tips for assassin and people that want to play fighter in DDDA
hi, i noticed a lot of people said there was a sale so i thought i'd leave some tips
this is for people playing assassin as well as folks that want to play fighter. these are kind of synonymous tbh.
the other reality is is that if people want to min max generally they are looking at playing assassin for 90 levels.
the first thing right out the gate, if you are playing hybrid classes you should carry every weapon they can use in your inventory and swap them as needed. for an assassin, this means you have a sword, shield, dagger, and bow.
what makes the assassin the better "fighter" and offer that playstyle people are after is something that might not be obvious immediately, but you will want to use daggers and shield. it looks weird but whatever.
its important to use your kicks with the dagger for bludgeoning when it's needed (this is basic attack, delay, basic attacks- you have to buy the base skill)
you want to use instant reset and master this as it's what let's you be very aggressive and mobile, as well as salvage terrible situations. get the max ranked one to stop hit recovery and falling animations and follow up into parries, dodges, or attacks.
you can roll and then cut the end of the roll short with the moving fortress skill to dash again, and you can also instant reset the end animation of that to attack out of it.
you can break shielding enemies guard with the shield strike skill, this goes well with daggers.
the other skills are preference, but i would suggest using the shield parry to get onto larger enemies, as well as scarlet kisses for general brawling and climbing, and i use the gap closer as i prefer that.
the other thing that assassin brings to the table is the ability to use bows and swords. this also might sound bizarre, but a great pairing is a bow and a sword.
the problem with swords that is while they do good damage, they leave you very vulnerable to being locked in hit recovery animations and dont offer the double jump and roll that daggers do which is conducive to surviving close quarters combat
there is a sword perk where you place an explosive in the ground, you should be using this to explode mimics in BBI when u open the chest (just plant it and run far away then back, detonate it, and open the chest. u have to practice the distance), but besides that it is an amazing skill to set up before hand when you are using your bow, as u can trigger it once enemies have closed the gap.
this is where the sword will shine, as u can either explode them, or you can use tusk toss to launch them, then use compass slash on their fallen bodies to hit them repeatedly and punish any enemies that close the gap to you.
as for what skills to use on the bow it is mostly preference but id suggest five fold shot and full bend. you can use a rusted bow and inflict torpor but they dont have the same power as a strider with cloudburst and fracture.
hope that helps! and this advice about using every weapon applies to every hybrid. you should carry them with u and swap them in combat as needed. just make sure you're in a neutral animation or they wont swap (you can force that with instant reset btw)
