Minolta Himatic G2 - issues

Recently picked up what looked like a lovely little Himatic G2.

Got through about two rolls of film and went to take some shots today and couldn't wind it on any more.

It was at about 25 shots indicated and I began to question if I'd put in a 24 shot roll, but rewound and removed it and sure enough it was a 36.

It now won't release the shutter or wind on. And I can't find anybody else with the same problem (similar ones - on different Himatics).

It sounds like it's probably a goner - which would be a shame as it looks mint. But I figured someone might know how to solve it and give me some clues.

I've tried removing the battery and replacing it, but that didn't reset anything.

At the minute my 'research' seems to suggest the next thing to try is removing the bottom and looking for anything obviously out of place.

Would love some pointers if anyone has them. Be a shame to have to bin it.

MC-X 50/2

Ordered an SRT 100 with lens as I wanted to take the focussing screen and replace the one that’s cracked in my SRT101.

Took a punt that the camera and lens were ok - but they weren’t.

Lens had heavy fungus.

Looked online and it looked like a fairly simple lens to disassemble.

So I bought a set of lens spanners and thought I’d give it a go.

Pretty pleased with myself for doing it. Even though at one point the little bearing that makes the aperture ring click popped out and disappeared into the darkness.

So I then ordered some bearings. 1mm in case anyone wants to know.

Cleaned it. Re-assembled it and it’s all working perfectly.

The rear element is scratched - so the photo makes it look like there’s still some fungus, but it’s all gone.

Not got any pics back yet, but picked up this Himatic G2 a week back.

Looks brand new.

Also came with a Minolta 20 flash. Didn’t work at first, but I cleaned the contacts and it’s firing perfectly.

👍

Work trip to Bucharest last year.

Took one of my X-500s and some Rollei film I got in a job lot.

Paired with the 28-85 as a one lens solution.
