My adventure with X/Twitter for marketing

Feels like Twitter/X is quietly becoming a ridiculously good lead source again for SaaS.

Not from farming impressions or posting content 24/7 either. Mostly because people openly tell you what they need.

I started watching for tweets like:
“does anyone know software for this”
or
“need a Shopify app that can do X”

And honestly it shifted how I think about outbound completely.

With cold email you spend all your time trying to manufacture intent.

On X the intent already exists. People are literally raising their hand asking for solutions in public.

The companies that seem to win here aren’t even the biggest brands. They’re just the fastest and most human.

They reply early.
They don’t sound robotic.
They actually help before pitching.

I also think people are obsessing over the wrong type of automation.

Automated content is fine.
Automated discovery is way more interesting.

For the past 3 months I’ve been deep in the weeds trying to build a system around this.

I wanted multiple X accounts with different personalities, proxies, workflows, etc. Honestly I was shocked how weak the tooling is compared to cold email infrastructure.

Tried a few Chrome extensions and they were terrible. Super easy for X to detect.

Also tested xreacher which looked solid at first but ended up feeling way too clunky for what I wanted.

Now I’m testing another platform that finally feels more aligned with the vision.

Right now I have 3 X accounts with unique personalities and writing styles created with Claude + ChatGPT.

They:
\- monitor keywords
\- like and reply to posts
\- follow users
\- eventually send DMs

Main categories I monitor:
\- brand mentions
\- competitor names
\- pain point phrases

I’m also building out related phrase maps using Claude.

Example:
If I sold a privacy tool, I wouldn’t just track “cookie compliance.”

I’d also track phrases related to lawsuits, legal risk, accessibility fines, and other adjacent pain points because they usually overlap with the same type of buyer intent.

Still experimenting but it honestly feels like the beginning of automated social outbound.

Would love to hear if anyone else is doing this.

Any tools or strategies you’d recommend?

My X/Twitter rabbit hole

I think Twitter/X might honestly be one of the most overlooked acquisition channels right now for SaaS.

Not because you need some giant audience either.

The real opportunity is that people constantly post exactly what they’re looking for in public.

I started paying attention to tweets like:
“can anyone recommend a tool for this?”
or
“looking for a Shopify app that does X”

And it changed how I think about outbound entirely.

Cold email feels way harder in comparison because you’re trying to interrupt people.

On X the user already has intent. They’re actively searching.

The funniest part is the companies winning here usually don’t seem huge. They’re just quick and helpful.

They respond fast.
They sound normal.
They provide value before trying to sell.

I also think the real opportunity isn’t content automation.

It’s discovery automation.

Over the last few months I’ve been experimenting heavily with systems around this.

Wanted multiple X accounts running with different personalities and proxies. I assumed there’d be strong tooling for this already but honestly most of it is pretty disappointing.

Chrome extensions were basically unusable since they’re easy for X to flag.

Tried xreacher too and while it initially looked promising, it just felt awkward and limited once I got deeper into it.

Testing another tool now that finally feels more usable.

Current setup:
3 separate X accounts with different personalities and tones generated using Claude and ChatGPT.

They monitor keywords, interact with posts, follow users, and gradually transition into DMs.

Things I monitor:
- mentions of brands
- competitor mentions
- pain point phrases

I’m also building out intent expansion maps with Claude.

For example if someone sells a cookie banner tool, there are dozens of adjacent phrases tied to the same underlying compliance fear even if the wording is completely different.

That part has been surprisingly powerful.

Still very early but I can already see how this turns into fully automated social prospecting agents over time.

Curious if anyone else has gone down this rabbit hole.

What tools or workflows are you using?

So proud of myself today!

So I'm super proud of myself today.

I currently own about 40-50 Google workspace legacy accounts that I've acquired over the last 24 months or so.

For most part they have been sitting around collecting dust because I didn't have the time in my life to set up domains and email accounts. This became even more annoying when Google removed bulk import of users via csv for legacy accounts.

Manually adding 300 users takes forever especially since you have to type their names and all that and then add it to smartleads one by one.

So between that and just setting up dns it could take me an entire day to process 300 emails…. And boring painful work.

So today I built two chrome extensions.

  1. automates adding users to workspace based on my csv file, including setting the password and unchecking “require user reset password”

  2. automate adding Google account to smartleads

Even this itself is huge win, since I would cry having to log out after 10-15 accounts and just the whole process was so painful.

So now I'm headed to bed knowing my computer is adding hundreds of accounts into smartleads while I sleep :)

If you know you know just how important this is :)

If you have ever sold a Shopify app:

How long is an acceptable transition period?

What % is considered reasonable upfront vs after the transition period?

For anyone who recently submitted and got reviewed resulting in “paused” how long after you resubmitted did they review the fixes? Do you really just back to end of the line and wait another 2 months?

Looks like Shopify is going to auto opt in everyone may 17 to their new managed payments for checkout. They claim they will prioritize payment methods the customer uses most…

Guess who will be first? Ah hem… Shop pay lol with their tax on all 50 states and their higher processing rates.

Been looking for an all in one tool something like “moast” but focused on ai.

Specifically I wanted to monitor my own brand for citations, traffic, and even competitors etc.

Today I got an email from someone from ranktail.ai and they seem to do it all. What struck me as crazy was that aside from all the reporting and monitoring they also offer all kinds of tools to create collections for ai, articles, and even have their own reciprocal backlink engine.

Only downside is they seem fairly new… no reviews on Shopify yet. Anyone else get pitched? Bite the bullet?
