's person—to be loved, respected, protected, and chosen.

Is it really too much to want that?

Unlucky in love

I think I was just unlucky in love

I’ve always felt like I was unlucky when it came to love.

Since I was a teenager, my biggest wish was so simple: I just wanted to be loved. I wanted someone to take me on dates, surprise me, care about the little things, look after me, make me feel special and safe. I wanted to experience the kind of love I saw other people having.

But somehow, I never got that.

In every relationship, I felt used, criticized, taken for granted, or emotionally hurt. I kept giving chances, hoping that maybe this time someone would actually love me the way I had always wanted to be loved. But it never happened.

I’ve never really known what it feels like to be someone’s priority. To be cherished without having to earn it. To have someone genuinely excited to see me, plan something for me, or simply ask, “Are you okay?” and actually mean it.

And after years of wanting love so badly, something in me has changed.

I think I hate love now.

Not because I never wanted it, but because I wanted it for so long and kept getting hurt instead. Sometimes I wonder what was so wrong with me that the one thing I wanted most was the one thing I could never seem to have.

I don’t even know what I’m looking for by posting this. Maybe I just needed to say it somewhere.

I’m tired of being unlucky in love.

I (29F) don't know if my marriage is worth saving anymore. I feel completely alone.

I (29F) have been married to my husband (33M) for 3 years, and I honestly don't know what to do anymore. I'm writing this because I need unbiased opinions from people who don't know either of us.

My husband and I don't live together because of his job. On paper, that may not sound like a huge issue, but in reality, it has made me feel like I'm living life alone.

The biggest problem isn't the physical distance—it's the emotional distance.

He is not emotionally available. We barely have meaningful conversations. He rarely asks how I'm doing, how my day went, or how I'm feeling. Whenever I'm upset or overwhelmed, I don't feel like I have a partner I can lean on. Instead, I usually end up dealing with everything by myself.

After becoming a mother, things became even harder. Raising a child is exhausting, especially when you don't feel emotionally supported by your spouse. There have been so many days when I wished he would simply listen to me, reassure me, or make me feel like we're a team. Instead, I've often felt like I'm carrying the emotional burden alone.

I don't expect grand romantic gestures or expensive gifts. I just want basic companionship, communication, affection, and emotional support. I want a husband who genuinely wants to talk to me, who notices when I'm struggling, and who makes me feel like I matter.

Over the past few years, I've changed so much. I used to be confident, optimistic, and happy. Now I constantly feel lonely, anxious, emotionally drained, and sometimes even question my own worth. I've started wondering whether I'm asking for too much, or whether I've simply gotten used to settling for less than I deserve.

What makes it even more painful is that I see other couples who communicate, support each other, and genuinely seem like partners. It makes me wonder if that's what marriage is supposed to feel like, or if my expectations are unrealistic.

I've tried explaining how I feel, but nothing seems to change for long. After a while, things go back to the way they were. I feel unheard and emotionally disconnected.

I don't hate my husband, and I'm not trying to portray him as a villain. I'm simply exhausted from feeling alone in my own marriage.

So I want to ask people who have been married longer or have gone through something similar:

Am I expecting too much from a marriage?

Can someone become emotionally available if they've always been this way?

Is emotional neglect enough reason to rethink a marriage, even if there isn't constant fighting or abuse?

Has anyone managed to rebuild a marriage after feeling emotionally disconnected for years?

I'm genuinely looking for honest advice and different perspectives. Please be respectful. Thank you for reading.

Who else miss 2010s music?

I don't know if this is just my millennial nostalgia talking, but I genuinely miss the music from the late 2000s and 2010s.

I miss artists like Rihanna, Katy Perry, Lady Gaga, Bruno Mars, One Direction, Taylor Swift's early albums, Avicii, Calvin Harris, and so many others. Every song had its own identity, and every era felt memorable.

Maybe it's just me getting older, but today's music doesn't give me the same feeling. The songs don't seem to stick with me the way they used to. Back then, there were songs for every mood—road trips, heartbreak, parties, late-night drives—and they became part of our memories.

Does anyone else feel like the 2010s were a special era for music, or am I just looking at the past through nostalgic glasses?
