Hi all! I’m a troop leader for a group of first graders. We are going to do the art and design badge this week and was wondering what everyone else did for this badge. I am not an artsy person by any means and am struggling! Thanks!
My friend’s birthday is this weekend and her favorite cookies are Oreos but she can’t eat them anymore due to an allergy.
Cookie portion is from Sally’s Baking Addiction and the filling is an ermine frosting.
We are visiting NH on Monday and will be staying at a campground that is equal distance from both parks. My kiddos are 5 and 3, both love going on rides and water parks. It’s only about a 30 dollar price difference between the two. I was originally going to bring them to Storyland but now I’m having second thoughts. Suggestions?
I made 6 dozen Minnie Mouse cupcakes for a birthday party! Birthday girl (and Dad) each got jumbo cupcakes. Chocolate cupcakes with whipped American buttercream frosting.
I had a party at my house last night. I asked my sister to get stuff to put a charcuterie board together and I would pay her for everything, no problem. She gets everything and I send her the money. She comes for the party and she’s getting ready to leave and then she takes everything from the board back home with her.
I’m just bothered by the fact that I paid for everything and she took it all home. She’s a cheap ass and she would most definitely ask me for money back if the roles were reversed. Part of me is saying to just be the bigger person and drop it because it’s not a lot of money (20 bucks I would be asking her for) but it’s more so the principle. I also only work two days a week because I’m home with my kids during the week and 20 bucks is 20 bucks.
So Reddit I need to know, AITAH if I ask her for some money back?
Edited to add: I paid her 40 for the meats and cheese so I would be asking for 20, should have clarified! I know it’s petty but she’s also petty. I’m just bothered by it because I NEVER would have done that.
Myself and my two kids (5 and 3) went geocaching for the first time today! Not once did my daughter complain about the amount of walking and my son was more than happy to be outside “treasure hunting.” They could have done it all day, but I made us head back home once the rain started to get heavier.
We went to five locations and found four geocaches. The first one we went to is the one we couldn’t find so that was a bummer, but it made us even more determined to find the next one! We swapped some of the “treasure” and they ended up with a little green army man, a purple dreidel, and a kids book (it was attached to a little free library). We even found a travel bug but left it where it was, but we may go back to see if it’s there before we go to NH.
My daughter is already asking to find more tomorrow and thinking about where to hide our first box and what to put in it! I told her we have to find 100 before we can hide our own. Perhaps a summer goal?
If you’ve made it this far, anyone have any tips/tricks or must haves for newbies? I can see why tweezers would come in handy, luckily I had a pen in me so I was able to get the paper out. We had such a great time today and can’t wait to find out next treasure!
It’s been so fun watching the birds that come to my feeders everyday and leaning their personalities. I find myself saying “oh this bird reminds of this person” so here’s what I’ve come up with:
Hubby: Bluejay- thinker, problem solver, saves for the future, family orientated, while he’s not personally loud, his music always is
Daughter: bluebird- her favorite color is blue, loves to sing, very sweet, loving and kind, never fails to make me smile
Son: grey catbird- big personality, curious, playful, sneaky, loud, always making me laugh
Mom: crow- her favorite bird, likes shiny things, holds a grudge
Dad: hairy woodpecker- outdoorsman, run a sawmill, always has projects going on, will defend his territory, close knit circle of friends
Myself: I would say rose breasted grosbeak- devoted to kids and husband, easy going, like to sing, enjoys eating
So now I want to know: what birds do you associate with certain people or yourself?
I just got my new x ray markers in! Can’t wait to see if I come across any other swifties (or birders) at work!
Basically as the title says. I’m in Litchfield county (willing to travel) and have two younger kids (3 and 5). Are there any good creeks or streams for them to splash around and play in during the summer? Just trying to think of things to do with them once school is out!

My man is the sweetest! I’m the one who does the baking for birthdays and was going to make myself a carrot cake cheesecake for mine. He was not having it and he was going to order one from a bakery, but decided that he was going to bake one for me instead. Chocolate cake (from scratch), vanilla pudding, and cream cheese frosting (I let him cheat and use jarred). This was his first time baking anything and it came out so good!
Both of mine are food related for each 😂
First pregnancy: I was coming home after a 12 hour shift and was SO looking forward to eating some digiorno pepperoni pizza only to find out my husband’s cousin ate the last two slices. FYI he doesn’t even LIKE pizza! Luckily we had another in the freezer so I sat pathetically in front of the oven while it cooked.
Second pregnancy: was craving a Philly cheesesteak so I ordered one and they put MAYO on it. Like who tf puts mayo on a Philly cheesesteak! Ketchup belongs on those bad boys. I couldn’t even eat it. Hubby offered to go get me another one but I was just too heartbroken at that point and I’m still mad about it.
