Why not use UTC time in the proper format and convert as needed? It's converted to the local timezone with the proper time format anyway even if Unix Time is used.

Why can't computers boot into the operating system directly? What's the point in having something before the OS? When the operating system starts, does the BIOS/ROM pass full control of the computer to the kernel and lose any say in how the computer runs moving forward?
